4 Monkees and a Baby

Summary:

Just an excuse to see the Monkees interact with a baby

Chapter Text

Peter stared blankly at the newborn bundle before him. “Huh.”

“Who is it, Peter?” Davy called from inside their apartment.

“I don’t know, it doesn’t have a name.” There was no name tag to be seen.

“Well, why don’t you ask it, then?” Irritation started to sneak into the shorter Monkee’s voice.

“I can’t, it’s asleep.”

“It’s asleep?!” Davy walked up next to Peter at the door and his gaze instantly spotted the wicker basket resting on their doormat. His eyes widened when he finally noticed the baby inside it. “Oh.”

They silently watched the newborn baby sleep soundly in the pink blankets it was swaddled in.

“Well, let’s not just stand here,” Davy forcefully broke the silence. “Let’s see if there’s a note or something.”

Davy searched inside the basket, leaving Peter, not knowing what to do with himself, slowly examining the outside of it. The infant’s face scrunched up for a second when Davy had fidgeted too much with the blankets.

“Oh, my apologies, sweetheart,” Davy whispered and readjusted them. “Find anything, Peter?”

Peter shook his head. “No sign of a message.”

“Let’s take her inside, then.”

“But what about Mike and Micky? Don’t you think they’ll be mad you brought a baby into the house?”

“We’ll explain the situation when they get back,” Davy gently picked up the newborn and shifted it into the crook of his left arm. “And I’d rather not leave her alone out here. Now, come on.”

Begrudgingly, Peter follows Davy back into their apartment after first grabbing the wicker basket. A part of him though it would come in handy. What he didn’t notice was the blue envelope that fell out of it.
