All I Want For Christmas Is You... Really.

Summary:

Mina finds herself alone on Christmas. Sana doesn't think that's acceptable.

Notes:

Hey everyone! The Christmas season got my gears turning and gave me inspiration for this piece. I hope you enjoy!

Work Text:

Mina’s eyes fluttered open. Checking the time on her phone, it was already ten in the morning. It's not like she had anywhere to go anyway. It’s Christmas today, and everyone will be busy attending family lunches and gatherings. She has no appointments today. No one to meet. With a sigh, she pushed her gray blankets to the side and stood up.

Mina stretched her arms. She could hear her spine cracking as she twisted side to side. Opening her wardrobe, she checked herself in the mirror. Looking good. As good as a person who just woke up would anyway. Mina grabbed a thin black hair tie and loosely bunched her hair into a low ponytail. She took off her tank top and looked around her wardrobe for an outfit for the day.

Mina’s wardrobe was stacked. It boasted a wide variety of clothing, ranging from elegant dresses to pricey streetwear pieces. She wasn’t feeling any of that though. She opened the bottom drawer, taking out a cheesy Christmas sweater still in its packaging. If she was going to be alone today, she might as well make the most of the occasion for herself. Right? Flipping the sweater in her hands, she recalled how she came to possess such an absurd article of clothing.

…

‘Minaaaa!’

‘What?’

‘I got this for you.’

Sana shoved a gift in front of Mina. Just as Mina was about to take it, Sana assisted the action by preemptively wrapping Mina in one of her signature warm and fuzzy hugs. The gift ended up trapped between the both of them. It felt light and soft. Mina held onto it with one of her hands to prevent it from dropping, her other hand going around to awkwardly pat Sana on the back.

‘Uhh… Thanks. Sana.’

‘You’re welcome! See you next year!’ With that, Sana broke the hug and departed, continuing to grin like a Cheshire cat whilst continuously turning back to wave at Mina as she walked away. Mina watched as Sana’s figure retreated into the crowd, responding to each of Sana’s waves with one of her own. A bittersweet smile took over Mina’s face when Sana was no longer visible.

‘See you next year, Sunshine.’ With a sigh, she began to walk away too.

Mina ripped off the clear plastic packaging, discarding it to the side. She took a whiff of the sweater. Smells just like her. Sana was in the habit of spraying her perfume all over Mina’s things because of the one time Mina said she smelt nice. In classic Sana fashion, the sweater emanated the smell of the perfume so strongly that Mina wouldn’t be surprised if the sweater had been drenched in it before it was returned into its original packaging.

Mina pulled the sweater over her head and checked herself in the mirror. Her jet black hair complimented the red and whites of the design. A pair of denim jeans would probably complete the stereotypical Christmas look pretty well. But Mina didn’t think she would need pants if she wasn’t going out or receiving visitors right? Right.

Mina grabbed her phone and headed out to the kitchen of her apartment. She began to make coffee as she wondered what she was going to do today. Should she spend the day binge watching a drama? Maybe exercise. Or build some lego? She still had a few unopened sets lying around.

The coffee machine finished dispensing with a ding. Mina grabbed the cup and began to look through her phone notifications as she took sporadic sips. There were lots of weather updates. A lot of news updates on the pandemic situation too. There was one message from the bank telling her that her monthly expense report was ready. No messages though. Or calls.

Mina sighed. Fuck. Sure, she was an introvert, but that didn't mean she couldn’t appreciate good company. Especially on a day like this. A day when everyone would be getting together, sharing laughter and trading stories. Everyone but her. She liked her alone time, just… not this much alone time.

Mina’s finger hesitated over the Instagram icon. Her feed would probably be filled with pictures of everyone having a good time at their Christmas gatherings. That wouldn’t be a good idea for her anxiety. She could feel it creeping up on her already.

Mina opened her messages instead. On instinct, she immediately tapped on her and Sana’s chat. She scanned the most recent messages. They had been talking about what kind of presents Sana should get her family members. The conversation ended early last night. She tapped on Sana’s name, enlarging her profile photo and bringing up her phone number - one tap away from a call. Mina ran her thumb over Sana’s picture. She was beautiful. Standing against the backdrop of a sunset, the sunbeams illuminated all the best features of her face perfectly. Her smile was just as bright as the background. The way the wind carded through her hair… Mina never thought messy hair could look so good.

