Work Text:

Felix stands near the gate of his flight. It was supposed to leave hours ago. He was getting worried. Christmas was in just two days, and he promised his parents that he would come home for the holidays. Felix sighs and opens his phone. No notifications from anyone. A little bit of sadness pangs in his chest.

A flight attendant appears. Hope.

"Please pardon the announcement," she speaks into the microphone. "Flight 1117 to Sydney, Australia has been cancelled due to weather conditions both there and here. You can retrieve your bags at the baggage claim. Our apologies."

Felix doesn't say a word. He stands up and grabs his carry on. He slowly begins making his way to baggage claim. He'll have to tell his family the bad news. Who knows how long he'll be stuck here? Where can he go? Chan and Changbin had already gone back to their families; he didn't want to intrude on them.

The Australian sits at baggage claim, quietly, waiting for his suitcase.

Bing.

A notification.

Jeonginnie:

Hi hyung. Have you

boarded yet?

Felix stares down sadly at his phone. He texts a response back to his roommate.

Me:

No

The flight was

cancelled ;-;

Jeonginnie:

Oh hyung 🥺

I'm coming to

pick you up

Me:

What?!

Oh Innie you

don't need to!

Jeonginnie:

Already heading

to the car :3

Felix turns off his phone and puts it down. There was no talking Jeongin out of it. Once he puts his mind to something he will complete his task.

"Felix-hyung!" Jeongin runs up to Felix, zipping up his coat and giving him a large grin. Felix gives him a weak smile.

"Hi, Innie," he greets quietly. Jeongin takes Felix's suitcase from him, motioning with a nod for the older to follow him. Felix does so. He stays quiet the entire time.

Jeongin looks back to him, eyes wide. "Hyung. Are you okay?" Felix nods. It was a lie. Jeongin gives him a side eye as he puts Felix's suitcase in the trunk of his car. The two college students get in. Jeongin passes him the AUX cord.

"Here, play whatever you want," he tells him. Felix is confused. Jeongin's saying is always driver picks music, passenger shuts their cakehole.

Felix graciously takes it and plugs in his phone. The two listens as Felix's playlist plays softly in the car. Jeongin starts singing along to the song that was playing. Felix joins in.

The snow falls quietly onto the windshields. Felix at that moment feels like all of his problems are disappearing. The only moment right now was Jeongin and him, having a peaceful drive back to somewhere, anywhere. Just the two of them.

"Jeongin..."

"Yeah?"

Felix hesitates for a moment. "Aren't you spending Christmas with anyone?" he asks. Jeongin is quiet. He continues looking forward, concentrating on the road ahead of him.

"Uhh... no. Actually," he chuckles. "Let's just say my parents aren't exactly happy with me at the moment." Felix doesn't pry any longer. He can tell by the look on Jeongin's face that he didn't want to say anymore.

"Innie, when we get home. I'll make cookies. We can spend the night watching movies—whatever ones you want," Felix offers.

Jeongin's eyes lighten up. He nods, a small smile pulling at the ends of his mouth.

"I like that idea."

Jeongin sat on the couch. He had gotten dressed into his pajamas per Felix's instructions. All the plushies and pillows Felix owned were littered around the floor with soft blankets, ready to watch a movie.

"Ah! They're done!" Felix calls from the kitchen. Jeongin looks up eagerly. He smiles widely, his dimples appearing like the sun.

Felix makes his way over to the living room with a large plate of warm cookies. He sits the plate down in front of Jeongin and sits down next to him.

His roommate pulls a blanket from the side and wraps it around himself and Jeongin. He reaches for the remote and turns on the TV.

"So, Innie, what will it be?" he asks his roommate. Jeongin thinks for a moment.

"The Cat Returns please," he responds. Felix nods his head and begins searching. Jeongin is about to reach out for a cookie when his phone notification turns on. He looks down, his eyes widened. He hesitates for a moment to grab his phone.

Felix stops scrolling and looks at him. "Jeongin, is something wrong?"

Jeongin swallows hard. He picks up his phone and reads the text.

"I-It's from my mother..." he says slowly. "She says that... she says not to expect to be invited to anything for a while now..." Jeongin narrows his eyes at the phone. He swiftly turns it off and puts it far away from him.

He lies down on Felix's lap and begins to cry.

"Goddamn it, I knew coming out to them wasn't the best idea, but I never thought it would end like this!" he cries. Felix reaches out a hand and strokes Jeongin's back softly. He pulls the boy up and hugs him tightly.

"I'm here for you, Jeongin. I'm here." Jeongin cries into Felix's shoulder and grabs onto the sleeves of his pajamas.

"Jeongin. You don't have to spend Christmas with your family," Felix begins. Jeongin looks up at him with teary eyes. Felix ruffled his hair.

"Christmas is a time to be with people who love you for you. Not some pompous assholes!" Jeongin giggled.

"So true king," the boy responds, drying away his tears. "I don't need my mom or dad!"

"Yeah!"

"I have you!"

"Yeah!"

"And our friends!"

"Yeah! That's the spirit Innie!" Felix cheers. Jeongin nods. He grabs a cookie and takes a large bite out of it.

"I have you and these cookies!" Felix nods his head and hugs Jeongin tightly, almost falling over onto his side. They both fall into fits of laughter, holding onto each other like two little koalas.

Jeongin reaches out and gives Felix one of his cookies. "Merry Christmas, hyung."

Felix takes it and smiles at his friend. "Merry Christmas, Jeongin."
