Agent S stared at the forgotten building. Even after ten years, it was still a sight to behold.
‘Has it really been that long?’
She gave a sigh as she walked towards the entrance, avoiding pieces of broken glass and chunks of cement. Easily sliding underneath the blocking support beam, she entered the abandoned building.
Walking up to the front desk, she picked up the phone and placed it on her ear, only to be met with silence.
Her eyebrows furrowed as she lowered the phone, but by doing so, saw a wire sticking out slightly. With a gentle push, she placed the wire back into the coil. Placing the phone against her ear, a familiar beep was heard.
She pushed the numbers in a fast sequence and waited. After one ring an automated voice spoke.
“Pleas speak your password.”
“Anime Fan 02.” She whispered.
“Welcome Agent Shadow.”
She hung up and took a large step back. Now standing in the center, the floor shook and lit up, before lowering her into the ground.
Deep into the ground, Shadow stepped off of the floor as it began to rise back to its original position. While making her way to a door, she heard something from behind.
She gave a raised eyebrow and turned around, coming face to face with a dagger.
“You're getting slow in your old age.” Said the girl with a smirk, putting the dagger away.
“Seeing as we’re around the same age, you better hope I’m not.” Shadow replied with a chuckle.
“It’s good to see you, Shadow.” She said with a laugh.
“You too Elegant.”
The two ladies walked up to the metal door. Shadow pulled out a key fob and the door opened. The two were then greeted to the sight of their other team members singing along to one of their favorite Wilt Diamond Movies.
“This one has some of the best songs.” One of them squealed.
“I know! It’s definitely a top five in my book.” Said the other one.
”Don’t you guys have more important things to be doing other than singing?” Asked Shadow as her and Elegant walked further into the cave.
“Well, well if it isn’t the music hater. It’s been too long.” Chuckled the one who squealed, while the other turned the movie off.
“I’m not a music hater Cheery, I just don’t care for YOUR constant love of karaoke.” Shadow said with a roll of her eyes.
“The good Lord has given me a voice, and I choose to bless those closets to me with the gift of music.” Cheery said singing that last part.
“Yes, well I would be more grateful if you kept that gift to yourself.” She replied.
“Ow! My heart! Your Cruelty!” Cheery said while clutching her chest in mock agony.
Elegant and the other agent laughed as Cheery faked passed out, while Shadow simply rolled her eyes with a smile.
“Dang Shadow, we just got here.” Elegant said, still giggling.
“Yes. I would appreciate you not taking out one of our team members, please.” Said the other girl with a shake of her head and a smile.
“No promises Talent.” said Shadow.
Talent gave another smile before her expression got serious.
“I take it you all know why I called you three here.”
The other three lost their smiles as they gave a nod. The four girls then gathered around and sat in front of a large computer. Talent then took out a USB drive and plugged it up.
After it loaded, the group watched a map appear on screen. A sequence of green dots showed up in different locations, before they slowly began to fade, leaving only a handful still showing.
“So…that’s all who's left huh?” Asked Elegant.
“Yup. Other than a few unknowns, that's all who hasn’t been captured yet.” Sighed Talent.
“So…Length and Raise…have been…” Cheery said quietly.
“Looks like it.” Mumbled Shadow.
The girls went silent for a moment. Talent then opened up another file, which filled the screen with a bunch of names.
“This was the last thing Length sent, before she was caught.” She said.
“A list of random names?” Questioned Elegant.
“Not random. Read some of them.” She replied.
“Jack, Mi, Finn, Liv, Jules,Cheev Mari…hey! These are all…”
“Names of super babies.” Nodded Talent.
“It doesn’t make sense why Length would have this, I thought they locked this away so….SHE couldn’t get it.” Said Shadow.
“They did lock it up, but when her sub bosses gained parole, Length and Raise wanted to relocate it.” Talent explained.
“But why relocate it?” Said Shadow.
“Wouldn’t it be safer where it was?” Elegant asked.
“That's probably the reason they got captured!” Said Shadow frustrated.
“I know, but obviously they wanted to make sure it was absolutely safe.”
“Not like they needed to. She’s gonna be locked up for a long time.” Scoffed Shadow.
“….unless she’s already free.”
The three girls turned to Cheery who had taken on a thoughtful look.
“It doesn’t make sense to move something that was already secure, unless they thought that she would be able to have access to it. And they couldn’t have assumed that unless they knew she was either free or on the verge of becoming free.”
The girls watched as she rolled up to the computer and began searching up criminals in their database. After typing in her name, the information was brought to the screen followed by a lovely mug shot.
The group held their breaths as Cheery scrolled to the bottom of the info dump and confirm their worst nightmares.
“Lt. L.P. was released on good behavior three years ago.”She sighed.
“Three years ago?!” Shouted Shadow.
“That's impossible! The charges we gave her, guaranteed a maximum fifty year sentence, with no access to her money, equipment or powers!” Said Elegant.
“Apparently trying to drain infants, pre-toddlers, toddlers, and preschoolers of their superpowers isn’t that big of an issue.” Spat Cheery.
“Not to mention working your employees to exhaustion, so they have no way of defending you.” Scoffed Talent.
“Wait until I see that nitpicking…” Growled Shadow.
“Wait!” Said Elegant.
They all stop to turn and look at her.
“If she was released three years ago…why didn’t we hear about it?”