Mina’s thumb was hovering over the phone number now. She was so lonely. What better way to alleviate that than to spend time with her favorite girl, right? But what if Sana was spending time with her family? Mina would drop everything just for Sana, and she knew the girl was likewise to her in this aspect. Fuck it. Mina moved her thumb to the side of her phone, pressing the off button. She placed the phone face down on the coffee table. Maybe I'll just… sleep the day away. She placed her mug in the sink and headed back to her bedroom. Jumping onto her discarded sheets, Mina pulled it back over herself and wrapped her head with her pillow.

-

Just as Mina was about to drift off, she heard a faint knock coming from outside. She was going to ignore it, but it became more and more insistent with time. Who the fuck is that? I swear I’m going to- Mina angrily swung the door open to come face to face with… Sana.

‘Sana?’

‘Hi Mina! Sorry… am I disturbing you?’

‘No! I mean… No. Not at all. What’s up? Weren’t you supposed to go to your mom’s house for lunch?’

‘Silly… I already did. I left early to come here and… see you.’

‘See me?’

‘Yeah… I remembered you were complaining a while ago about how lonely you get during the festive season. So I thought that it would be a good idea to maybe drop by because I know the feeling and- mmmph!’

Mina pulled Sana by the collar to meet her in an urgent kiss. Sana's lips were so soft and she tasted so amazing. Mina didn’t even wait for a second before she attempted to deepen the kiss. She licked Sana’s bottom lip hastily, waiting for the girl to quickly just open up and-

‘Mina. Mina!’ Sana pushed Mina away and into her apartment, closing the door behind her.

‘What?’

‘I don’t know if making out in the corridor with your pants off would be such a good idea. Speaking of which, did you take them off for me? Took you quite a while to answer the door you know and-’

Mina flushed red at the realization. She forgot to put her pants on when she answered the door. It would have been a total disaster if anyone else was at the door and she would probably jump out the window from the embarrassment. Well, at least it doesn’t matter now. She really didn’t mind not having pants with Sana and definitely would have taken them off for her if she knew she was at the door. Maybe the whole situation was a blessing in disguise.

‘Sana.’

‘Yeah?’

‘I didn’t take my pants off for you, but they are staying off.’

Mina leaned in to whisper into Sana’s ear. ‘Just for you.’

Now it was Sana’s turn to flush red. Mina was rarely able to fluster Sana like this. She always felt so powerful during the few times she was able to overturn their dynamic.

Sana cleared her throat. ‘I’m going to… sit on your couch now.’

‘Want anything to drink?’

‘Just water is fine baby.’

‘Sure thing.’

Mina loved it whenever Sana used pet names. Their relationship didn’t really have a definition right now. They were definitely more than friends, but they hadn’t really defined one another as girlfriends either. There was a lot of passion though, and they did a lot of things that couples usually did. Like kissing and pet names.

Mina sat next to Sana on her couch and passed her a tall glass of water, letting her hands linger over Sana’s as the glass changed hands. She also loved touching Sana whenever she could. Every touch sent pleasant tingles throughout her body and the sensation was something she had never felt before meeting Sana.

Mina simply loved Sana. Even right now, with Sana enquiring about her meals, making sure she was eating properly while she sipped from the glass with two hands. Mina swore she never met someone who could make drinking water as cute as Sana did.

‘Have you eaten your lunch yet? Wait. Did you even have your breakfast?’

‘No and no.’ Mina ducked her head and smiled sheepishly.

‘Awww my baby… You must be so hungry right now.’ Sana began to stroke Mina’s arm up and down in an affectionate manner - Mina loved that too.

‘Will you cook something for me?’ Mina looked up to meet Sana’s eyes with a shy smile and her own set of doe eyes.

‘Of course. Stay here.’ Sana got up and made for the kitchen.

Of course Mina wasn’t going to stay there. She padded after Sana, snaking her arms around Sana’s waist and attaching herself to Sana as she went about taking ingredients from different cupboards.

