Determination

Summary:

Grown-up Rudy trying to take on Dale for grown-up Latina's hand. Set in when they have grown up.

Notes:

Yes this is me unable to accept the ending of the light novel. I ship her with Rudy I don't care. For me these two are cuter than some weird incest, I mean I know he technically isn't her dad but it is still weird ya know. Anyway, this is for Rudy/Latina shippers only.

Work Text:

"Dammit,"

Once again he failed. Failed to go past the one challenge he trained himself for years for. The one obstacle that no matter how hard he trained, it doesn't seem penetrable at all. In fact, why the heck does it gets tougher each time he tried to go over?

Rudy sighed while glancing at his hand, calluses all over his palm as prove of his resolution and hard-work. His perseverance throughout all these years never seemed to weaken, but sometimes he does need a breather and encouragement. He gripped his fist tight, biting his lips after recalling his failure earlier.

Failing to defeat a certain adventurer.

Why must he defeat the adventurer? Well, of course. For the hand of his childhood crush. The very reason he joined the military at a young age, despite his father wanting him to take over their family business instead of his two other siblings. He rested his fist onto his chest, the mere thought of his beloved brought a fond smile on his face.

"Umm..Rudy,"

The soft voice broke his train of thoughts as he slightly flinched, looking over the tree trunk he was leaning against to look for the source of sound. What greeted him also shocked him, the shorter demon girl's big eyes blinked innocently as his heart started to race wildly.

Argh, why does her father has to be THE renowned adventurer? His heart cried a little as he slowly cracked a smile, stepping out from behind the tree.

"L-Latina, what are you doing here?" He scratched the back of his neck nervously, eyes kept going up and down cause he was too flustered to look directly at her face. The said girl didn't answer him, instead moved closer to him. She shut her eyes and began chanting what seemed to be a healing spell, for the bruises and cuts around his body began to heal. Finishing her treatment, she slowly opened her eyes and smiled at the blushing knight.

"Rudy, I'm sorry. Dale went overboard today.." She couldn't help but sighed, thinking what her father had previously done during their spar. Her eyes linger towards Rudy's hand, biting her lips in hesitation before slowly reaching out to grab it. Her thumb softly grazed over the calluses, appreciating his determination to beat her father in order to court her.

"Thank you, Rudy. I can't help much but...I'll always be waiting," She pulled his hand closer, letting his palm caressed her cheek as she leaned into it like a small animal.

"I'm rooting for you. Goodluck~"

Of course the bright red blushing knight who somehow got redder than his hair melted, his heart couldn't take in too much of the fluttering to the point he actually fainted. In happiness. A big, goofy grin was plastered on his face the entire time as Latina screamed when he fell down, shaking his body in panic as their other friends who just came out of the tavern couldn't help but laughed.
