Work Text:
The snow fell heavily, whipping harshly through the cold winter evening. Jean strode through the drifts of snow, hurrying as quickly as she could in the current conditions. The snow stung against her cheeks, turning them a shade of red that Lisa would have found adorable. Only her skillful footwork kept her from slipping upon the icy sheets that lay hidden beneath the snow.
Jean was late getting away from work, a situation that was much more common than not. She had the day off for Yule tomorrow, and had been busy trying to get as much done as she could before the holiday. Jean had not to meant to work late, but she tended to lose track of time quite easily when she was buried within her paperwork. Lisa had been expecting her a little over an hour ago. Klee was spending the night with Albedo; so, the pair had been looking forward to spending the holiday evening together. Lisa had closed the library and went home early. “I want to prepare something special for our evening later,” was the reason the secretive librarian had given Jean. The message being accompanied by painfully short kiss by both their standards. “There will be more of that later, I have to make sure you come home to me.” The mage’s green eyes had sparkled brilliantly with the comment.
Thankfully, it was not long before Jean saw the familiar sight of Lisa’s home. Candles lined the windowsills; while a large wreath decked in purple hung on the door. She pulled the brass key from her pocket and slid it into the lock; with a sharp ‘click’, the door unlocked and Jean stepped into the house. She pulled off her coat and scarf, hanging them upon the rack by the door, followed shortly by her boots. The silence puzzled her, all she could hear was the meticulous ticking of the large, grandfather clock. She had expected Lisa to be waiting, most likely slightly agitated by Jean’s late arrival.
It did not take long for Jean to find the answer. Lisa was asleep on the sofa; her arm curled up on the armrest, with her head resting on it. She was wearing a dark purple skirt and black blouse. Jean quickly picking up that Lisa had fallen asleep while waiting for her. The mage’s favorite teapot along with two matching cups sat on the table before her. The sight pulled at Jean’s heart. She always hated when she came home later than she was supposed to; but seeing that the woman she loved had fallen asleep waiting for her hurt.
“I’ll be back shortly, I promise.” Jean whispered to the sleeping librarian, before continuing towards the bedroom. She slipped inside and began to change quietly, trading her uniform top for a large sweater. Her hair ribbon was also removed, letting her golden tresses flow freely after a full day of being up. After washing her face, Jean made her way back out towards the den. She gently lifted Lisa’s head from the armrest and sat down softly on the edge of the couch, lowering the woman’s head onto her lap. Jean kissed the tousled brown hair of the mage, before settling back into the sofa and slowly stroking Lisa’s back.
The scene was relaxing. Jean could hear Lisa’s soft, steady breathing and felt it through her hand, as she watched the snow continue to fall outside the window. The slender flames of the candles danced before the glass, while the large fire crackled on the hearth. After a long week leading up to the holiday, there wasn’t much more that Jean could have wished for. Her free hand moved to the mage’s hair, idly running her fingers through it. Her attention being drawn to the occasional strand of gray hair.
“And she complains that I stress too much.”
It had not quite been a half-hour when she felt her girlfriend begin to stir. “Jean?” The mage’s soft voice inquired wearily.
“It’s me, Lisa. I’m sorry I came in so late. I lost track of time.” The mage only nodded, before rolling over and burying her face into Jean’s stomach; Lisa’s arm wrapping itself around her waist and puling the two closer together.
“I know, Dear,” came the librarian’s murmur. “I’m just glad you’re here now.” Jean felt her cheeks flushing at the intimate contact and sentiment. “I had some things planned for the evening.” The mage continued. “But can we stay like this for a little longer?”
“Of course, Lisa, whatever you would like to do. I’m happy here.”
After a couple more minutes, Jean felt Lisa slowly lifting herself up. The darker-haired woman sat up, rubbing her eyes and yawning softly before turning to Jean. The gleam in the mage’s sharp, green eyes caused a lump to form in Jean’s throat. She still had a hard time believing that someone this stunning had fallen for her. Lisa’s right hand found her chin, before softly running up her cheek and back behind Jean’s ear. Lisa slid one leg over Jean’s lap, moving herself over to straddle her lover. The mage’s left hand tapped against her own chin, the action drawing Jean’s gaze to the woman’s lips.
“You know, I believe I promised you something earlier today, didn’t I?” Jean saw that Lisa had applied a bright, red lipstick earlier; Her eyes watched the ruby lips curve delicately around each word that exited the mage’s mouth. “But for the life of me, I can’t remember what that was…” Jean was unable to hold back any longer against the older woman’s teasing. With her arm wrapped up behind the mage, hand on the back of her head, she pulled Lisa down to meet her.
The pair’s lips crashed together, both women diving into the other’s affection. Jean could feel her mind going blank. The only things she could feel was the librarian’s lips dancing with her own and long fingers entwining themselves into her hair. Her own hand grasped at the base of Lisa’s head, not wanting the blissful embrace end. Eventually the pair separated, letting out a couple ragged breaths as they gathered their wits about them. Lisa leaned in once again, but skirted Jean when the she rose to meet her. Before she could realize, the mage’s soft lips were running along Jean’s neck and up to her ear, biting softly upon the lobe before whispering.
“Happy Yuletide, my darling knight.” The soft breath that brushed along Jean’s broke down the last of her defenses; an unrestrained moan slipping out of the knight’s lips as her head tilted backwards. Lisa quickly using Jean’s vulnerability to her advantage. She twisted the pair sideways and pushed Jean down across the sofa, following alongside; her face still buried into Jean’s neck. Lisa coated all that she could reach with a series of nibbles and bites, kisses and soft caresses. Jean moaning and squirming from the mage’s aggressive affection. As Lisa’s lips slowly began to push against Jean’s neckline, a loud grumble from Lisa’s stomach made both stop in their tracks. Green eyes met blue, and both fell into fits of giggling, unable to stop themselves. It was Jean who was able to catch her breath first.
“Lisa, I know I’m going to sound like an idiot, but I think we should eat before we continue this further. We both know that neither of us will feel like doing anything later if we carry on from here.” Her comment was received by the mage’s intoxicating pouting face; but before she could continue, Lisa answered.
“Fine, but only if you give me something to last me until then.” The green eyes winked teasingly. Jean nodded, lifting both her and Lisa off of the couch. Their lips met for a second time. The kiss was softer this time, leaving Jean to marvel at the familiar taste of the woman’s lips. Jean was the first to pull away, her lips forming a cheeky smile. She leaned forward, whispering into Lisa’s ear.
“There will be more of that later, I have to make sure you come to bed with me.”
“Using my own words against me, my dear, how cruel.” Lisa replied, snaking her arm around her lover’s waist. “Let’s hurry up and eat, I’m hungry in more ways than one.” Jean felt her cheeks burn at the comment, which was not missed by the clever mage. The sound of Lisa’s laugh rang through the warm house, as she pulled Jean into kitchen.