‘What’s gotten into you? You aren’t usually this touchy.’ Sana was giggling now, a warm, affectionate tone honeyed her words as she spoke softly.

‘I was just really lonely today.’ Mina buried her face into Sana’s neck, inhaling her sweet scent. The pheromones Sana was letting off today were getting Mina addicted. She closed her eyes as she let herself drift along with Sana. Mina could hear the occasional clang of a spatula against the pan on the stove, and soon enough the whiff of something delicious made its way into Mina’s nose. The stores of raw ingredients around Mina’s house weren't there because she was a cook by any means, but Sana knew a few recipes here and there. Soon enough, her endeavors, which took place at Mina’s home pretty often nowadays, began to shape Mina’s kitchen into a somewhat decent chef’s abode.

Mina opened her eyes to see Sana plating the fried noodles for her. Sana placed the plate on the counter, along with a pair of chopsticks from the drawer. Turning in Mina’s arms, Sana placed a light, lingering kiss on Mina’s nose.

‘All yours darling. Eat well.’

‘Thanks.’ Mina found Sana’s hand, squeezing it in an affectionate manner before making her way to sit on the other side of the counter.

Mina was actually quite hungry, and she gobbled up the noodles pretty quickly. All the while, Sana could only stare at the girl who was essentially inhaling the dish, taking in the scene with heart eyes. Mina placed the plate into the sink after she was finished, quickly washing it so wouldn’t have to bother about it later.

‘Sana.’

‘Yeah?’

Mina grabbed Sana’s hand and dragged her towards the couch once again. With a soft push, Sana fell onto the couch with a light oof

‘Wait here.’

Mina walked towards her bedroom, taking another peek at Sana before actually entering to make sure she obeyed.

‘What?’ Sana giggled.

‘Just making sure.’ Mina gave a small smile as she left.

Opening her wardrobe, Mina opened the top drawer and dug through her neatly folded clothes to pull out a small wrapped box. She was intending to give this Sana when they met again after the Christmas season, but she guessed there wasn’t a better time than now.

‘Sana~’ Mina called Sana’s name in a playful manner, pulling the girl’s gaze from her phone.

‘Hey.’

‘Merry Christmas baby.’

Mina revealed the box from behind her back, presenting it to Sana with the enthusiasm of a cat bringing its owner one of its favorite toys. Sana’s mouth hung slightly ajar, and she reached out dazedly to receive the gift, quickly tearing off the wrapping paper.  She opened the box to see a pair of earrings - its design was so beautiful that she could only stare.

‘Do you want me to help you put it on?’

Sana nodded quickly in response. Mina took the earrings, gently attaching them one at a time to each of Sana’s ears with as much care and concern one could muster into such an action. Mina came close to Sana’s face each time, letting her breath ghost over Sana's lips, the gesture sending shivers down Sana's spine.

‘There. Beautiful.’

A small intricate shape made from tiny diamonds shone from Sana’s earlobe. Streaks of white gold chain flowed from the shape, forming shiny threads which dangled along the length of Sana’s jawline. Combined with her outfit of a dark blue turtleneck sweater tucked into black skinny jeans, Sana just looked so chic… and attractive. And cool. And stylish…

Phew. Mina was going to melt right there and then if not for Sana’s tight bear hug which kept her grounded to the world.

‘Thank you Minari.’ Sana murmured in the sincerest tone Mina had ever heard from her. Sana pulled away from the hug to give Mina a hard kiss. Their lips didn’t move but both were acutely aware of the amount of love being poured into it. Mina whined when Sana pulled away, but she stopped complaining when she opened her eyes to meet Sana’s hooded ones. Sana was giving her the look which only meant one thing. Like a predator snaring its prey, Sana pounced onto Mina, pushing her to lie down on the couch as she started to attack her face with kisses. Mina couldn’t even find it in herself to resist. Sana kissed every mole on her face, then her nose, cheeks, forehead and lips. Each kiss was slower than the next, becoming more sincere and less playful with every increment. The one that found Mina’s lips lingered, leaving her satisfied as Sana pulled away.

‘Mina.’

‘Mhmm?’

‘Mina.’

‘Yes?’

‘I love you.’

‘...I love you too.’
