Chapter Text
“Did you hear? The freak captured Tomura fucking Shgaraki!!”
Sacchi stared blankly at the wall. Inside his pockets his hands were shaking.
“What’s up, freak?” a cheerful voice said. Sacchi turned around to see Mt. Lady grinning at him. “Brilliant day in the field, huh?”
“Sure,” Sacchi said, voice just barely audible.
“You’re not proud of yourself?” Rocklock asked, coming up behind Mt. Lady.
“Didn’t you hear?” she smirked before Sacchi could say anything. “They have history.”
“Of course I heard,” Rocklock frowned. “Pendulum’s my sidekick, he told me himself.”
“How the fuck do you trust him then? The freak’s probably in love with the bastard!”
Sacchi looked back at the wall to let the two discuss him as if he wasn’t there. His eyes glazed over as he fiddled with the insides of his pockets. There was an old candy wrapper in his left one. He made a mental note to throw it away before he got in trouble for it.
“Pendulum,” Rocklock said, placing a hand on his shoulder. Sacchi snapped back to reality.
“Yes sir?”
“She doesn’t mean what she says, you know. She’s just frightened like the rest of us.”
Sacchi glanced around to see that Mt. Lady had left him and Rocklock alone. He smiled weakly.
“I know,” he nodded. “I don’t mind, really.”
“Good,” Rocklock said. “Let’s get some drinks to celebrate that bastard’s execution tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow?” Sacchi asked vaguely. There was no emotion behind his voice, but his insides were churning. He’d come so close. So so close. He couldn’t lose Tomura now.
“Didn’t you hear?” Rocklock asked, slightly concerned. “They moved it up to tomorrow morning right after you put in your request to have a low grade interrogation. Has no one gotten back to you on that?”
“No,” Sacchi said, shaking his head and exhaling as calmly as he could. “But it doesn’t matter. I wasn’t going to ask anything of importance anyway.”
“Ah,” Rocklock nodded. “Well, maybe someone will approve your request for tonight.”
“Maybe,” Sacchi said.
Right on cue, and just as the two started walking down the hall together, a man in a dark suit and glasses appeared from atop a flight of stars and glanced around, nodding when he saw Sacchi.
“Pendulum?” he said.
“Yes?”
“Your request to talk to Tomura Shigaraki has been approved. You’ll be transported to the holding cell right now and you’ll have five minutes of monitored conversation with him. Does that meet your needs?”
“It does,” Sacchi said. “I’ll see you later for drinks then, I suppose.” Rocklock grinned.
“That you will,” he said. “I’ll be available all night.”
The ride in the police car to the maximum security holding cell was disturbingly quiet. Sacchi did everything in his power to not fidget, but by the time he was stepping out of the car onto military grounds, his nails had been picked to bits.
“This way sir,” the man in dark glasses said, leading the way through gate after gate, then hall after winding hall, down stairs and through more halls.
Finally, after what felt like years (but in reality was only 8 minutes) Sacchi was being let into a small room with a metal chair in the middle of it. The man in dark glasses was saying something about security cameras and microphones but Sacchi couldn’t hear any of it. Because there, sitting on the chair, looking like he’d kill a man, was Tomura Shigaraki. His hands were bound in (most likely) quirk-canceling cuffs, and his thighs were strapped to the chair seat.
“You have five minutes,” the man in dark glasses said. “Please be careful.”
And with that the door was closed and the two were alone.
“Hello,” Sacchi said after a moment of catching his breath. Tomura didn’t say anything but instead opted to glare at Sacchi with the heat of a sun. Sacchi almost smiled, it was just so him.
“Do you know who I am?” he asked. He almost crossed his fingers.
“Some shitty hero that decided murder is ethical when it caters to your desires,” Tomura spat. Sacchi’s hope deflated a little. He shook himself a little and snapped his fingers.
Everything around him became a little duller, a little grayer. The clock on the wall almost imperceptibly stopped ticking, and the lights on the cameras stopped blinking. Tomura was frozen with an angry expression, one piece of hair falling over his eyes.
Sacchi snapped one more time and suddenly Tomura was no longer frozen, but grimacing as the hair fell into his left eye. Suddenly, after taking a brief moment to paw at his face, Tomura blinked harshly and looked up at Sacchi, confused.
“Why do I feel like this?” he asked.
“Like what?” Sacchi said, knowing exactly what he was talking about. The light, floaty feeling with a sense of calm was a byproduct of his time quirk.
Tomura stared at him carefully, then scanned the room. His eyes landed on the security camera in the corner that was no longer blinking and permanently stuck on red.
