Work Text:

Late.  1/1.

Clicking the key fob at the roadster the red head grimaced and looked up at the house.  No lights were on but the upstairs window was half open and the vertical blinds rustled against the screen.  The sun was down but the heat still lingered inland.  She was glad of the commute now that she was being kissed by the coastal breeze.  Smoke filled the air, but she couldn’t hear anyone tending the bonfire that was sure to be nearby.  Walking on tip-toe, she made it up the front walk quietly.  She slipped out of her heels and into the house with them dangling from her fingers.

Leaning against the door, the tall doctor breathed in listening to the sounds of the house and glad to be home.  The door was solid behind her and a good reminder of the other reasons why she worked so hard for so long.  Headache, backache, and leg ache after long days in the OR sometimes chipped away the shine that new life was supposed to bring.  Some days she was brought down by people who didn’t want what was happening or who didn’t tend to their own needs which led her to believe they wouldn’t tend to this new bundle of joy’s needs either.  On those days, she needed to be reminded that the world was not so bad and that her work brought her a life that she had always wanted to be accustomed to.

Smirking a little, Addison stepped forward again.  On days like these, the reminder of how good life really was, well, it was upstairs, and it might just slap her in the face to make sure she knew how good her life was.  Reaching the landing, Addison tugged her shirt out of her skirt, unbuttoned it and pulled the zipper of her skirt down as she headed toward the bedroom.  They hadn’t been living together very long, but Addison knew her prima donna would be wrapped in the luxury of their bed.  Letting out a breathy snort, Addison murmured, “Prima ballerina.”  Thinking of legs almost as long as her own, Addison stepped into the bedroom hoping to find her lover.

“Where have you been?”  The words were ground out against the shell of her ear as her lover roughly pulled her back by the fabric of her shirt.  Addison gasped, said nothing, and smiled.

The room was silent except for their breathing.

Gathering the loose fabric in her fists, the shorter redhead hissed again, “Where have you been?  Where?”  She held the doctor in place as she rose up on tip-toe and bit her neck.

Fin.
