Love Doesn't Always Work Out

Summary:

Sonic loves Shadow, but does Shadow love him?

Notes:

I'm sorry this is sad. It wasn't supposed to be.

Work Text:

Sonic stood near the punch bowl, staring at the front door. He had no clue why he had even invited Shadow. He knew he wouldn't show. Large groups of people just weren't his "thing," and this was just "another party."

He moved away from the punch bowl, giving hope on him showing up. Maybe he should get some fresh air. Yeah, that might help. He went through the sliding door to the backyard. "Why did I invite him? I knew he wouldn't show up. Maybe it's a sign. A sign that I shouldn't have feelings for him. Maybe I should move on. He doesn't even know how I feel, so it's not like it'll change anything."

He sat down on the grass. "Why do I even have feelings for him? There's no reason for me too." He heard a noise and jumped up. "Who's there?"

He saw a pair of crimson eyes watch him from the tree line. "Shadow?" He got closer. "Shadow, what are you doing here?"

Shadow slowly moved out of the forest. "I felt bad for always turning down your invitations, but I heard you talk about someone, so I didn't want to disturb you."

Sonic sighed. "I was just thinking about the person that I have feelings for."

Shadow patted his shoulder. "I'm sure whoever it is, that they'll feel the same."

Sonic made a grunt. "I doubt that."

Shadow hugged him. "Tell them."

Sonic sighed and held Shadow's hands. "Shadow, I have feelings for you."

Shadow frowned. "Sonic, I don't feel that way."

Sonic felt his heartbreak.
