F: Feelings

Summary:

Dean and Cas have feelings for each other. Sam can't handle it anymore and decided that it needs to be fixed, and it needs to be fixed soon.

Notes:

This one is long, probably the longest I'll write for this series. So buckle up and enjoy it. This is just over 2600 words of mostly Sam meddling while Dean and Cas pine over each other but enjoy

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Everyone knew Dean liked Cas, and Cas liked Dean: except Dean and Cas. Everyone was tired of it, the staring, the standing obnoxiously too close, the almost flirting. It was too much; they needed to figure out what was going to between them before everyone around them went crazy. Sam was especially over it, he’s the one that had to live with the two and he’s had enough. Time to start meddling.

***

“So Cas, the guy at the diner was flirting with you.” Sam said when the three were all back into the impala, heading to their hotel where they were staying for this case. Sam wasn’t totally lying, the host was giving Cas the eye when the three entered, and continued up until Dean paid and they left.

“Was he, I guess I didn’t notice.” Cas looked out the window. He didn’t notice the slight saw Dean’s fingers tightened on the steering wheel, but Sam did.

“Oh yeah. Maybe we can go back tomorrow and see if he’s still there. You could ask for his number.”

“That would be very unpractical Sam. We’ll be leaving town in a few days. No time to date someone in such a short time.” Sam wanted to roll his eyes at Cas’ answer.

“I know Cas, but one night of fun doesn’t hurt anyone. I mean we aren’t too far from the bunker so I mean you could drive out if we’re not on a case.”

“Sam, he said no. So drop it.” Dean barked out, never taking his eyes off the road.

Sam rolled his eyes and tried not to smirk. The host at the restaurant didn’t check Cas out a few times but that was really it. Sam just wanted to see how Dean would react to someone flirting with Cas. And he got his answer.

“I would like to go back tomorrow. Dinner was very good so I’m guessing they would have good breakfast. If he’s there tomorrow I’ll talk to him but if not we’ll drop it. Right Sam?”

“Right Cas.”

They did go back the next morning, and the host was not there. Sam noticed that Cas was a little upset about it. Dean was smug; knowing that Cas didn’t get the other guys number. Sam officially had to move to phase two of getting Destiel to admit feelings. Easier said then done it seems.

***

Two weeks later Sam decided to try again. The brothers were in town getting supplies, while Castiel waited for them at the bunker. Sam was at the hardware store getting some more supplies for hunts while Dean was at the grocery store, stocking up on food for the bunker.

Sam got everything he needed and Dean still wasn’t there so he had to drag everything back to the grocery store where Dean apparently still was. After Sam got everything loaded into the car he went into the grocery store to hopefully find his brother somewhere. He did talking to a woman in the pasta isle and by the look of the cart Dean hasn’t made much progress with the groceries.

“Dean if we don’t get back soon Cas will think something happened to us and worry.” Sam said coming up to stand beside his brother.

“Fine, but you need to help me now.” Dean turned away but not before sending the woman a wink over his shoulder.

True to what Sam said Cas was standing in the garage of the bunker, looking about ready to climb into his truck and come find the brothers. Sam knew what he had to say to make Cas jealous this time.

“Where have you two been? You said you’d be less than two hours, and it has been well over two hours.”

“Sorry Cas, Dean was flirting and get distracted.” Sam grabbed the things he bought at the hardware store from the back seat and into the bunker.

Sam didn’t hear Cas’ response but did notice the hurt look in Cas’ eyes. He wasn’t sure if it was from the brothers coming back later than planned or if it was from Dean’s flirting with someone else. Sam was leaning more toward the seconds, considering the look was directed at Dean not both of them. Time to move on the phase three, with would hopefully be the last part of Sam’s plan.

***

This time they were at a bar. Dean and Cas were sitting at a table while Sam was at the bar. He was hoping to find two people to go and flirt with the two idiots who refused to flirt with each other. Sam thinks he’s found the perfect people. There was a group of 5-6 guys who just walked in. Sam was hoping all or at least some would come to the bar by him so he could convince (pay of needed) them to go and flirt with the pining idiots. Luck seemed to be on Sam’s side today, three of the men walked toward the bar. They ordered and while they were waiting Sam got the attention.

