Chapter 1: Champagne showers

Chapter Text

Yoongi knew he should have never attended that stupid Christmas party, for the life of him he wish he stayed home that day. But something urged him to go, or someone. To go and show /him/ that he doesn’t need them anymore, that he had completely moved on. Or so he thinks.

He watched every single one of the male’s moves, the way he greeted everyone in the room with a heart stretched smile. Yoongi’s heart twinged when that smile he used to love fell once it was directed his way.

Suddenly the male was now approaching Yoongi, with slow and long strides. And Yoongi hoped he couldn’t read his expressions, that he forgot how to read his eyes. An arm snaked around his waist as a kiss was planted on his cheek. He watched the male’s figure go rigid, eyes briefly turning sad before he covered it up with a smile.

“It’s been a while hasn’t it, Yoongi-ssi.” The male’s voice was like a lost melody, a perfect note that the composer had been searching for. He placed a simple kiss on Yoongi’s hand, eyes catching a glimpse of the shiny ring. The spot where he had kissed flared upon Yoongi’s skin. He hated every lasting second that passed where he stared into his eyes, unlocking memories that are meant to stay buried.

“I have nothing left to say to you, Jung.” The name tasted like venom as it rolled off his tongue, his palms just a moment away from bleeding  by the nails digging into them. “Now if you’d excuse me, my fiance and I were about to take our leave.” And just like that, Yoongi slipped away from Hoseok, in the arms of /his/ fiance and a broken heart.

He wished, maybe even prayed for Hoseok to tell him not to leave, to beg for him to stay. But he didn’t. He never kept Yoongi back, and that’s what Yoongi loved the most about him. He grabbed his coat, placing it on before he turned back. He watched as Hoseok downed a glass of champagne. Then another, before he knew it the tray of empty glasses were sent back to the kitchen.

Yoongi shouldn't care. He shouldn’t mind the tears gathering in the latter’s eyelids. He turned his head away, hoping his heart was making the right decision this time around.

The car ride was silent, the only sounds were Yoongi's Uneven breathing and his fiance’s, Park Sejin, fingers tapping on the steering wheel. Sejin rested a hand on Yoongi’s thigh and the touch burned like a sin. It shouldn’t bother him, he is not obligated to feel guilty.

Even later that night, he couldn’t go through with having sex, despite doing it a few times with Sejin. His kisses made Yoongi feel dirty, and felt like committing a dangerous crime, almost moaning another’s name rather than his future husband’s. He stopped immediately, jumping out of his lover’s lap and running towards the bathroom.

“Babe, are you alright?” Sejin asked with a knock on the door. Yoongi bit back a sob, lips shading crimson as he chewed on them. “Want me to come in?” He attempted to open the door but Yoongi shot up and held the door closed.

“I-I’m fine Sejinie, just feeling unwell.” Yoongi said softly. “Go to bed without me.” After a bit of convincing Sejin finally gave in, muttering something about Yoongi always leaving him blue-balled.

He laid up in bed that night, listening to Sejin’s loud snores and his unwanted thoughts.

Hoseok stumbled around the streets, giggling his head off at his own joke. He was aware of the direction he was going, and sober Hoseok would never step foot near that place. But drunk Hoseok does whatever the fuck he wants, and he wants to go to Yoongi. So with a skip in his step (and almost falling on his face) he somehow winded up on the all too familiar doorstep.

Maybe screaming the lyrics of 2U by Justin Bieber, and waking up half the neighbourhood was a bad idea, but it had gotten Yoongi out of bed. Though he was glaring at him, which put a pout on Hoseok’s face. Hmph, sober Yoongi is mean .

“I’m very happy for you hyung” Hoseok smiled, drunkenly slumping on the edge of the balcony. Yoongi stood there with crossed arms, completely unamused seeing his ex-boyfriend drunk off champagne and it’s the peak of midnight for fuck sakes.

“Go home Hoseok, my fiance is upstairs and it’s cold out” Yoongi said sternly, watching the taller wobble around. Hoseok didn’t budge, still grinning like an idiot. Yoongi hates the cold, always used to whine about the temperature.

“I came to see you.” His speech was a little slurred and his breath was visible in the winter air. Yoongi was clad up in the pair of pyjamas hoseok had gifted him, along with a brown robe and slippers. Hoseok was still in his party attire, his tie loosened and neck filled with lipstick stains and light hickies.

“Didn’t I make it clear to you, I’ve moved on!”  Yoongi lied through his teeth, hoping to sound convincing enough. He’d be lying if he also said those marks didn’t hurt him. It’s none of his business anyways. Yoongi least expected Hoseok to belt out a laugh, making him frown.