The girls got quiet as they thought it over. They all played a big part in her defeat, why weren't they contacted or notified of her release?
Shadow then gave a shake of her head with a bitter chuckle.
“They wanted us to live our lives…not have to worry about this anymore than we had to.” She said.
The girls deflated a bit realizing that was definitely the case.
“Now what do we do?” Asked Elegant.
Talent lifted her head with a look of determination as she pulled out her phone. The others watched in confusion as she made a call and waited for the other person to answer.
“Hey sweetheart! I’m gonna be going on a spontaneous vacation with the girls…I know it’s last minute, but it’s REALLY important…of course I’ll keep you posted…thanks…love you too…bye.” She hung up with him and began dialing for someone else.
Talent looked at them as her phone rang and a silent message was sent between the group. Within the next hour boyfriends, family, friends, and work were informed that they would be on a needed vacation.
When the last call was finished, Talent printed out the map and list of children, before pulling out the USB and stomping on it.
After burning the lingering pieces, they headed over to a bedroom sized closet. They then grabbed a signature outfit, went in the changing room and got dressed.
Once that was done, they went to an elevator which led to another section of the cave.
Upon entering, they each tossed their phones in a bin and picked up a simple looking one. Turing it on and stuffing it in their pockets they walked further into the room, reaching a large fridge. Opening it, each girl grabbed a vile that had their name on it.
“Father God, we thank you for these gifts, you've blessed us with. We know that we have been given these abilities to stop those who use your gifts for wrong and seek to harm the innocent. So we ask that as we restore what we once had, we’ll be able to handle the full affects even after all these years. In Jesus Name, Amen.” Prayed Cheery.
“Amen.” said the others.
Together they injected themselves with their special liquid. Gritting their teeth as their powers came full force, they were glad they only felt slight exhaustion and no real pain.
“Everyone have full power?” Asked Talent.
Cheery gave a smirk as she opened her palm and a flame appeared, then turned into ice.
“A simple yes, would've sufficed.” Said Shadow.
“Where’s the fun in that?” Cheery asked while juggling drops of water.
She then had to quickly drop the water when Shadow tossed a couple shuriken stars her way.
“That could've harmed me.” She said with a mock glare.
“Trust the weapon expert, if I REALLY wanted to harm you, I wouldn't have missed.” Shadow smirked as she tossed a star in the air before wielding it to disappear.
“Need a hand?” Elegant asked while reaching for Cheery.
“How did you…right teleportation through speed.” Shadow said.
“Glad you remembered.” Elegant smirked.
“You mind going faster next time? I rather not have my fave sliced up, God worked so hard on it.” Cheery said with a swoon.
Elegant gave a hearty chuckle while Shadow fought hard not to smile.
“If you guys are finished?” Said a voice behind them.
The three looked over to see Talent waiting by the elevator with a smile on her face.
“Let’s get going.” She said entering the elevator.
“How did she…?” Shadow began.
“Teleportation via visualization.” Said Elegant.
“Could come in handy when we go on a REAL vacation.” Mumbled Shadow.
“Huh?! You would use these abilities for a chance to gain a free vacation?!” Gasped Cheery.
The group made their way in to the elevator and began to ascend to a different floor.
“Hey you’re more than willing to stay home.” Shrugged Shadow.
“Talent would never use her powers like that!”
“I’m gonna have to agree with Cheery on this. I don’t see me using my powers for something like that.” Talent answered with a laugh.
“Speak for yourselves. I’m down with the idea Shadow!” Said Elegant.
The girls gave a laugh as the elevator made its stop and opened up to their hanger.
“So where to first?” Asked Shadow.
“We need information, so our best bet is to find one of the heads.” Said Talent.
“Why them?” Elegant asked.
“Because they might have information where L.P.’s sub bosses are hiding. Once we find her bosses, we find her. This also give us the chance to see if the children in lockdown areas are still safe.” Explained Talent.
“Are we going after the backstabbers or the greedy ones?” Shadow asked.
“Both are risky, but the greedy ones can be paid to keep quiet or persuaded. The backstabbers have no loyalty and have a higher chance of revealing our plan to L.P.”
“You think one of the heads took Length and Raise?” Asked Cheery.
“It’s possible. They were heads with a conscious, so it’s not that far fetched.”
“Speaking of heads with good morals, shouldn’t we seek out Nice?” Asked Shadow.
“She’s more than likely trying to find Length and Raise herself. Our focus is stopping L.P. from gaining those children.”
“Just like old times.” Chuckled Cheery.
The girls made their way to a fighter jet. As the plane opened, Talent addressed the group once more.
“I don’t want you all to think that it’s mandatory come.”
“Are you kidding, Talent? This is our choice.” Said Elegant.
“Yeah, the heads and those kids mean a lot to us.” Said Cheery.
“Bedsides a chance to hit L.P. in her face is ALWAYS an opportunity I’ll take.” Laughed Shadow.
“I would think you would want to hit Trainer K first?” Smirked Cheery.
“Or Sub Boss F.” Giggled Elegant.
“Who says I can’t do both?” She smirked.
They shared another laugh, before giving Talent a look of confidence and readiness. She shared it back and gave them a nod.
“Alright ladies, let’s clock in.”
One by one the girls scanned their phones as they boarded the the plane. They took their designated seats, started up the plane and took off.
