Selen just finished to wrap up the last present that she had left, she still wasn't sure that the present was the best one but there were only a few hours left before the Niji EN Christmas Party starts and she didn't want to be late, still the feeling of it not being enough linger inside her. This was the first Christmas with all the EN members, most importantly, it’ll be her first Christmas with Finana.
She still couldn’t wrap her head around the idea that the mermaid and her were dating, at first she just saw her as a friend, but with each interaction they had, she felt more and more attracted to the lewd yet adorable person Finana is, until one they she had the courage to ask the mermaid out, after that everything was history. It was kind of hilarious how in front of their viewers she acted all calm and collected while talking or being with Finana, but when the streams ended, she was a hopeless romantic, she obviously will never admit that, and it seemed that Finana liked to have that special sight of Selen to herself only.
After thinking how their relationship changed from being friends to start dating, that feeling of the gift not being enough sinked even more on her, with a small sigh she gets out of her room and went downstairs to check on what the rest was doing on the house.
First she entered the main room where the tree was placed on a corner of the room, almost everyone had already place their present for everyone at the bottom of it, just waiting to be opened when the clock hit midnight in seven hours. The room was warm since the heater is turn on, she pulled her long sleeves a bit up since the warm was starting to get a bit suffocating for her. Some laughs echoed through the place, she drags herself to the kitchen, where Vox, Enna, Nina and Pomu were preparing the dinner while Elira, Rosemi, Reimu, Millie, Mysta and Shu were sitting on the table watching how the other four where preparing everything and also trying to keep Mysta away from the food, just to be precautious, he had already learned a thing or two about how to cook but still nobody trusts him enough to let him be near the stove.
Selen enter the room completely being noticed by everyone, she talked with them to try and calm her nerves, it worked for a bit, but after Shu asked if everyone had their presents ready for later all that nervousness came back and hit her like a truck. Elira noticed the change in Selen’s semblance, it wasn’t that noticeable but as her older sister she knew something was bothering the lunar sky dragon.
“Hey Selen, can I talk to you in private for a moment?” she whispered to her sister so nobody else picked interest on what they wanted to talk about.
“Sure?” she wasn’t sure about what Elira wanted to talk, she had an idea, but preferred to ignore it, there’s no way she could have figure out what was bothering her, right?
The two dragons excuse themselves and went to the main room where, at the moment, they could have a conversation without anyone hearing it.
“Ok so tell me, wat happened to the present?” she decided it was better to be direct with Selen, if she wasn’t Selen would probably try to act dumb about being bothered by something.
“What do you mean with that?” she said, forcing a laugh to come out so she could act like nothing was wrong “Nothing has happened to any present, have you hurt your head or something Elira?” That’s exactly what Elira expected Selen to do.
“Don’t lie to me, I know something’s bothering you, maybe the rest doesn’t notice it but I do” she said with a matter of factly tone of voice. “I’m your sister Selen, you can tell me everything” now she said that with a more soothing voice, she knew Selen is probably like this because of her present for Finana, she didn’t know why her sister was suddenly worried but wanted to help in whatever she could.
Selen played with her fingers for a bit before talking “What if she doesn’t like it?”
A silence fell between the two for a few seconds, after that Elira started laughing as if Selen told her the funniest shit ever.
Selen just frowned, this is why she didn’t want to say anything to anyone about her worries.
“Are you done or do you need more time to laugh at my suffering?” her usual bite was there when she said that, she knew Elira wasn’t laughing to hurt her but damn it bother her hearing her sister have the time of her life because of her distress in this case.
“Sorry, sorry, it’s just” she took a moment to regain the air she lost while cackling at her sister expenses “I thought it was something worst, like you know, the gift being lost or torn apart or burn or…”
“Why the heck would it be burned?” she asked laughing, while giving Elira a are you dumb? look “I mean, yes we are dragons but I’m not that stupid to burn a present just before Christmas” Elira was about to open her mouth to say something at that but Selen interrupt her “Don’t you even think about mentioning that time” Elira close her mouth but held a smug smile on her face that just made a little grin appear on Selen’s face.
“Ok fine, whatever, if it’s not all of that then, why do you care so much about her liking the present?” Elira knew what the gift was, she watched when Selen was making the design of it a moth and a half ago “I remember you were so hyped about it when you told me the idea, even a week ago when it finally arrived you still liked it, so why?” she was genuinely happy about the present so why the sudden change?
The somber expression came back and Selen just lowered her gaze “I was thinking about it and… I don’t know if it’s as special as I thought it was going to be” she paused for a moment “Maybe I need to get something else for her”.