“Your eyes tell a different story, Hyung.” Hoseok said after he calmed down, causing Yoongi to scoff in disbelief.

“Tell me then, give me a quick summary.” Yoongi challenged, knowing all too well that Hoseok is too drunk to even read his eyes.

“You’re sad. You tried to forget all of the memories we had, from the dances in the rain to the cheap diner food we ate whenever we were hungry.” Hoseok said, “You’re still unsure of which direction to go, whether it’s marriage or something more.”

“You’re wrong.” Yoongi said straightforwardly, eyes brimming with tears. “I’m not hung up on the past, I am going to get married soon.” He told Hoseok, though convincing himself will be difficult. “Now leave before my fiance wakes up.” Hoseok kneeled down, holding back the sobs he bottled up.

“Hoba~ get up” and Yoongi didn’t even notice the nickname slipping out, the name once again etching itself on Yoongi’s heart. It hurt, the unwanted guilt, the pain he buried in the back of his mind resurfacing.

“Don’t marry him, please.” Hoseok cried out, gripping the collar of Yoongi’s robe. Yoongi was in the midst of reaching out, hands stopping upon the sound of hurried footsteps coming from inside his home.

“You can’t ask that from me, let me go Hoseok.” Yoongi put up a hard front again, face stone cold as he ripped Hoseok’s hands off his robe. Hoseok trembled against the fence of the balcony, pulling himself up off the floor. “Leave, or I will call the police.”

“I never stopped loving you, hyung.” Hoseok chuckles softly. “You will always have my heart, and I know deep down, I will always have yours”. When Yoongi stayed silent, Hoseok said his final words.

“New Years eve, meet me at our spot before 12AM, I will wait for you.” Hoseok walked away, taking Yoongi’s breath away with how fast he sobered up.

“Who was that babe?” Sejin asked, wrapping his arms around Yoongi’s waist as he pouted softly. Yoongi flinched upon the contact, placing his own shaky hands on his fiance’s. This is what he wanted, someone to keep him grounded, not someone who forced him to dance in the rain despite his hate for the cold.

“The rain is misunderstood.” He says, twirling Yoongi around and dipping. “It just wants to dance with everyone, hence why it makes soothing music when it hits the ground.” He pulled a very giggly Yoongi up and pecked his lips. He doesn’t need someone who takes him out to cheap dinners when Sejin could easily take him to a fancy restaurant to dine with the wealthy, no matter how much it costs.

“Aren’t you going to eat your fries and milkshake hoba?” Yoongi would ask, cheeks stuffed to the brim with his burger. Hoseok would shake his head, saying something like “Watching you enjoy your food makes me full.” Causing Yoongi to blush and turn his head.

He doesn’t need Hoseok.

New Year's Eve came quicker than expected. Yoongi had explained his ex-boyfriend drama to Sejin, which he took in quite well. Now, Yoongi was at another party, sorted by his and Sejin’s parents, midnight on its way as he watched the clock.

He didn’t even bother engaging in any conversation, mind too preoccupied with Hoseok. Every single one of his friends were at the party, laughing together as they reminisce on the past year. They tried so hard to pull Yoongi into their conversation, but no matter how hard they try, Yoongi’s focus would still be on the clock.

Soon the countdown started, lights dimming as they start from 10.

Sejin connected their lips, quick and unsteady. Yoongi pulled away quickly, mouth burning as he bit back a cry. He was supposed to have a happy new year, yet he didn’t even come remotely close to happiness.

“Go to him.” Sejin said, offering a small broken smile.

“I’m sorry Sejinie- I really-

“Don’t worry, I’ve known you weren't in love once you stopped wearing the ring.” Sejin spoke tenderly, making Yoongi tear up.

“I’m sorry, I really tried to fall in love with you.” Yoongi held his hand softly, caressing the back of his knuckles. Sejin smiled, pulling yoongi forward to plant one final kiss to his temple.

“Go before you lose him.” And Yoongi had never run so fast in his life. He noticed the snow on the ground and immediately took off sprinting.

Hoseok’s figure was shaking as he held the bouquet of plastic roses in his hand, smile almost breaking as he wobbled. From the distance he could see a familiar silhouette coming at him at full speed. It was a little after 1AM in the morning and he had been standing there since 9PM.

“Hoba, how long have you been standing there?” Yoongi asked, grabbing his  scarf and wrapping it around the pale redhead. He held Hoseok’s face in the  palm of is hands in hopes to warm them up quickly. Hoseok’s smile faltered before he wrapped his arms around Yoongi’s head, whimpering into his neck.

