Chapter Text
Noctis eyes flew open only to immediately close again the light so blinding bright than it physically hurt. His entire body ached all over even his bed sheets felt sandpaper against his skin but despite all that he laughed, or tried to anyway, what escaped his bone-dry throat was more of a strangled coughing sound than anything else.
But he didn’t care it was over, they were safe, it was finally over.
A loud clattering sound came from the foot of the bed followed by rushed footsteps and he found himself being manhandled into a sitting position as someone’s hands fluttered about his face. Checking his air way maybe? He mange to rasp out a
“Stop that” at which point this person stopped and softly almost fearfully replied
“Did? Did you just talk” again Noctis manged to rasp a
“Ya” from his now burning throat. After a short pause the woman started shouting
“His awake! His awake!” as she ran from his side. Not long latter several more footsteps joined the first and these new comers start to talk over each other loudly and quickly Noctis couldn’t make out what they were saying but a weight is removed from his head and he was gently moved into a much more comfortable sitting position. Finally, a voice he actually recognized spoke his doctor
“Your Highness can you hear me”
“Ya” again his throat burned but someone having finally heard the rasp in his voice voice, took pity on him and he was asked to open his mouth so he could have some ice chips while the curtains where draw darkening the room enough for him to open his eyes. He was in his bed, in his room, in the Citadel surrounded by medical personnel and equipment.
His doctor asked him to try to move as much as he could one body part at a time. This proved to not be much. His arms legs and head where like lead he could, barely lift them at all but the Doc seemed pleased by the movement he did have and said that with some work he’d be back to normal in no time.
Before they could go further however there was a commotion at the door and in burst his father who rushed over to his bed and enveloped him in a hug, tears falling down his cheeks as for the first time in two years Noctis even if weakly returned his embrace.
