Work Text:
“Hey, Setsuna? I think I want to… try writing a song.”
Setsuna stared at Nana with her mouth hung open. She was eating breakfast and dropped her fork. A second goes by before she smiles, eyes sparkle, and excitedly grabs Nana’s hands. “Really?! Oh my god! What kind of song?! Are you gonna sing it?! Oh, oh! We can come up with lyrics together! And I can get the recording club to record it too!” Setsuna was talking fast and getting closer and closer to Nana.
“Woah woah, slow down!” Nana tried to get some space between them. “Calm it down, you’re scaring me onee-chan.”
“...Oh, right…” Setsuna backed off a bit. “But this is incredible! What made you decide to do this if you don’t mind me asking?”
“Well, I figured I might as well give it a try, you know? I always see you having fun writing songs so I want to try…” Nana admittedly was always curious why Setsuna was so invested in being a school idol. She enjoys the music but doesn’t see herself taking part in that world. “I’m a musician like you, so it shouldn’t be completely off the table for me.”
“I’m so happy that you want to try! Get ready for Setsuna’s music theory classes! I’m not letting my music theory knowledge go to waste, come on now!” Nana was starting to rethink her choices but there’s no stopping the stars in Setsuna’s eyes. Before she realized what’s happening, Nana was dragged into their shared room.
“Woah! Setsuna! Slow down!”
“SETSUNA SCARLET STORM!!!” The door busted open as Setsuna yelled out. Soon books and papers were flying left and right before the older twin got herself together on her desk. Nana sat on her desk chair unsure about what’s happening. Then, in front of Nana was Setsuna sitting on her chair with a notebook and pen. “Tell me everything!”
“...about…?”
“What you want the song to be like! Or rather, an inspiration! We can build off an idea from that!”
“W-well… I’ve been thinking… something like a love song, for a light novel I’ve been reading. I’ve been telling you about it, what do you think?”
Setsuna thought for a second. “It can definitely work! A bratty girl in love, it’s perfect! Now I need to know this, are you going to sing it? Just so I know if I need to train you or not. You need basic training, no offense.”
“None taken, I know. Believe me.” Nana thought for a second. “I do want to sing it.”
Setsuna smiles at her with glee. “Let's get started then!”
The next two months had been hell but it was all worth it. Nana got some serious training from Setsuna as well as the ins and outs of writing music. Writing lyrics was also a lot of work but Nana fairly enjoyed herself. Once the song and choreography were done and put together, the club got to sit together and watch her perform.
While Nana wanted the club to watch her perform, it was still a little embarrassing for her to do it. Feeling her face burning as she sang and danced for them. But, everyone loved it and showed their support to the student council president. Setsuna ran up to her little sister. “Nana!”
“Woah-!” Nana was startled by her big sister as she came in for a hug.
“That was awesome! You did incredible!”
Nana smiled. “Thank you, onee-chan. I had a lot of fun.”
“Does this mean-“
“I’m still not interested in being a school idol. So no, heart.” Signing a heart to her.