“No,” he said, his face falling. “You’re…you can’t be…Sacchi?” If Sacchi didn’t know better, he would think he saw the beginnings of tears in Tomura’s eyes.
“Hi Tomura,” Sacchi said, gauging Tomura’s reaction carefully. Tomura stared at him with clear pain in his face.
“Sacchi?” he mumbled again. “But…you- no-”
Sacchi pulled a hairpin and a lockpick out of an inside chest pocket and stepped closer to Tomura.
“I have to pick the locks on your cuffs,” he said. “Just give me a couple minutes.”
Tomura stared at him dully as Sacchi knelt next to the chair and started picking the locks on Tomura’s quirk-canceling cuffs. It was silent for a moment except for the metal scraping of the pick in the lock.
After only thirty seconds Tomura’s cuffs clattered to the floor, and before Sacchi could even look up there was a hand on his neck. The grip was so heartbreakingly gentle, even as all five of Tomura’s fingers wrapped around his throat. Sacchi looked up and smiled with tears in his eyes.
“It’s really you,” Tomura said after a moment of shocked silence.
“Did you really think I would’ve let you die?” Sacchi said, choked up. He looked down and started picking the locks on Tomura’s thigh.
“I thought…” Tomura started.
“It’s a long story,” Sacchi interrupted.
“I would think so,” Tomura said as the cuff on his right thigh broke open. “It’s been eleven years.”
“Felt longer,” Sacchi mumbled.
“Felt like forever,” Tomura nodded. A moment of silence overtook the two before Sacchi finished picking the lock on his left thigh and Tomura stood up gingerly. The two looked each other in the eyes for a long moment before Sacchi cleared his throat.
“We have to go,” he said. “I can’t freeze time forever.”
And just like that, the two flashed a smile at each other, slammed open the door, and fled through the halls at breakneck speed.
“How did the pros not account for your time freeze quirk?” Tomura asked, laughing, as they swung violently around a banister.
“Hid it,” Sacchi grinned, knocking over a frozen person in glee as he rushed out of the first gate.
“For eleven years??” Tomura said, shocked.
“Mhm,” Sacchi said. The two made it past the second gate. “This is the last gate up ahead.”
As they made it out of the last gate, Sacchi snapped once and got into the police car that had escorted him to the facility. Tomura crashed into shotgun as Sacchi floored it and the car went careening down the street and swerving around cars.
Sacchi laughed wildly.
“Do you know how long I’ve been waiting for this?” he asked, keeping his eyes on the road. When Tomura didn’t answer he glanced over his shoulder.
Tomura was staring at him with watery eyes. When he saw Sacchi staring he scrubbed at his eyes and grunted.
“I’ve just…I’ve missed you,” he said softly. Sacchi looked back at the road, smiling a lot less wildly and a little more gently.
“Make me your second in command,” he said.
“Well that goes without saying,” Tomura snickered despite himself. “I’ve been saving the spot.”
“Tomura,” Sacchi said.
“Sacchi.”
“Where should I drive to?”
“There’s a hideout not far from here,” Tomura said. “Just a little further down this road and then to the left.”
“We should leave the car now then.”
The two jogged the rest of the way to the hideout. Tomura showed him how to unlock the secret door in the back of a decrepit building, and they walked down two or three flights of old moldy stairs before coming down into a softly lit, devoid-of-people, common area with a bar and multiple couches.
“Should you unfreeze time now?” Tomura asked.
“No,” Sacchi shook his head. “It’s been years since I used it like this. I’ve got a few more minutes in me.”
“Just you and me?”
Sacchi smiled shyly. Suddenly everything seemed a lot hotter and there were butterflies in his stomach.
“I missed you too, by the way,” he said. The two stared at each other, blushing, for a moment before they both stepped forward at the same time. Hands intertwined, chests bumped, eyes closed, lips found another pair of lips.
They stayed like that, kissing softly and unhurried for nearly ten minutes before Sacchi’s quirk began to wear off and sirens could be heard faintly in the distance.
Sacchi pulled away and rested his head in the crook of Tomura’s neck as Tomura’s hands came up to rest on the small of his back and tangled in his hair.
“Love you,” Sacchi murmured.
“Love you too,” Tomura smiled.
Just then a door leading to a hallway burst open and a small blonde girl stood in the doorway.
Tomura and Sacchi stared at her for a moment before she started screaming and jumping around.
“Toga,” a raspy voice said, clearly annoyed. “Shut the fuck up.”
“DABI,” she shrieked. “COME LOOK, COME LOOK!”
Sacchi shrank into Tomura’s arms as half a dozen people rushed to stare over Toga’s shoulder at him.
“What the FUCK?”