“Hey can I ask a weird favor. Feel free to say no to me and walk away and forget this conversation ever happened.” Sam said.

“Sure dude. What do you need?” One of them asked, he was on the shorter side coming up to Sam’s shoulders, with blond hair and blue eyes.

“Are you or any of your friends gay or into guys in some way?” Sam could see that he was getting some weird looks now. “I know that it seems weird but my brother and best friend both like each other but they’re too far up their own asses to admit it to each other. And I’ve been using chance encounters to make them jealous and it’s working. And I’m pretty sure that I can push them both over the edge tonight is they both get flirted with. Please they’ve been doing this for several years now and I can’t take the tension anymore.” Sam knew he was pleading, but he didn’t care at this point.

“Sure man. I think we can help you out.” Said another one. He was looking Sam in the eye, which is he not used to. He had dark brown hair and dark brown eyes.

“I’ll grab Zach and inform him.” Said the first guy. He grabbed two of the drinks waiting on the bar and walked back to the table.

“Thank you. But wait for a while. Wait until they’re separated. Dean’s had almost enough to drink where he’ll want to play pool. Cas will wait at the table for him. Tell your friends to approach then.” Sam said to the guy still at the bar.

“You got it. And no payment necessary, you look like this is important.” He grabbed the remaining drinks and went back to his friends. Sam ordered another round of beers to take back to Dean and Cas.

Sam was right after Dean finished his beer he stood up declaring he was going to play some pool. Cas nodded and watched him leave. Sam got up with the excuse he was going to the bathroom. Leaving Cas by himself at the table. Sam took longer than needed in the bathroom hoping that when we came out the guys had approached Dean and Cas and the plan was working.

And it totally was. The guy that Sam was talking to was standing at the pool table with Dean, holding a pool que and standing probably a little too close. The other guy was sitting at the table with Cas. Sam decided to let them both be and decided to play darts, mostly because he could see both Dean and Cas from the dartboards. Sam kept a closer eye on Dean, and he was right to. The guy was getting closer to Dean as the two of them played pool. Sam watched as Dean let it happen, but he could see Dean’s eyes kept moving to look over at the table where Cas was being flirted with. The rest of the group of guys joined Sam at the dartboards.

“I see it’s working. Zach’s really working your friend at the table and Willy is really doing the same with your friends playing pool. So I think it’s going to work.” The guy from the bar said to Sam.

“Hope so. If it doesn’t I might just force to two to kiss and hope for the best. I’m Sam.” Sam held his hand out for the other guy to shake.

“Auston, this is Mitch, and Freddie.” He said pointing to a shorter brunette and a tall ginger.

“Just so you know we’re all gay. Zach and Willy are together but I’m not surprised Willy volunteered them to do this. Their relationship is a bit open as long as they both agree. I know that Auston would never allow the two of us to do that. Someone get a little jealous.” Mitch said, stepping up beside Auston and grabbing his hand.

“Anything as long as it gets Dean and Cas together.”

“Well don’t look now but it might not be going as well as planed.” Mitch said pointing over to the table where Cas was.

Sam was shocked to see Cas and Zach kissing; and quite intensely. Sam looked over at Dean and Dean had noticed as well. Dean was no longer playing pool but staring over at Cas kissing some stranger. Sam didn’t know what would happen next. Normally it didn’t get this far, people would flirt with Cas but a stranger has never tried to kiss him. Dean didn’t look impressed by this development and before Sam could step in Dean was throwing his pool cue down and storming over to Cas.

“Aww shit. I hope your friend can handle a punch or two.” Sam said dropping the darts in his hand and racing toward the table, hoping to get there before Dean could resort to violence.

“Are you going to come up for air their asshole.” Dean grabbed Zach by the back of his neck and pulling him back from Cas.

“What’s your problem, this your boyfriend?”

“No but…” Dean was cut off before he could say anymore.

“But nothing. I found someone and so did you. So either give me a reason that I can’t kiss him or go away. We were enjoying ourselves.”

“Cas let’s go.” Dean didn’t wait for a response and grabbed Cas by the coat and left the bar, not even looking back and leaving before Sam could even exit the bar.

“Sorry man. We were having a good talk and he asked for it. I didn’t realize it would cause your other friend to freak out like that.” Zach said.

