It took a lot of convincing, but Gyrus had managed to finally convince Iro that yes, he was indeed an adult man, and that he should be allowed to spend the night with Kodya if he so wishes. Gyrus pretended to ignore the glare Iro pointed towards their direction as he brought Kodya by the arm into their room, and once inside, he immediately shut the door behind them.
"Sorry about that," Gyrus immediately apologized, looking up at his partner with a sheepish smile. "I know he means well and I promise it's nothing against you, he's just ... well, really overprotective of me."
"I understand," Kodya sighed, averting his eyes away from Gyrus' own large ones. "I wish he wouldn't take so long to trust me, though. You saw me save his life, didn't you? What more can I even prove?"
Gryus spotted an annoyed pout on Kodya's lips and he couldn't help but crack a grin at the sight, it was so cute and so unlike Kodya to stress over someone's opinion on himself. Laughing, Gyrus placed his hand on the other man's shoulder, "Don't worry about it, I'm sure he'll come around eventually," he said in an attempt to reassure him.
Kodya only shrugged, not seeming to be fully convinced. "I guess so."
"Hey," Gyrus said, lowering his voice. He dropped his hand to the other's arm, soothingly rubbing it with his thumb. "We've had a long day today. Let's just ... try to to relax and take our minds off, alright? I don't know when will be the next time we can relax, even if it'll only be temporary."
Visible regret overtook Kodya's features. "I'm sorry Gyrus, you're right," he said, taking the hand Gyrus put on his arm, bringing it to his lips and lightly kissing his boyfriend's knuckles, "Since we're here, how about I take care of you for the night?"
Red immediately flushed Gyrus' cheeks, and his hand trembled under Kodya's own. "Um, do you mean s-sex?" he stammered, and Gyrus mentally cringed as his own voice hit his ears, he certainly wasn't acting like the mature twenty year old he claimed to be.
"If that's what you want, sure," Kodya replied with a shrug, a slightly amused expression on his face.
Gyrus slowly slid his hand away from Kodya's own, "I do want it, just ... not now. I don't think right now is the right time."
Ideally, his first time would be sometime after finally defeating Don, in their own house, living in a time period that they could both comfortably adjust to. The thought of sharing such an intimate moment in a stuffy room with the others close enough to overhear just ... didn't sit well with him.
Kodya nodded, understanding. "That's okay. What do you want us to do then?"
Gyrus closed his eyes to think about that question. Distant memories of his older, alternate self spending the night with Kodya flashed through his mind. Bittersweet nostalgia ran through him as he remembered all the times Kodya held him tight after the tough days they had.
"Um, I really miss those times you used to cuddle me," an embarassed blush then colored his face, God, he really does feel like an awkward teenager again, "and maybe a kiss would be nice too?" he added with a quiet squeak, biting his lip.
The other man blinked before a sly smile tugged on the corners of his lips. "You know you don't have to be so shy when you're with me, right?" Kodya teased, leaning in dangerously close to the other's space. Gyrus gulped.
Before Gyrus could say anything, Kodya cut him off by deeply pressing his lips against his own, closing the distance. Gyrus placed his hands on Kodya's face and gently pulled him forward. The two men broke contact for a moment so Kodya could catch his breath and shakily exhale, before Gyrus quickly plunged right back in.
Gyrus' body shuddered from pleasure, it's been long, far too long, since he's been kissed like this. Although the last kiss they shared wasn't that long ago, remembering it brought back melancholy feelings, as they had thought that would be the last time they would see each other. For the both of them, it was more of a desperate way to say goodbye than anything else.
With a soft whimper, Gyrus messily dug his fingers through Kodya's hair, unknowingly causing his hair tie to loosen and fall to the floor. They parted again to catch their breath, and Gyrus didn't miss the way Kodya's eyelids were lidded as he stared down at his lips, pupils blown wide.
"Hah, I think - I think we need to stop," Gyrus panted, before we go too far, he silently added, putting a hand on Kodya's chest.
Kodya was about to open his mouth in protest, until his gaze flickered further downward. He then suddenly understood. "Right, yeah," he replied awkwardly, a pink blush coloring his face.
Gyrus then glanced up, and his mouth formed a little 'o' in surprise.
"What?" Kodya asked.
"Your hair," Gyrus replied, not being able to resist running his fingers through it. He barely could contain his surprise at how soft it felt. "I think this is the first time I've seen it down."
The blush on Kodya's face turned noticeablely darker, and Gyrus smiled a little at the sight of it, he loved how easy it was to make the normally aloof man so flustered. "Do you like my hair like this?"
