Uenoyama is insecure.
For many reasons actually, first of all, he doesn’t like his rather intense resting bitch face that tends to scare people away, he doesn’t like the way his smile looks more like a scowl more times than others, but that’s not the point here. The point is that Mafuyu is far more experienced than him. It sounds stupid, it really does, he knows Mafuyu loves him regardless of his relationship experience, but he can’t help but worry.
Sometimes Uenoyama worries he’s a rebound. He knows Mafuyu is mostly over Yuki. He honestly doesn’t think Mafuyu will ever fully get over him though, considering their past, and sure, that hurts, it shouldn’t, but it does.
Sometimes he wonders if Mafuyu compares the two of them, sometimes he wonders how much better Yuki treated him, how much happier he used to be. He knows he shouldn’t hold onto the past, a past that wasn’t even his, but it’s one of those things you just can’t help.
Uenoyama tries to be a good boyfriend for Mafuyu, he tries so hard it’s almost comical. Sometimes he finds himself in a very much one-sided competition with Mafuyu’s ex-boyfriend, dead ex-boyfriend at that. It’s stupid, he knows that. he knows Mafuyu chose to be with him, he knows if Mafuyu wasn’t happy with him he would leave.
But he can’t help but worry.
