Work Text:

Sister Mary Constance, Directress of the Wiltshire Day School for Young Witches and Wizards, has a recurring headache and her name was Lyra Granger-Malfoy.

The little girl had the face of an angel, with curly blonde hair, round pink cheeks, and big gray eyes. She also had the temper of a Blast Ended Skrewt and a propensity for stirring up trouble with Isidora Lovegood-Nott.

This morning, the destructive duo decided the school fountain needed a change in color and consistency.

“Mr. Malfoy, this is the third time we've had to meet to discuss Lyra's...proclivities. She-”

Sister Mary Constance let out an exasperated sigh. She was a Woman of God, a pillar of strength and patience.

But as she looked at Draco Malfoy, who was ignoring her and simply making googly eyes at his giggling daughter, she wanted to scream and pull her hair out.

“Mister Malfoy.”

“Hmm?”

Before she could voice her complaint, the door opened to Hermione Granger.

“My apologies, Sister Mary Constance. My last meeting took longer than expected.”

She could only nod as Hermione took her seat, only slightly mollified that the Minister for Magic knew her name.

“It’s fine, Mrs. Malfoy. We were just beginning to discuss Lyra's recent...incident. This morning was-“

“I’ve been briefed about the incident, and you can be sure there will be a very stern reprimand.”

Banishing the twinge of annoyance at being interrupted, she answered, "Minister, Lyra turning the school fountain into pink jelly after a bet with Ms. Lovegood-Nott is not the first time we've had to summon you."

Granger looked sharply at the two on the seat beside her.

"My apologies. Your letters may have been...redirected."

The duo had the decency to look down in fake shame.

"Two months ago, Lyra turned Alexa Corner’s hair orange."

Hermione's eyes widened as she glared at Lyra. The little girl glared back.

"She said I go to school in diapers, Mummy!"

"We don't use magic to be mean to people, Lyra!"

"Daddy said I can if they were mean first!"

Sister Mary Constance fought off a smirk as she watched the family bicker.

Deciding to add fuel to the fire, she interjected, "Last month, you put Albus Potter in a chokehold and tried to cut his hair." (They were unruly like his father’s, in Sister Mary’s opinion, so good riddance in her opinion).

"I wanted black hair and he was being a scaredy cat!"

Hermione sent a warning look at Lyra, who then hid her face in Draco's neck. He looked at Hermione, both pleading and guilty. She huffed.

"We'll talk about this later."

The unfurling Granger-Malfoy family drama in front of her was delicious. The Sisters will be in for a treat when she lays it out to them later.

Hermione turned to her and put on her best “I-am-Minister-let’s-talk-about-this-I-need-this-under-wraps” look.

Thirty minutes later, she held a cheque for the newest wing of the school library (included in a standard Malfoy Industries non-disclosure agreement and a special hex should she let the story "slip", much to her chagrin) as she walked the family out of her office.

She watched the Minister continue to berate her husband and daughter as they moved away. The woman was indeed not to be trifled with. She hoped she never had to meet her again.

Sister Mary Constance chuckled. At least the little Malfoy was going to get her due. Maybe her blonde headache will go away soon, preferably to another school.

Before the family rounded the corner, Lyra looked up and stared at her. With a quick glance to check that her parents weren't looking, she stuck her tongue out before smirking.

A split second after, Draco Malfoy looked back and sneered.

Sister Mary Constance shook her head. Lyra Malfoy wasn't her only headache.

It was the entire Granger-Malfoy brood.
