"Blue... Blue, wait!" A voice calls out from behind me. I barely hesitate, running towards a bridge made of old, frayed ropes and decayed wood.
I can't tell where I am, it's too dark. Everything is shadowy and dream-like. A voice behind me continues to call out.
"Blue, you can't... the bridge! The bridge can't..."
Before the voice can finish, I'm partway across the bridge. I slow down to listen, but instead I hear a harsh crack.
"BLUE, NO!"
The next thing I know, the bridge and I are falling down. The bridge slams against the other side of the ravine and falls to pieces, while I'm left screaming as I plummet to the depths of the crevice.
"BLUE! BLUE!!"
"...ter... a...ster..."
"Aster, hey!"
"H-huh...?" I glance up at the girl speaking to me.
"Aster, are you alright?"
"Yuelia... my head..." Sharp, dizzying pains shoot through my skull. I can't even begin to remember what I was thinking about. "What happened?"
"I should be asking you that! You started freaking out when you saw the bridge up Mount Snowpeak."
"The bridge... Yuelia. Who am I?"
"What? Aster... maybe we should head back to the village."
"N-no, 'm fine." I go to cross the bridge, but I'm paralyzed by another wave of overwhelming pain. As I stare blankly across the bridge I feel nothing but fear.
"Aster... It's not a big deal. We can head back and try again tomorrow."
But... how can I do my job as a God's Envoy and save the world if I can't even cross a bridge? That and a variety of other questions are running through my head as Yuelia practically drags me back to the village.
By the time I get back to my house and settle in, my headache has subsided. But I can't get over my bizarre sense of déjà vu, nor can I remember what I was thinking about at the bridge before Yuelia caught my attention. There's something nobody is telling me.
