Chapter Text
It’s been a month since the boat hailing from Inazuma, in which Ganyu was aboard, arrived at the docks of the Liyue Harbor. The same that carried the stowaway oni, Arataki Itto. He managed to stay after some negotiations from, his now girlfriend, Ganyu, and the captain of the ship, who found their story amusing and let them be.
They were really excited and deeply in love, but when the boat got to the harbor, they also reached the conclusion that the decision of Itto coming to Liyue was… a bit rushed.
Itto, as he just got aboard the ship in a heartbeat, didn’t bring anything with him, not even changes of clothes, having to ask the sailors of the boat to kindly lend him some clothes to survive the trip. He had to write a letter as soon as possible, asking one of the members of his gang to bring his things.
On the other hand, Ganyu was having the feeling that her house… Well, wasn’t suited for the both of them. As she spent the best part of the day working, her house was more like an utilitary place, where she could sleep, bathe, and on some occasions, cook something to keep her functioning.
So, when they arrived at her house… It didn’t give a really good impression. The building was quite run down, as Ganyu bought it like… three, four hundred years ago?
Being quite small for two people to live in, as the half-qilin didn’t think she would share it, the interior was… quite a mess. As she was leaving Liyue, she didn’t have the time to clean it, nor did she have the time any other moment, her work keeping her too busy to care about chores.
Itto didn’t really care that much about it, though he was still quite surprised. He thought that Ganyu would be the type of girl who would have her home neatly arranged, really pretty and all that. And, still, his house back at Inazuma wasn’t really that better.
Still, the half-qilin was quite embarrassed, telling him to just stand there as she put herself to arrange that mess as fast as lightning, a light-blue coloured blur cleaning the house faster than the human eye could see.
They didn’t stay too long in that house, though.
It was, really, quite small and beat up. And though love could overlook anything, and being so close to each other wasn’t really that bad, a week later Ganyu had already bought a new house. Just like that. No mortgage, no debts, she just bought it.
How could she buy a fairly new, quite big two story house in Liyue just like that, you may ask?
Well, you see, she’s been working for the Qixing of Liyue for quite a few years, and as she isn’t really a big spender, she’d been saving for some hundreds of years, so it isn’t really a surprise that the numbers of her bank account have so many zeros. In fact, she could have bought a few more houses like that, and she would still have money to purchase and fully own a fleet of ships (crew included) and have them retrieve her boyfriend’s things back at Inazuma.
So, she asked for a few days off at work, while she and Itto worked on the move and went shopping, deciding and buying together the furniture of their new house.
Speaking of work… All her acquaintances were… shocked, to say the least.
Ganyu was a woman known for her meekness and the stillness in her way of living, never assuming risks or big changes. But she had gone for a few weeks to Inazuma for business, and had come back holding hands with a two meters tall oni who she called “her partner”, and were already living under the same roof.
The first one to notice them was Beidou, who happened to be in the docks as her boat, the Alcor, dropped anchor just some minutes before theirs.
Beidou was acquainted with the oni, as she would sometimes hire his muscle for unloading the cargo of her fleet back at Inazuma, but seeing him so close to Ganyu really startled the captain. As she saw from afar the both of them happily chat, their hands held, couldn’t resist the urge to tease her adeptus friend.
Ganyu, at first, perhaps in embarrassment, tried to hide the obvious fact that they were dating, but she had to finally admit it to Beidou.
From there, the fact that they were dating spread like wildfire. Soon, all her friends knew it and congratulated her, wishing them well and asking all kinds of questions, like how they met, how did they fall in love, and all sorts of love-related concerns, to which Ganyu answered in the best of her capabilities, quite flustered as she wasn’t used to be the center of attention.
But the one most baffled by the sudden changes was, obviously, Itto.
He’s the one that decided to come, and he couldn’t be happier with his decision, being here with Ganyu, but he’s had to restructure his entire life.
With all the work with the new house and Ganyu having to work, he’d taken the role of house husband. Cleaning, cooking for her wife and doing all the basic chores of the house had become his routine, which he found quite thrilling, actually. Sometimes, he would also help Ganyu in her work. He isn’t acquainted with paperwork, but when his girlfriend is very busy and has to deliver documents to some establishments in Liyue, it is her boyfriend who does it. It also helps him to grow familiar with his new home, the big city of Liyue, and allows him to meet its people.
Still, he misses the social interaction, the lively oni being quite a people’s man. However, Ganyu has promised him that, when she has some free time, she’s going to present him to all her friends, so he’s looking towards it, quite excited to meet all the people Ganyu considers her friends.
Now, Ganyu tries to do the least overtime possible, in contrast to her past routine, where she would even thank the additional work.
Instead, she’s glad to come back home with her boyfriend. The feeling of home, after all these years, almost moves her to tears every time she comes through the door for a lively house, and not her last house, where only darkness and silence would greet her.
Now, she has someone other than the nothingness to say her welcome. Now, she again has a place to call home.
