Work Text:
Kim watched her as she slept peacefully, pulling the sheets up to cover her, he kissed her forehead softly. it had been a few minutes since she gave up the guardianship and went into a slumper. But, they weren’t home. They were faraway, in the middle of nowhere.
He walked out of the tent they had sat up, calling for his transformation phrase. His baton dinged, checking out the message, he smiled in relief upon the cat’s message…
Miracle box is safe with Carapace and Rena ;)
He sent a text back; 'thanks' it read.
Groaning and coughing was heard, startling the monkey themed hero. Quickly he transformed back, getting back into the tent, kneeling to sit by the unconscious Marinette. She writhed before her hand shot up itching her forehead.
The young man crossed his legs, leaning forward on his elbows. While she hummed, and opened her eyes slowly. Looking around her, she went to sit up, making the blanket fall off her shoulders. Her teeth grazed and hissed in pain.
"Careful!" He went to pull the blanket around her tighter, helping her up to sit closer to the fire.
“Who are you?” she uttered, looking at him perplexed.
“It’s me, your idiot Kim.” she looked at him, wavy brown locks she remembered, were disheveled and neglected, his hazel eyes framed by the glasses he wore and the fancy clothes he had on. She made a stupid face.
“With glasses? Since when? Oh, you don’t look like fourteen anymore.” the young woman casually said, leaning closer to the fire.
Her loose hair swinging with her movements, framing her pale face.
“Where are we, Kim?” she said after a while, looking at him from the corner of her eyes.
“Oh, we are on some mountain. You know, you really liked to hike.” the tall man brushed his hair back, shrugging his shoulders.
“Why can’t I remember anything?” she ignored his awkwardness and asked instead.
“You hit your head in a rock and we had to stop and set a tent. You weren’t bleeding thank goodness.” he looked at his palm, avoiding her burning stare.
“Are we married?”
His breath hitched, “Why do you think so?”
“We are wearing matching bands.” he looked up at her to find her studying her ring.
Stupid, how could you forget?! he mentally screamed.
“So, are we?” Marinette asked again, turning her head fully, looking into his eyes, he sighed at her soft blue eyes before nodding his head.
“Oh.” she let out a whisper, before turning back to stare at the glowering fire.
The young man sat there speechless, knowing if he either messed up or not, he stared at the fire, debating if he should tell her more. She had always told him to hold her hand and to tell her that everything is going to be alright if anything happened, she knew it and predicted it soon.
He inched closer, his right knee touching her left one, he felt her confusion, before he saw it in her eyes. He slowly lifted his hand off his lap, offering it to her. And the way she stared at it and took it in hers slowly warmed his heart.
Staring together at the fire, she pulled him closer under the blanket, leaning her head on his shoulder.
“Everything’s gonna be alright, Marinette.” Kim softly whispered in her hair.
“Did we have pet names for each other?” she broke the silence, snuggling into his warmth more.
“We did, yeah.” he said wistfully.
“Do we have kids?” she leaned her head back into his lap, looking up at him.
“Um, yeah, two, their names are Camille and Lucian. They are twins.” The brown haired man told her with a smile while combing her hair with his fingers.
“Where are they now?” she hummed at the feeling of his fingers, closing her eyes.
“They are at your mother’s, she loves them to pieces.” he chuckled.
“Sounds just like mamon.” The woman chuckled softly.
“You wanna know something else?” He asked her, watching her open her eyes curiously. Humming.
“It’s Christmas. Merry Christmas, love.” He gently told her, smiling at her adorable face.
“Merry Christmas to you too, Idiot.” She grinned.
“Hey, you ruined the moment!” He playfully groaned at her.
“Well, you said you were my idiot.” the blue eyed woman sat up, adjusting his collar.
“Always.” He put his hand on her waist, looking into her eyes, leaning forward slowly, giving her a chance to back away, but she never did. She closed her eyes, and leaned in, meeting his chapped lips halfway.
They pulled back, taking in the air that their lungs had missed. They smiled, looking at each other, before she rested herself on his lap and chest, closing her eyes.
It wasn’t long after, that a portal had opened inside the tent, and a worried Pegasus helping a sleepy Kim to carry a sleeping Marinette back to Paris.
