Chapter Text

Hero Academia was an international institution founded by Nezu Hero (or “Principal Nezu” as most were to call him). After succeeding his business, he decided to invest in establishing an enormous school accommodating only the best of the best. A prestigious school known to produce excellent, top-of-the-notch students. Strictly only 300 students per school year were accepted into their high school courses, specifically, first-year courses, which is an amount enormously far from the 55,000 students taking the entrance exam. If that wasn't an indication of how heated the fight is for the education the school provides, then I don't what else could be.

So as it was, being one of the best schools to ever exist, the worth of being a graduate of such school and having that on your resume was something most jobs fought for. So much so that it outweighed anything else on a resume, even one that stated perfect GPAs. Truly, it served as a guarantee that would never leave you jobless. Such a dream, isn't it? See, this is why most fight to get admitted.

To promote better independence and leadership, and more opportunities amongst the 900 (Year 1, 2, and 3 total) students, two buildings were established, divided between the 900 students. Hero East Academia in the east of Tokyo, and Hero West Academia in the west. Some may know, some may not, one of the hidden intentions for this set-up was to provoke competition among the establishments. A healthy competition that would foster the act of doing one’s best in everything they do whilst remaining to encourage others to succeed along.

However, it is without a doubt that the possibility of the “competition” growing rather sour and unhealthy still remains. To address this, the schools hold interactive events (e.g. soiree, and the like) quite the exaggerated times in a year in order for the two schools to build a sense of comradery despite the competitive background.

Hence, a collaborated ball, wherein both schools were to work on, was to be held. One could think that all would go well since the two schools must’ve found each other’s presence appealing due to establishing, what they say, “comradery”, but it was quite the opposite… terribly the opposite… Certain chaos that was unbeknownst to those taking their first glance always ensued whenever the two schools collided. You see, the student body presidents of each were destined, childhood friends. Ehrm… Rivals, I mean.

One loved to explode on people using his “extraordinary” vocabulary and exploit his anger issues, while one could never keep her thoughts to herself and would mumble endlessly about anything. Anything, I tell you. One would find the other’s mumbling annoying, while the other would get annoyed that the other found their mumbling annoying. After they found their argument boring, they would find another topic to get each other annoyed at. A never-ending cycle of stupidity.

These two could never stand being in the same room and would take any chance they were given to behead each other. Similar to an epic showdown, except it wasn’t epic. It was pure childish and plain dumb.

Though this cycle was... annoying to say the least, it was something really painful to watch. Oh no, don't get that statement wrong. Their fighting wasn't painful (for the outsiders at least), but how oblivious they were about their feelings for each other. Seriously. It was such a pain to refrain from telling them to just fuck and get it on.

And this story… is exactly about two oblivious nerds in love blinded by their pride and insecurities. Secretly waiting for their feelings to be resolved unfold, and intimacy to commence within their unlabeled relationship. But, it will definitely take eons before that’ll happen.

Because pride is a cruel thing…

And love isn't an easy battle.

Notes:

hope you were entertained by the first chapter! I've been craving to write this idea for months but couldn't due to my indecisive mind. Nevertheless! I have made time during one of my all-nighters to write the first chapter :D
updates will most likely be random, but I will do my best to consistently deliver chapters