Elira just give her a knowing look, when she was looking for a present for Pomu, she wasn’t really sure if the thing she ended up buying was going to be enough, but after some little thinking and spending time with her fairy, she came to the conclusion that it doesn’t matter what it is, is the feeling that holds what matters. “You know, if you want to go present hunting just five hours before the party starts and freak about not finding what you’re looking for fine, but I think it’ll be better if you give her what you already have”.
“What a way to tell me that I’m doomed, geez thank you big sis” she rolled her eyes and crossed her arms in front of her chest, this wasn’t helping her at all.
Elira just give her a fake innocent smile while shrugging and went back to the kitchen where some screams could be heard, something about Mysta almost burning some vegetables or something.
She let a sigh escape her mouth and went upstairs again, maybe talking with someone else can help her.
She pondered who to talk to, Rosemi was busy trying to help a bit in the kitchen and probably would tell the same Elira just told her, with less laugh and mockery of course. Millie, Enna and Reimu were amazing friends but if Elira laughed at her those three would probably have a trip if she tries to ask them for help, plus Enna was also helping with the dinner. Pomu, Nina and Vox were also cooking so that was an immediate no. Shu and Mysta… yeah completely no, she loved the guys but at some things they were as dense and dumb as a rock. Her only other options were Ike, Luca and Petra, well better than nothing she guess.
She knocks on Petra and Luca’s room door and when they open both get dragged to another room, after hearing the door being shut close they realize it’s Ike’s room where they’ve been thrown, he just looks at them with a blank and bored expression while sitting in front of his desk, finishing to wrap up one of his presents. The poor guy needs to deal with all the crazy stuff every one of them comes up with and this is no exception.
Selen clears her throat and the three of them look at her asking with their expressions, what in the world is going on?
“Um Selen do you need something? I was about to go down and place the last presents I have under the tree” Luca’s voice was gentle while asking, even if he was or is?, a mafia boss that doesn’t take away the fact that he cares about his friends, on the inside he’s just a softie.
“I need your help, I don’t know what to give to Finana” her desperation was starting to be palpable, she tries to compose a bit but the other three just look back at her knowing how she feels even if tries to hide it.
“Sorry Selen, but Luca and I still don’t know Finana that well, I don’t think we can help you” Ike’s calm voice sooth a bit the atmosphere of the room, Luca gave a little nod after what Ike said, both enjoy the conversations they had with the mermaid but they knew there was still a lot to unpack if they wanna say they completely know her.
Selen turn to Petra looking for help, the little penguin just let an exasperate sigh came out of her lips and rolled her eyes “I thought you already had a present for her?”
“I mean yeah but…” she got interrupted.
“The why are you asking us to help you?” Her question didn’t hold any anger in it, a little bit of annoyance since she wanted to go downstairs and cuddle a bit with her ghostly girlfriend, but she wasn’t mad at Selen, she knows that the dragon held how she feels a lot of times to not bother others or be looked like weak. “Please don’t tell me you’re doubting your choice of present”.
The deadpan look she received from Selen after saying that confirmed it, she doesn’t need to hear it, just with that look that tries to hide how embarrassed she feels about the situation let’s her know that she was right about her guess.
“I know I just said that we don’t know Finana as well as you do” the comment of Ike caught her attention “But what we know from the little time we’ve spent here, is that she loves you so much, that probably you can give her one of your oldest shirts and she’ll say thank you for that”.
It sounded a bit hilarious with how he said it, the other three giggle a bit while probably imagining the scenario, but the point was given across.
“You know, if you still have some doubts, maybe you can give her one of those weird toys she likes” Luca intend to said that with the best intentions, but the mere idea of Selen giving something like that to Finana and most probably use it after the party ends made the other three blush really hard, Selen almost looked like a tomato at this point.
“I- I don’t know why I thought asking you for help was a good idea” after saying that she stormed out of the room and went back to hers, Luca just had a confused look on his face, did he said something wrong? At that the other two just laugh at what happened, watching the dragon that flustered and the poor mafia boss so confused was something you don’t see all the time, at least not at the same time.
The hours went by and all the presents were placed under the tree in the main room, or at least almost all the presents were there.
The rest of the evening all of them spent the time together, telling stories about before debut, remembering things that happened when they weren’t streaming, making fun of the times were certain couples were caught in some… special moments by accident, it was almost ironic that the lewd feesh was the least caught in that situations with her girlfriend, but the so called seiso solar sky dragon and the fairy were the ones that usually got caught, if they did that a lot or just had bad timing, that nobody knows.
The time for dinner finally arrived, everyone took a sit on the table, laughter filled the place, and the warm that surrounds everyone felt more related to how happy all of them are instead of the heater that prevents all of them from getting cold. Selen looks how Finana was laughing with everyone at the memory of Mysta not knowing how to prepare fried rice and how Vox scold him for not doing it properly.