“I-I thought you really stopped loving me. I thought I lost my ability to read your eyes.” He cried, tears streaking his cheeks and Yoongi’s bare neck. “I thought I lost you-

“You will always have my heart, and I know that I will always have yours.” Yoongi re-quoted, holding the younger as if he was a fragile piece of glass. “Why did you leave, Hoba? Was it something I did?” Yoongi whispered.

“No! Don’t blame yourself for the reason I left!” Hoseok pulled back, cupping Yoongi’s cheek. The older leaned into the comforting touch, his own tears streaming down his face. “I was forced to leave, they would’ve hurt you!”

“Who? Tell me and I’ll have them on their knees begging for fucking mercy.” Now you see, if other people were there to witness Yoongi saying that, they would’ve been terrified. Except Hoseok wasn’t other people, and so he stared at Yoongi like he hung the fucking stars in the sky. He’s so in love.

“Promise you won’t get angry.” Hoseok said, holding his pinky out. Yoongi stared at it in disbelief, going as far as scoffing a little. “Hyung, I won’t tell you unless you promise.” He pushed his pinky forward causing Yoongi to roll his eyes while muttering “ childish ” under his breath before he linked his pinky with Hoseok’s.

“Fine, I won’t get angry.”

“Okay, it was your parents.” Hoseok said, watching Yoongi freeze in his spot. Yoongi’s eyes washed over with betrayal and hurt before lacing themselves with ferocity. “Oh no, I Know that look-”

“Let's go buy some gasoline Hoba.” Yoongi cut in, smiling innocently with eyes sparkling like a puppy. Hoseok quickly covered his eyes before Yoongi could pull out his ultimate weapon. The pout.

“What’s the gasoline for hyung?”

“So I can burn their fucking company to the ground and watch it crumble beneath my feet.” His voice was cherry  as he dragged Hoseok along. The redhead could only watch as Yoongi skipped around the building while pouring the liquid in every single corner, obviously dismissing everyone inside. Luckily it was New Years so only two security guards were on duty.

“Hyung, can’t we do this in a more legal and definitely not a life threatening way?” Hoseok said as he watched Yoongi pull out a box of matches.

“But I have to warm your hands up somehow Hoba, they almost made you freeze to death.” Hoseok took the box of matches out of Yoongi’s hands and placed them in his pocket. He  gave Yoongi a look which made the older sigh softly. “Anything you have in mind?”

“I have evidence that they threatened me and planned to get rid of me ever since we started dating. We can use that against them in court and sue them.” Hoseok held the USB up, a smirk plastered on his features.

“You had that in your pocket the entire time?” Yoongi asked, growing frustrated by the second. “I could’ve saved twenty bucks!” He finished, throwing the petrol can on the ground

“My love.” Yoongi hummed in response, eyes narrowed at the discarded gasoline can laying on the floor. “You’re rich.”

“Okay and? I could’ve bought at least 4 bowls of ramen '' Yoongi was still pondering about the waste of money. “You think we can still get a refund?”

“My love, that's not important right now- y’know what, let's try.” Hoseok picked the gasoline can and grabbed Yoong’s hand.

“Why didn’t you stop me from buying the gasoline by the way?”

“I couldn’t! You were so cute and determined to burn down your parent’s company.” Hoseok snickered, booping Yoongi’s scrunched nose. “Let’s go home baby.”

“Breaking news, this just in! Min corp has mysteriously caught fire, people believe teens were setting off firecrackers nearby. We encourage you to stay indoors and away from big smoke clouds-

Yoongi sat down on the sofa with a bowl of cereal, wearing nothing but his boxers and one of Hoseok’s Shirts. He switched the channel and started watching spongebob. Hoseok walked in with only grey sweats on, his upper body on full display. He scratched his stomach while yawning, leaning over the couch to place a kiss on Yoongi’s cheek.

“Morning my love, did you sleep well?” Hoseok asked, walking into the kitchen to make him a bowl of cereal aswell. Yoongi hummed in response, too invested in the episode to reply. Hoseok slumped down on the sofa as well, both now watching the television.

“I love you.” Hoseok blurted out. Milk shot out of Yoongi’s mouth and nose, choking on a piece of cereal as he turned his body around.

“Oh my life! I’m so sorry.” Yoongi wiped the milk off Hoseok’s cheek as the younger twitched his eye. “I love you too, darling.” He giggled, kissing Hoseok on the lips. Hoseok let out a strangled noise before deepening the kiss, heart warm and steady.

This is what Yoongi needed.

Hoseok in his life.
