Chapter Text

Unsaved.

Can her life be enough time for her to pay?

Because she was born as a poor child, with no future.

Until he saw her.

Dottore.

He saw that girl living between shadows, with crumbs of love and without a family.

If you could save a life by giving them all they deserved, giving them a good life, a place to live and have love to share, would you save them?

He did. Because he knew where did he came from, and he knew that lovelessness is worst than anything. He saw it in here eyes.

Solitude. He knows it so well.

That little child grew up next to a profesional image. Having such a parent like that, with multiple discoveries for "that" association, she had a lot to be inspired of.

Her name was Sucrose. She was adopted by Il Dottore when she was just six. She was born to be a great person, and she would be.

Graduated from the Bio-alchemy career in Snezhnaya, she grew up as a science lover and nothing could change the fact that she was the person she was because of him, Dottore.

—“What can I do for you, Dottore?” — She asked often everyday. —“There's no way I can pay you this debt I have with your association. Tell me something I can do!”

Dottore just wanted her to be happy. But yet, she was talented. She could do anything if he asked. But truly, he didn't want to.

Yet, it was tempting.

—“Just...” — He wanted her to be happy and free. But it was very tempting. —“Do some tasks for me, and I will be grateful.”

Sucrose was satisfied to hear the answer she had. And, to be honest, his tasks were fun.

She just had to find materials and research information for Dottore, and he would be pleased for a few days.

Everyday was the same thing: Get stuff, hear other people's conversations and realize she did a whole parkour avoiding being seen. Until one day, she got promoted from that useless job and became, legally, part of the Fatui.

With an extravagant purple pajama, a huge coat and a gray mask, she became one of the Cicin Mages. Oh, don't forget the electro delusion, the most important element of a Fatui Member.

But there was something wrong with her. All Fatui Cicin Mages were blond, except Sucrose, who was Green-haired.

By popular demand, all Cicin Mages' hair was dyed voluntarily. All of the Mages wanted such a talented member in the team, so their hair became green, exactly the same kind of green of her.

Once the change was done, Sucrose joined the Fatui Electro Cicin Mages crew. And she wasn't disappointed. She was actually enjoying her job. It was fun to work like that, because getting information was easier too. And because of it, she got more and more important tasks.

She once had a big task, and it was robbing the Holy Lyre and hide it somewhere it can't be reached, even from the own Dottore. But her task failed because of that mysterious outlander that appeared in Mondstadt.

But, besides that, she failed.

After so many years being perfect with her tasks, she failed.

Sucrose was ashamed. Her teammates were empathic enough to tell her this wasn't that bad. She felt relieved. All of them made mistakes before, and they are still on the job.

Sucrose was way too calm now, but she wanted to solve things correctly. So she looked for Dottore for "a small chat".

She arrived to the underground Fatui office where she lived after she got graduated. Looked for Dottore everywhere. And finally found him.

—“Oh! Hey, Da-!” — She spoke when she found him, but was cut by him.

—“Call me Dottore, you know the protocol.” — He says, coldly. —“What's the matter, Sucrose?”

Sucrose prepared her speech since she arrived, but his cold gaze made her forget all she wanted to say. So many words lost in her mind. What should she do?

—“Please, forgive me, Dottore.” — She looked down. —“I committed a mistake, I must pay for it.”

Slowly, Sucrose started squeezing her arms. She started fitting her nails into her arms more and more as she kept thinking about it. Guilt.

—“I failed, Mister Dottore! I couldn't make it!” — She said.

—“You're right, you failed.” — Dottore answered, shamelessly. —“And now what? Should I use a time machine for you to know an outlander would be smarter than us? Stupid stuff you shouldn't care about, you didn't have an idea about it.”

Dottore reached Sucrose, removing her fingers from her arm and holding her hands, so smoothly. He just held her cheek and cleaned the small teardrop that started falling. He reached her and gave her a small kiss on the forehead after whispering “everything will be fine”.

Still, he would have another plan for her.

Two nights after the incident, Sucrose and a Cryo Cicin Mage did a canp Dragonspine in the search of information for upcoming projects of Dottore. They both were camping on the entrance of Dragonspine, preparing a Fatui attack, waiting for more members to come while chatting.

—“So, little girl, what was your name?” — Cryo Cicin Mage asked.

—“Sucrose, Miss Cryo Cicin Mage” — She answered. —“What about you?”

—“Cecilia.” — She answered. —“My father named me after that flower. My mom liked them very much.”

—“That's a sweet name”. — She unironically spoke. —“And how did you get here?” — Sucrose asked. —“How did you join the Fatui?”

Cecilia smirked.

—“The same way you did, honey.” — She answered. —“I was a poor child, left behind, with no one in this place. But then, he appeared and saved me.” — She said.

—“Then, we are sisters, aren't we?” — Sucrose asked. —“You and I were adopted by Dottore, we are Sisters.”

—“Then, you have a whole nation as your siblings, honey.” — Cecilia joked. —“Dottore might be a mysterious scientist, but he loves us more than you can even imagine.”

It was nice to think about. So many people around her were legally her relatives, and after all loneliness, she had a huge family to fight for.

But time has come.

The Fatui Soldiers were there. Fatui Skirmishers, Fatui Cicin Mages, Fatui Pyro Agents, and Fatui Mirror Maidens. So many people there, for a casual attack.

All of them joined and walked towards a particular point: The Actual Dragon Spine.

However, some blond prince appeared in the place.

For Fatui Soldiers, he was a small rock in the way. But he had a power more than they could imagine.

One by one, they tried to break him down. All of them, throwing bombs at him, electrifying him, trying to frost him. But he had something behind, a red energy emanating from his back.

What the hell are you?

No matter what they did, how strong they all were, no one was able to defeat him. And then, he called reinforcement.

Lots of Whopperflowers appeared in the place, copying some of the Fatui members form.

Fatui and Whopperflowers started attacking each other, an small war that turned into dust. Maybe it wouldn't have been that painful if she didn't mention they all were her siblings.

Cecilia. She was one of the many Fatui Members that died in that one war.

Another task failed.

Sucrose turned back next to other Fatui members to the Underground office to report Dottore the losses. He was shocked. His kids...

He couldn't protect them.

Dottore failed too. He failed to his kids, to his children. He failed.

From that day, Sucrose couldn't fail again. Is a debt she wouldn't pay never, neither in her next lives. Her regret was so pure, that Dottore could see it.

Dottore, once again, trusted Sucrose to do a task. Now, going huge.

She changed her whole life, her whole knowledge, just to fulfill a task. She got recommended to the Knights of Favonius by the Fatui, since the Knights have a Debt with Fatui as well. And, as soon as they could contact Fatui once again, Sucrose got hired to work as the Chief Alchemist Assistant.

She would still be an Electro Cicin Mage, but that job wouldn't be that often.

Though, that fresh new lifestyle she got was... refreshing. She loved it. Yet, she loved walking on the cold streets of the Underground office. But not yet, she's not coming home yet.

She loved everything. It was a new point of view. The sunlight almost made her blind, but it was okay. She got a nice job.

But she can't forget she's looking for information about that one red energy that emanates from the Blond Prince, who is, casually, the Chief Alchemist of the Knights of Favonius.

Sucrose, look straight forward to your future.

But can she do it?
