His father is a traitor, a betrayer and a weak and foolish man who refuses to do the right thing. And at that moment as Ames stares into the fire listening to his father making his plans to escape, he decides that he will do everything that he can to fight against his father. He will do everything possible to make his mother’s sacrifice a noble act instead of a farce that his father has made it in this moment of weakness. He stops listening to his father’s urgent and whispered words and he glares at his younger, weaker brother.
