Kei Tsukishima gave a sigh of a relief.
Taking a step back he glanced at the tall Christmas tree that stood in front of him and he couldn’t help but to smirk. Everything seemed to be in the right place and he couldn’t help but to feel the need to brag a little.
Alas, he knew that he would not have the chance to do so for at least another hour.
This was his first Christmas in his new apartment and as out of character as this would sound he really wanted everything to be perfect, and it made him nervous. For a moment he felt a little empathy towards his mother who had been the master of Christmas and took a mental note to thank her for everything she had done for him and Aki once they would meet again in the coming days…
Kei looked at his tree and inspected each and every little ornament. With the exception of a random box of shiny ball ornaments that had been given to him by Aki every other ornament had its little significance. From the photo frames of his family to little black birds with white numbers on their wings – a present from Yachi who had designed each and every little bird to look like the Karasuno team from their first year of high school – to many red and black ornaments and ribbons. There was also a frog, a few blue and yellow ornaments drawn as volley balls, random souvenir ornaments from his trips to Brazil and a few cities in Japan… it was a very volleyball-centric tree but it was the best tree out there.
As he sat down and got under his favorite dark navy blanket Kei couldn’t help but to feel thankful for everything. He loved volleyball with all of his heart, had friends who now lived all over the globe doing the things they wanted and loved, his family was healthy and happy and most of all he was now living with the one person he cherished the most of all…
How could he be so lucky?

Tetsurou Kuroo unlocked the front door and entered the small apartment quietly. He understood how late it was and felt bad for having left his boyfriend all alone to decorate the Christmas tree.
He gently placed his keys on the countertop and removed his long jacket before walking towards the bedroom, thinking the love of his life would probably be in bed already, but when he got there he noticed the bed was still made and no one was in it.
“Kei?” he asked as he walked back towards the kitchen area.
He undid his tie and left it hanging around his neck as he entered the living room and saw the yall blonde sitting into a ball on the couch, dreaming away Christmas Eve, beautiful as ever. Looking around him Kuroo noticed all the decorations Kei had gotten ready for their first Christmas together and he couldn’t help but to smile softly. He knew he was a lucky guy for having Kei in his life after everything and he just knew that this Christmas was the start of their new adventure together and the beginnings of a very beautiful tradition…
Kuroo gently got down in front of the couch right beside Kei. He brought his hand to Kei's forehand and softly removed the hair from his face before placing a gentle kiss on Kei’s forehead.
It was then that Kei squirmed a little bit and a whisper was heard.
“I love you, Tetsurou.”
Truly, this was the beginning of a very beautiful future together.