“It’s alright, I wasn’t expecting that either. But would you guys mind giving me a drive. My brother drove off with Cas and it’s the only car we have.”

“Sure handsome. Maybe I can sit on your lap.” Willy said with a wink.

“Willy behave.” Zach reprimanded his boyfriend leading the group out of the bar and to their cars.

Dean and Cas were sitting quietly in the impala as Dean drove back to the bunker. Cas would feel bad about everything that happened but why should he? Dean was flirting with the blond while playing pool, so when Zach sat down and started flirting with Cas he went with it. Cas knew he was awkward about it but he really did try his best to try and flirt with the handsome man who sat down with him at the table. Cas was pretty sure that Sam had something to do with what happened tonight. Cas saw him talking to the guys at the bar and when the three split up Dean and Cas were both approached and flirted with and Sam stood off to the side, with the rest of the group watching. Suspicions if you asked Cas.

“Are we going to talk about it?” Cas asked, he was tired of the silence.

“About what?” Oh so we’re playing dumb now, cool.

“You know exactly what I’m talking about. It’s okay for you to flirt and play pool with a handsome stranger, but when one kisses me it’s game over. You kiss strangers all the time Dean. Why can’t I every once and a while. I was actually enjoying myself for the first time in a while.”

Dean pulled over to the side of the road leading to the bunker, slamming on the breaks and turning off the car. Dean turned in his seat to look at Cas, but Cas was holding firm. Dean was being ridiculous. Cas wasn’t going to let Dean walk all over him about this.

“Because I didn’t like it alright Cas, now can we drop it?”

“No Dean we can’t drop it. We’re going to talk about this no matter how long it takes us. I’m good to stay here all night, how about you?” Cas was challenging Dean now, wanting to see how far he could push him before he snapped.

“Well I said drop it so let’s just stop talking about it and go back to the bunker.”

“Whatever Dean. You could’ve at least let me get the guys number before we left or grabbed Sam. But no you were so jealous you stormed out of the without thinking about what I wanted or thinking of grabbing your brother.”

“I said drop it!” Dean was about to lose it and Cas knew. But Cas also knew this was the only way to get dean to talk about what his problem was. Dean didn’t talk about feeling until he literally blew up about them. And he was about to blow.

“Are you jealous Dean?” Cas unbuckled his seat belt and moved across the bench seat to get closer to Dean.

“No, why would I be?”

“It’s okay if you are. I was jealous to see you flirting with the blond guys. Even though you looked so hot playing pool tonight.” Cas was pressed against Dean’s side now, totally in his personal space but Cas didn’t care.

“Cas what?” Dean turned to look at Cas, so close they were breathing the same air.

“It’s true Dean, and I know you were jealous don’t try to deny it. Now I’m going to kiss you.”

Dean didn’t get the chance to respond before Cas was leaning over and kissing Dean. Dean didn’t know what to do. It felt wrong but so, so he kissed back. He kissed until he started to feel light headed from not breathing. He pulled back with a gasp. He knew how he probably looked, red lips, wide eyes. But what’s a man to do? His best friend and person of all his fantasies just kissed him.

“Cas.” Dean didn’t whimper it out he totally didn’t (he totally dud and it made Cas smirk).

“Drive back to the bunker and we’ll continue.” Cas moved back to his seat and buckled up.

It took a few minutes for Dean’s brain to start working again and for him to start the car and drive the few remaining minutes back to the bunker. It didn’t take long for them to be out of the car and inside the bunker. Stopping and stealing kisses along the way to Dean’s room. Neither was sure where the night was going but both were too happy to stop and ask.

***

When Sam finally made it back to the bunker with Auston’s number and a promise to text to see if the plan worked, it was quiet. Sam checked the garage and Baby was here so the other two had to be here somewhere. So Sam set out looking for the apir and it didn’t take long to locate them from the trail of cloths from the garage to Dean’s room. He didn’t dare open the door to check on the two, but before going to bed that night he did send one text reading…

Can’t thank you guys enough it worked. Just hope them together isn’t as nauseating as the pining. Let me know if you guys ever need anything. I’ll own you for three lifetimes now.

Notes:

Can anyone guess the five character I added. They're all real people, but not supernatural related.
