How Sara ended up re-enacting her almost kiss with Leonard

Summary:

A Christmas party turns into a retelling of a fairly funny story

For CaptainCanary week 2021 Day 6
Quick, kiss me so we don’t blow our cover
+
Christmas

Notes:

I really struggled to write this fic, It might be because i haven't written for captaincanary before, I don’t fully know. So I’m sorry if Leonard is a little OOC, I tried.

This is for CaptainCanary week 2021 and there were two prompts for this day, ‘Christmas’ and ‘Quick, kiss me so we don’t blow our cover’, and I decided to use them both and I kinda love it. It was meant to be more light hearted, and I hope I managed to get that through. I also think I may have gone a different route with the second prompt than what most people would have done, but I think it’s funny.

Anyway, enjoy!!!

Work Text:

They were all gathered at the table, laughing and eating. Everything surprisingly normal for the group.

The Christmas tree was thrown up haphazardly in the corner, lights managing to twinkle while barely holding on from above, minus a few bulbs or two, and a perfectly cooked Christmas feast laid out by Gideon.

Stories were being passed around and shared, how the group even had new stories shocked Sara. However having the occasional new member did help in that department.  Though Sara did have one story of her own, from one of her first few missions with Len that no one but the OG’s knew of. Maybe it was time to let that cat out of the bag?

The food was dwindling but the flow of alcohol kept coming, loosening everyone down, this is how Sara ended up re-enacting her almost kiss with Leonard.  She pulled an enthusiastic Ray and slightly drowsy Ava to their feet and started an over dramatic version of a fairly funny story.

It was a cold winter afternoon, Sara and Leonard were sent to scout the surrounding area. Both slightly annoyed with their partner assignment but both not willing to be the reason the mission failed.

The two were seated together, a decent chunk of space between them, watching the doors. They were looking for a specific man, who in the debriefing, didn’t look extraordinary, but was apparently well known. He seemed to always don a black coat, which was most men of this time. Wild thoughts couldn’t distract the shivers Sara tried to hold back in the flimsy periodic outfit she was forced to wear, all the while Snart looked rather comfortable in his attire. Her new annoyed thought almost let the man they were scouting to slip right by her. She shook her head, shaking the haze from her mind and forming one clear, focused train of thought. Spreading her legs to bump her knee against Leonard’s, she saw the nod out of the corner of her eye as he stood and started his pursuit.

Sara took the path across the street, parallel to the men, using side glances to keep the target in her sights. She kept her main gaze ahead, trying to look as touristy as possible to keep suspicion off what she was actually doing. Looking at people, buildings and objects in her path, keeping smiles and looks of awe on her face.

And that was when she lost him. This caused Sara to physically stop in her tracks, forming a collision of people behind her. She turned, bowing to the people in apology, blonde hair blinding her for a split second before spinning back around to try her luck at crossing the street. Sara weaved her way through the traffic only to bump straight into Leonard on the other side, who also seemed to have the same perplexed look on his face.

That wasn’t good. The two needed to find him, and quick.

Leonard spotted him first, pulling her in by the arms and muttering “Quick, kiss me so we don’t blow our cover”, only for Sara to recover fast enough to duck under said arms and pull the first person she could reach into a short but rather passionate kiss leaving Snart shocked and confused. With one hand on the woman's check and the other on her arm, Sara pulled back with a rather sheepish smile on her face.

“Sorry, I wanted to show my boyfriend I had options, '' Sara announced sweetly before slugging a glare at Snart as she unhandled the lady. To her dismay the girl smiled uncomfortably, turning on her heel and walking back into the crowd. The smile dropped from the blonde’s face as she stalked up to Leonard, shoving him back.

“What the hell?” By this point aggression had seeped into Sara’s bones, the cold and target long forgotten. “You were going to try and kiss me?” Fear quickly flashed across Leonards face as reached for his gun before turning hard and mean.

“I was trying…”

“Back to the ship, now! Both of you!” The anger in Rip’s voice defusing the tension by a millimetre as the two head back empty handed.
