Mikaela smiled as he watched his husband twirl around the living room in the new outfit he had just sewn for him; Yuu smiled as he caressed the warm, lightweight fabric that was tailor-made for him.
"Mika, that's beautiful!" Yuu smiled even more, and the sound of his laughter was so soft and gentle that even Mikaela couldn't help the gleam of happiness in his lazuli sky-blue eyes.
"It looks beautiful on you." He hummed.
It was a black owl hood that covered his entire torso, with the owl's head serving as a hat that covered the top part of his head, hiding Yuuichiro's black bangs hair and a bit of his bright sapphire-bright eyes.
"I knew it' would look perfect on you."
"Yes!" And Yuu laughed again, he was so beautiful, Mikaela's stomach was filled with butterflies and he just sighed once more time, completely mesmerized by the beauty of his love. "Thank you, Mika! Thank you!"
"I'm glad you enjoyed it." Mikaela looked at her Yuuichiro with eyes shining with happiness and unconditional love. Cuz' I made it especially for you.
"You have one too, don't you?" Yuu turned to Mikaela. "The yellow fabric! The one with the weird eyes!"
"It's a frog." Mikaela said as he pulled another hoodie from the desk, holding it out to Yuu. "A yellow frog. I thought it would suit me."
"Aren't they poisonous?" Yuu looked at him "I remember watching animal planet one day, and they talked about a poisonous yellow frog, you know, but he was cute."
Do you watch animal planet?" Mika arched an eyebrow. "And I didn't know that?"
"It was only once." Yuu shrugged, "I think the frog's name was golden poison something like that."
"You watch animal planet." Mikaela repeated.
"Never mind that." The boy rolled his eyes. "Put your hoodie on, we're going out."
"Going out?" Mika frowned. "I need to clean up the mess I made."
"Later." Yuu covered him with the yellow hoodie and smiled when he saw his husband in a frog hoodie.
"Fine." Mika agreed, not forgetting to pick up his wallet.
Unlike Yuu, who as usual, rushed to the door and forgot to bring his keys and money along.
The two of them put on their shoes and ran out of the house, it was a very cloudy day and there were many heavy rain clouds in the sky but that didn't seem to bother Yuu, who pulled Mikaela by the arm while talking about anything that caught her attention; he had always been a random heap of information that usually didn't make any difference in the routine, and Mikaela loved listening to him talk about each of these things.
And even though the crowded streets of the city didn't please them, the duo smiled when they realized that they were the only strangers walking around the city like it was a beautiful garden full of roses; for a moment, Mikaela really didn't care about the others, even though it was strange to see two grown men running and jumping in puddles of water in the middle of a crowded sidewalk with fancy clothes that looked more like children's raincoats.
Mikaela watched Yuu smiling as if the world was a beautiful place, as if the gray sky of central London didn't bother him and as if only the two of them existed.
"I want to eat something." Yuu muttered. "Let's eat blackberries, Mika! With strawberry milk!"
"We don't have blackberries at home." Mikaela frowned. "Nor strawberry milk."
"Let's buy then." Yuu smiled and pulled him by the wrist again, running down the street while laughing like a happy child.
Mikaela was startled by the sudden brutality, and almost tripped as he was dragged through the cold, crowded streets of the city. Still, he smiled, with Yuu's fingers intertwined with his own, there was nothing he was afraid of, and the two entered the first store they saw.
"There must be blackberries somewhere~" Yuu hummed, "Wait for me here."
"Right." Mikaela agreed.
And for a few minutes, the only noise in the store was the sound of the air conditioner and the stomping of Yuu, who was stumbling back and forth in the store while looking for blackberries. Mika felt calm, his eyes never far from the black hoodie with owl ears that walked around the place so happily.
Mika was happy too.
"it was fifteen euros" the cashier said, stealing Mika's attention.
Yuu put his hands in his pockets and froze when he couldn't feel his wallet, Mika held back a giggle as he watched Yuu nervously search for the wallet he had forgotten at home. He searched his pockets for a few minutes, Mikaela could already see the cold sweat going down his beloved's forehead as his hands began to shake slightly, he turned to Mikaela and looked at him with wide eyes.
"Mika, I forgot my wallet." Yuu muttered nervously.
Mikaela stared at him with a serious face and didn't answer for a few seconds, wondering what he should do now.
Pay, obviously, he could no longer hold back his laughter.
And he was giggling "I know."
"Mika!" Yuu groaned, embarrassed.
"Let me pay." He replied. "I just wanted to see how long it would take you to figure it out."
"You moron!" Yuu retorted, but he wasn't really angry.
Mikaela paid for the food and left the store with Yuu trailing behind him, still complaining about how Mika had let him get worked up over nothing. The two walked back to the house hand in hand, Yuu with a scowl on his face and Mika trying to hold in his laughter.
"I can't believe you did that to me~!" Yuu groaned, embarrassed. "I was desperate!"
"I know." Mikaela let out a giggle as he sat down at the dining table that was near the window of the apartment he shared with Yuu.
"Asshole." Yuu grumbled as he sat down in front of his traitor partner.
Mikaela smiled as he lost himself in Yuu again, lost himself in those crystal green eyes, the hair as black as night and the smile as warm as the sun. He had lost himself in every expression mark left by age and every word Yuu uttered; And seeing him as beautifully as Mika saw him, he had fallen in love with Yuu once again, just as he fell in love every day.
"You are an complete idot!" Yuu murmured as he complained, completely embarassed and outraged.
"I know." Mika giggled. Yuu stared at him, laughing too and his laugh sounded like the singing of nymphs, Mikaela closed his eyes and breathed deeply, he was so in love that he could barely concentrate on anything, even the simplest compliments disappeared from the tip of his tongue when it came to Yuu. He had always been so incredible. The only one capable of making him lose himself in his own train of thought.
And sitting at the table for two in the apartment they shared, Mikaela listened to the rain falling outside while the sun was shrouded in clouds, he watched Yuu eating blackberries while talking about the last book he read, imitating the voices of the characters in a silly way and laughing at his own jokes. Mika was glad he had run away, because he was finally with Yuu in a place far away, where nobody knew them. They were together now.
In the end, Mikaela knew that he didn't have to say those words; He didn't have to speak anything for Yuu to know; even if Mikaela never said anything to him about it, even if he remained silent for all eternity, Yuuichirou would know.
Still, he opened his mouth and he did not say another word, even though the words were all stuck in his throat. Slowly, he told himself, because as long as Yuu accepted his love, Mikaela would love him as he had never loved anyone; So he never said and smiled, because he knew Yuu understood him even when he did not utter a word about it.
"You look beautiful today, my prince." That's what he finally said.