Her laugh is one of the many things Selen really loves of Finana, the way her eyes close while one of the most beautiful sounds scape her lips. That is another thing she really loves, the mermaid lips were soft and sweet, yet she is able to be tough with them, the way she kisses her gentle still firm, it completely drives her crazy, she also loves the small kisses she left on her shoulder and neck when they are cuddling together, there’s no other intentions behind those kisses they’re just to show how much she loves the dragon and Selen knows it. But the thing she loves the most of Finana is how she can understand her, how she can let her guard down with her without any fear of getting hurt or being made fun of, of course she trusts her sister and friends to show this weaker side of her, but Finana has this special way of approaching her when she’s in that state, the way she soothes her mind and feelings, how she can feel so protected with one hug and how loved and understand she feels with a single kiss of her.
That’s why she wants her gift on her first Christmas together to be special, more than special even, she wants to show Finana how much she loves her with that gift.
After the dinner there are just a few minutes left before midnight strikes, everyone is just so hype about what the others have prepare for every and each of them. Selen excuse herself and goes to her room to grab the last present that wasn’t with the others, she looks at the wrapping paper and ponders if she can improvise something last minute, a knock on the door startles her, she turns to look at the door and hides the present behind her back.
“Come in” her voice quivers a bit, she curses to herself for that.
The door opens and Reimu enters the room without closing the door, they can hear how the rest of the EN members keep talking about how happy they are and how little time is left for midnight, the idea of improvising a gift floats away of Selen’s mind.
“Hey I heard you’re having a problem with your gift for Finana” the ghost says without missing a bit. Selen blows away a strand of her that was falling in front of her.
“Let me guess, Petra?” she’s not surprised if the penguin told her about her issue, those two were glued to each other and, of course, tell each other everything.
“Of course it was Petra, who else would it be?” she let a small giggle scape “Probably you already heard this enough times, but I really think you should give her what you’re hiding behind you, Elira told me a bit of what you planned and honestly it sounds like something Finana would really like”
“Wait, when did she told you that?” oh Selen is definitely going to kill Elira after the party ends, she mentally begs that Pomu forgives her after she finish killing Elira.
At this point she can bet that everyone knows that she’s desperate about the situation, she just hopes they don’t tell Finana.
“Oh she told me last month after you send the design, she didn’t tell me what you draw but explain what your idea was, apparently you were so hyped about it that you ended up driving her a bit crazy and she needed to vent with someone” the way she said it sounded like she was talking about how cold the weather was today. Yeah she was going to kill Elira without remorse.
“Do you at least have any Spanish or Japanese sentence that I can learn…” she made a pause and count mentally how many minutes left she had before midnight “In five minutes?”
“Nothing that comes to mind” the other girl said while she shrugged. “Good luck with that” she points at the dragon hands that were still hiding behind her back “You’ll need it” she finished that sentence with a small but noticeable smug grin.
Man, was everyone really enjoying her suffering today?
She went downstairs and hide the present behind the sofa. After that she approached the rest of the members while hugging Finana from the back, she felt the mermaid body melt in her arms and press herself a bit closer to her, she places her head in the space in between the mermaid shoulder and neck, Finana’s body shiver when she felt the dragon breath in her neck, a hand pressed against the big dragon hand Selen has.
“Is everything ok?” she asked silently, it was something just between them, a little secrecy they always have when moments like this happens and that melts each other hearts.
Selen looks up and catches the mermaid’s gaze on her, with a small yet loving smile she nudges slightly Finana’s nose with her own “Yes, everything is perfect” her grip on the contrary waist tightens a bit, making them closer if that’s even possible.
“Hey you two, can you please at least wait after the gift exchange to do that” Pomu was sitting in between Elira’s legs, laughing at what she just said.
“Oh shut up, you were eating Elira just a few minutes ago under the excuse of the mistletoe” the feesh answered with mockery in her voice, Pomu stop laughing and now her and Elira were entirely flushed.
The last couple of minutes passed by and suddenly they were doing the countdown for midnight, when the clock finally marked the so awaited moment, all of them screamed and hug each other, Selen’s hug to Elira was especially tight, the other dragon didn’t really know if that was something good or bad, she opted for the latter option.
After almost all the gifts were given just a few more were left, between those there was Selen’s present for Finana, who at this moment was giving her own present to Selen. When she opened it a scarf with white and teal colors appeared in front of her, it was a bit long but it was perfect for her long neck, she places it a bit loose in her neck feeling the warm of it filling her, at this point she wasn’t sure if the red in her face was because of the warm of the scarf or if it was because her heart was pounding so hard against her chest.
