"How many more miles do we gotta walk befor-"
"SHHH! Quiet Ness! You'll wake someone up!"
"Right..."
Truth be told, these two kids, Ness and Lucas, should really be in bed right now. Well, if it weren't for Ness losing a bet.
"Lucas, why are we even doing this? Master Hand will kill us if were caught!" Ness said, panic in his otherwise quiet voice.
"Ness, we're only doing this because you lost a bet with Ninten. And you know he never loses. Not once."
"Oh, thanks for reminding me. I could never stand the look on his face when he saw me lose that fight against Kumatora."
"You're welcome." Lucas sarcastically replied.
The two kids went around the Smash Mansion, looking for the so-called "private closet" that held the "King Of Smash" clothing.
Apparently, the clothing, along with the scepter, crown, and title, were all personal clothing that belonged to the winner of the King Of Smash tournament.
A tournament held for only male fighters to determine who is the "ruler" of Smash. The idea was conjured up by Terry Bogard, who himself said was "the greatest idea to ever exist in the history of anything".
To everyone, it was a great idea. To the fans, it was the best intense tournament they've seen in a while. To Ness, it was just a bunch of royal-looking stuff with bragging rights tied in. But the motion followed, and soon it was established, along with a "Queen Of Smash" version for female fighters. And boy, was it successful.
"I don't even know WHY we even have a tournament like this!" Ness said, a bit of anger in his voice. "It's all lame to me. Why can't we do something like a... Mega-Sized Tourney or something?"
"Last time we did that, Giant Isabelle existed." Lucas said.
Ness just scoffed.
The two would continue their search for the door for quite a while, making sure that they didn't wake anyone up. If they split up, they had to use their Smash Phones to communicate. Which was subsequently, what they had to do to find the closet.
"Any luck? I'm feeling tired already." Ness said over the phone.
"No, not even the slightes- ow!"
"Lucas!"
Ness rushed over to the downed Lucas, who got up, albeit dizzy.
"Lucas? Lucas are you okay?" Ness panicked.
"Shhh! Stop being loud!" Lucas whispered. "I only got hit by this doorknob..." Lucas pointed up.
"Holy crap, Lucas..."
"What?"
"You found the closet!" Ness raised his voice, before closing his mouth. Can't have anyone waking up to a little kid nearly screaming at the top of his lungs.
Lucas turned around, and saw the big door with the words "SMASH CLOSET" written on it. "Ahh... finally. Lets get this open."
Ness rushed past Lucas, desperately trying to open the door by pulling.
"Damn, locked!" Ness (quietly) cussed.
"Jeez. Do you kiss Paula with that mouth?" Lucas asked.
"Shut up. Now how do we get this open?"
Ness and Lucas briefly considered their options, before Lucas realized something and pulled out a key.
"Where did you get that?" Ness questioned.
"Kumatora gave them to me in case you lost to her. Said something about you might needing all the help you can get."
"And HOW did she get the key?"
"I... never asked."
Ness just facepalmed.
"Well, you got the key. Now use it!" Ness whispered.
"Alright! Jeez, you sound as pushy as Kumatora." Lucas said, before reaching up to unlock the door.
"It's open. Let's go."
"Finally." Ness said. Following Lucas into the closet.
The kids turned on the lights to see, and they stood before, what could've been considered, a museum of bright and beautiful clothing, thousands of costumes, all put up nice and neatly, and they looked astonishing, as if they were only for the best, and some of the clothes envoked some kind of nostalgia.
"T-The clothes look great and all, but we should really get goin- Lucas?"
"I-I-... It's beautiful..." Lucas said.
"...Are you crying?"
"N-No... I just used PK Water on myself..." Lucas lied.
"But I thought PK Water didn't exist?" Ness questioned.
"Ninten's just keeping secrets..."
"Uh huh. Come on, let's go find this stupid 'king' outfit."
The two kids searched through the expansive closet, searching for anything that could be fitting for a king. No luck.
"This is taking too long." Ness complained. "At this rate it's probably morning, and I'm tired..."
"Just stay with me Ness." Lucas said "It should be here somewhere!"