"Yeah," Gyrus breathed in response, "I like it a lot. Looks nice on you."
"Okay. I'll keep my hair down more often then."
Gyrus smiled and reached for Kodya's hand, squeezing it a little as he guided him towards their bed. Butterflies fluttered in his chest as he felt the other man squeeze back. It was the little things, you know?
Plopping himself on the edge of the bed, Gyrus kicked off his shoes, and went to discard the rest of his clothing; leaving only a plain white shirt and boxers on. Standing up, Kodya did the same, except his shirt was one of the first things he took off.
Gyrus whistled towards Kodya's direction as he watched the man undress. He couldn't help himself, he had a great body!
Kodya immediately halted as he was midway from taking off his pants, looking at Gyrus with an indescribable expression. For a second Gyrus was afraid he did something wrong, perhaps Kodya didn't want his body to be treated like that, until then in a quick flash, he found himself tackled on the bed. Kodya held him by the shoulders, staring down at Gyrus with a mischievous glint in his eyes. Before Gyrus could ask what he was doing, he started planting little kisses along Gyrus' jaw.
"You dork," Kodya breathed out, voice light and teasing, before he moved his lips further down his boyfriend's neck.
Gyrus clenched up and squirmed under his hold, and to his own dismay, little uncontrollable giggles started to come out of him. "S-Stop it, Kodya, that tickles," Gyrus cried out, gently trying to push the other's face away, but Kodya didn't budge.
"I know," Kodya replied, a grin on his lips. "I remember one night as I was spooning you and kissing the back of your neck, you woke up and just started laughing, trying to shove me away," his voice then lowered, becoming soft, "it was the first time I heard you laugh like that."
Like an old dream, Gyrus could only vaguely remember that. It's mostly hazy, but one thing he could vividly recall was the way Kodya stared him with wide eyes and a confused look on his face when he bursted out laughing. Kodya, however, quickly shifted to an expression of pure happiness and mischief as he dived in to continue torturing him, making it his goal to keep hearing his laughter. It always brought Gyrus strange feelings recalling these old memories, he knew that version of Gyrus was him in a way, but at the same time ... it wasn't.
His expression must've turned sour, because Kodya's lips twitched into a frown. "Hey, are you okay?" he asked, his voice so full of concern that it caused Gyrus' heart to ache.
"...Can I ask you something?"
"Lay it on me."
Gyrus sighed. "Do ... do you ever miss the old me? I know when you met me when I didn't have all my memories, I wasn't what you expected."
Kodya averted his gaze to stare up at the ceiling. "That's a loaded question."
"I know. I'm sorry."
Kodya's gaze flickered back to him. "It's true that the Gyrus I first met is very different from the you I know now, but that doesn't change how I feel about you," he reached for Gyrus's hand, and as their fingers intertwined a blue glow emitted from their palms, "you're still the person I fell in love with. If that wasn't true, I wouldn't be here right now."
The hand holding Gyrus' palm tightened, "This has been stressing you out for a long time, hasn't it?"
Gyrus bit his lip. "Kinda," he confessed.
Frowning, Kodya leaned down until their foreheads touched. "Gyrus, I love you, and you don't need to ever doubt that. Like you said, let's spend this night relaxing and taking our minds off."
With a shakey exhale, Gyrus silently nodded in agreement and closed his eyes. Instead of fixating on all the worries his mind, he tried to instead focus on the way Kodya soothingly rubbed his muscles in all the places he knew were tense. The brunet lowered his lips to suck on the skin along Gyrus' neck, slower and gentler this time, so that it wouldn't tickle him as much. If there were hickies now blooming all over him, then well, he wouldn't worry about it. That was merely a problem for future Gyrus.
Gyrus rolled on his side on the bed, leaving enough space so Kodya could lay down beside him. The brown haired man scooted over and scooped Gyrus into his arms, wrapping one around his upper back and letting the other rest under the back of Gyrus' head. Gyrus returned the gesture and wrapped his arms around Kodya, and as he pressed his face against the other man's bare chest, he took in one long shakey inhale.
Silence fell over them, the only sounds in the room now being their steady breaths, and Gyrus can't help but indulge himself by holding the other man tighter.
Being with Kodya like this made Gyrus feel like all the weight has lifted from his shoulders, even if only temporarily. For now, he'll let himself relish in the feelings of safety and security that came with being alongside his boyfriend, and let the quiet sounds of their heartbeats lull him to sleep.
For the first time in a while, Gyrus could sleep peacefully.