“Thank you Finana I really like it a lot” it was something simple, but the way the mermaid gave it to her, smiling widely and full of love was enough for her, besides with this cold this was really handy for her.
“I’m glad you like it” her smile grew even wider if it was possible, her eyes showing how much she wants to know what Selen haves for her.
With nerves filling her body, she approached the sofa were she hid the present, Finana looks at her raising a brow, asking why her gift was there.
“Please don’t ask just- just open it” she gave the gift to Finana even more blushed than she was before. While Finana was opening the gift she felt some eyes behind her, she is sure that all of them are paying attention to what is going to be Finana’s reaction, they were not subtle at all the entire room went quiet when she gave the gift to the mermaid.
To her everything was in slow motion, when Finana finally had the present in her hands Selen started to panic, the mermaid was looking every detail of it with an expression she couldn’t explain, did she like it or did she hate it?
“It’s ok if you don’t like it, I can search another gift for you tomorrow” she started spitting whatever that comes to her mind to apologize for the gift, she knew it, the present was really simple and kind of dumb now that she thinks about it, how is it possible that when Finana gives something so simple it’s still so amazing, but when she tries to do something like that it ends up being-
“Selen!” she hears a scream calling her name, she doesn’t register who from all of them was the one that screamed, she also doesn’t register when Finana just decides to kiss her and stop her now incomprehensible mumbling.
The mermaid places her arms around Selen’s neck that is still covered by the scarf she gave her, when her brain finally process what’s going on she kisses Finana back closing her eyes, her dragon hand placed on the mermaid waist while her right and normal hand cups her face trying to be closer to her, she uses her height in advantage as she always does, towering herself over Finana, she’s not pushing to much in the kiss, it’s not necessary, just the way she moves her lips over the mermaid’s slowly but firmly conveys what she feels, just like her little feesh is doing right now.
When they finally part from their kiss she looks at Finana with adoring eyes, while Finana stares back at her with the sweetest smile she ever had.
“I really love it Selen, thank you”
A not so subtle cough catches their attention, they now remember that the rest of the members are there and watched everything that happened, Finana only smiles at them like nothing happened with just a bit of red on her cheeks, Selen tries to hide her blush with her left hand while her right hand goes down to the mermaid’s waist and pulls her closer to her body.
“Ok since you two finally end up the make out session, can we know what had the dumb dragon so worried?” Pomu asks, Selen just stares at her with murderous intentions after calling her dumb, the fairy is not bothered by that at all.
Finana shows the sweater to them, it’s the same color as the one Selen uses usually, the purple patterns at the bottom of it are the same, but in the center of it there’s an image of small polar bear with a smug face and besides it the face of Finana in a chibi form was smiling with a little heart in the middle of the two, the image was really cute to see.
Elira was not surprise by it, she was there when Selen made the drawing and send it to the place that made customized sweaters and shirts a month and a half ago, the rest of them were in awe with how cute the present was, they were also trying to contain the laugh it wanted to escape from them, what in the world made Selen think that Finana wouldn’t like it?
“I mean, I need to admit it’s a bit too romantic coming from you but it’s actually really cute” Rosemi said smiling, watching Selen like that was a sight to behold, she is happy for her friend but she couldn’t lie, the situation was really funny.
After a few comments on how dumb Selen was for thinking that the mermaid wouldn’t like the present the rest of the night passed smoothly. It was two in the morning when they finally decided to go to sleep, Selen and Finana enters in the dragon’s room, they usually sleep in there since the mermaid really liked how the smell of Selen’s essence lulled her to sleep while hugging the dragon, Selen obviously wasn’t against the idea, having the little feesh beside her in her room was one of the best thing in the world.
Both change their clothes to finally go to sleep but what Selen didn’t expect was for Finana to use her gift this night as her pajamas, the sweater is a bit big for her, but she intended it to be that way, she loves how Finana plays with the oversize sleeves of her sweater and how small she looks in it, so watching her using that and noticing that the end of it was just a bit over Finana’s knees, making her wonder if the mermaid had the shorts she usually use to sleep, made her heart skip a beat.
Damn that little feesh and how cute she is.
“You’re staring too much” a smile was plastered on the mermaid’s face while saying that, Selen just looks her in the eyes without hiding how she was blushing.
“Can you blame me?” was all she said.
Without missing a beat both of them got under the covers escaping the cold of the night getting as close as possible to each other, nothing happened that night, they just hugged each other and Selen played lazily with Finana’s hair while the other just gave little kisses through the dragon’s neck until they fall asleep.