"At this point, I'd be glad if we found out it didn't exist."
"It DOES exist! We just gotta... touch the walls for a button or something!"
"That's a crappy belief."
Lucas and Ness went ahead and slid their hands across the walls for some kind of a button (much to the latter's chargin).
"This sucks, Lucas. I'm going bac-" Ness said, before stepping on a pressure pad.
"Ness..."
"What?" Ness turned around to see the wall behind him turning. "Oh..."
What now stood before them was none other than the clothing that would adorn the "King Of Smash" itself. A beautiful, white and blue, medieval style tunic that resembled more of a prince rather than a king, with golden buttons, a blue cape, all-white pants with butterflies on them, blue-streaked boots, a scepter besides the royal clothing, and of course, who could forget that crown sitting on top?
Lucas stood before the clothing in complete awe, while Ness just looked very much petrified.
"I am NOT wearing that!" Ness yelled.
"I didn't make the rules! Just go and wear them!" Lucas replied.
"Well, get Popo to do it! He's already halfway through the tournament anyway!"
"And risk getting thrown to Final Destination?"
Ness sighed. "Fine."
"Thank you."
With that (and the help of Lucas), Ness grabbed the clothes, scepter, and crown, and hurried to the dressing room.
A few minutes had passed, no sign of Ness getting out of the dressing room.
"Any minute now Ness!" Lucas called.
"I'm almost done!" Ness replied.
"He's gonna take forever at this rate..."
"I heard that."
Lucas just sighed.
Before long, Ness finally came out of the dressing room. Adorned with the same royal clothing that was presented before them just a few minutes ago.
"N-Ness, how did you..."
"I'm not sure myself either... they just seemed to fit me well."
"...Are you in the tournament?"
Ness sighed. "Used to."
"Oh. Then how come did they fit you anyway?"
"Seriously, I'm REALLY not sure."
"Heh. Well you look great in them anyway." Lucas said.
"T-Thanks." Ness blushed a little, embarrassed. "N-Now can I please take them of- HEY!"
"Sorry Ness, but Ninten said he wanted pictures." Lucas said
"Oh, you as-"
"Look, just make some king-like poses for me or whatever. Ninten's serious about this!" Lucas cut-off.
"Fine! This is just embarrassing..."
Ness subsequently forced himself to make poses befitting of a king. Ness felt like a pretender to the throne, making all these poses, saying all these big words, yet he himself was knocked out of the tournament by Popo. How he was able to fight without Nana, was beyond Ness. But who cares at this point anyway? All Ness wanted to do now was just go to sleep already.
"Ness, if you were the King Of Smash, I would've thrown on my commander outfit and served you!" Lucas said, still taking pictures of the would've-been King Of Smash.
"Lucas, are we done here?"
"Yeah, yeah. Just do one more for me, okay?" Lucas pleaded.
"Ugh, fine. One more."
Ness put his hand on his hip and his other, holding the scepter, out.
"'Kneel before me, peasants of Smash!'"
And with that, Lucas to his last photo of "King Ness". Before putting his phone back in his pocket.
"Done! Now we can go to our rooms and pretend this never happened!"
"Finally." Ness said, and went back to the dressing room.
Few minutes later, Ness was back in his normal clothing, with the stuff he wore put back on the presenter.
"Ninten is gonna laugh at me for this..."
"And you better hope that Popo doesn't kill you for it either."
"Oh stuff it, Lucas. It's not like he was big on his ego anyways."
"Heh. As expected from the 'future chief' of Yukino." Lucas said.
"Come on. Before everyone wakes up and finds us out." Ness commanded.
"As you wish, King Ness."
"Ugh, stop it!" Ness said, before the two kids walked away.
What they didn't know, was that someone was following closely behind. Watching the two kids with a stern face and with red eyes. And neither Ness, or Lucas, could even bat an eye. The mysterious, red-eyed fighter watched them from afar as the left the closet. And, well, the fighter didn't even try to walk up to them to give the kids a stern talking to.
"Hm. Amatures." Was all Selvaria Bles could say.
