Christmas With You

Summary:

Once again on Christmas Eve, Satoru Gojo the fabled Jack Frost appears to annoy Utahime Iori.

Utahime shivers as she sits on one of the waiting seats at the bus stop. She has just got off from work, and it's already late. It was a snowy evening, the streets were quiet and desolate, void of people. It seemed like a place in a snow globe forever layered with piles of snow and trapped in eternal winter, but that wasn't the reason why she shivered.

"Hello, lyubimaya moya ,"

It was the familiar low, husky and cheery voice of the spirit that always annoyed her during this season every year. She releases a sigh, watching how her warm breath mingles in the cold air and turns to white puffs before looking to her right, seeing the fabled Jack Frost.

Also known as Satoru Gojo.

Notes:

Dear Nae,

Thank you for everything you've done for me this year. Being my beta in my works and inspiring me and WIP-ing me to do better on my fics. You dragged me across multiple fandoms and pairings that I now can't get out of, and I can't help but love you more for that. Meeting you has become one of the best things that happened to me this year. And I hope you won't get tired of editing my works any time soon.

I love you so much Bhie. Happy Holidays <3

P.S. I will still bow down over the pictures of your baked pastries. I wish you could catapult them across the oceans so I can eat those brownies and cookies.

P.S.S. Also forgive me in this fic, I did my best editing alone with Grammarly.

This work is inspired by mewnbyul's art of Gojo as Jack Frost appearing in front of Utahime. Thank you Moon for your permission to make your idea into a short story. Here's the link to that fanart.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

He takes the free chair beside her, his hands holding his staff in front of him while he leans on his arms. His white hair unruly frames his features like a portrait, blue sapphire eyes cheekily gleam at her with mirth, and his pink lips curl into a smug smirk, hinting his perfect, pearly teeth. A flush of red colors his cheeks and the tips of his ears that made him seem human despite how he carried himself like an otherworldly being.

And as usual, he's still wearing that frost-covered blue hoodie and dark pants, forgoing any footwear to cover his feet. He didn't need them anyway, the cold never bothered him.

She wouldn't lie that for a spirit, he's breathtakingly handsome even in those basic clothes of his. If he was human and all, ladies would probably worship the ground he walked on and flock around him like he was a deity.

She narrows her eyes at the unfamiliar language he said to her. She has an inkling that he called her something ridiculous this time. Every time he pops up out of the blue in front of her, he'll always tease her. "What did you say?"

"I called you a hysterical bitch in Russian." He simply answers and his smirk turns to a wide grin when she frowns at him in annoyance.

Attractive he may be, but with his infuriating personality, Utahime can guarantee that Satoru is nothing more than a jerk.

A very handsome and stupid winter spirit jerk.

“Piss off Gojo.” Utahime hiss at him. “Don’t you have anything else important to do?”

“Nope!” Satoru says, popping the letter ‘p’. “Annoying you is more important Utahime~”

She rolls her eyes and sighs again. He’s always like this, ever since she met him on one, particularly snowy night over five years ago on Christmas eve. That night, she went home alone after celebrating the occasion with her friends. She passed by the park while it was snowing and then stopped to look at the dark sky. Utahime remembered how lonely she was at that time. People around her seemed to find their happiness in their partners, family, and jobs. While she felt tired each day as she tried to provide herself a good life.

Suddenly, a blue snowflake descended, curious she observed it until it fell on her nose. A burst of sparkles surrounded her vision, she blinked several times in surprise, and once it was gone, a pair of crystalline blue eyes were in front of her.

Utahime shrieked at seeing Satoru for the very first time. Who wouldn’t? A handsome man with the most beautiful blue eyes in the world was hanging upside down with a grin on his face.

“You can’t be serious, Gojo,” Utahime deadpans at the winter spirit. “Isn’t it winter for many countries? Aren’t you supposed to be spreading the chill or whatever you’re supposed to do right now? To make those little kids happy?”

“I’m on break! C’mon, the winter spirit himself need to rest too!” Satoru pouts like a child. “And the rest of the guardians won’t play with me.”

“Obviously.”

“They’re too busy,” Satoru ruffles his hair, making it even messier before he leans his head back to the glass wall behind him. “Yaga is currently delivering all his presents to the children.”

“Uh-huh.”

“Mei Mei and her fairies are still collecting the teeth tonight.”

“It’s her job.”

“Nanamin is also being his grumpy sandman self. His eye bags are probably the reason for it.”

“Maybe if you don’t annoy him every minute, he’d not shoo you away, Gojo.” Utahime had the same beliefs as the sandman regarding the winter spirit. Satoru is a headache to deal with when he’s around.

“And Suguru is hibernating because it’s cold. Hibernating, he says!”

She clicks her tongue in displeasure as Satoru goes on with his rant. She puts her cheek on her hand and faces away from him. Her head will split into two soon out of irritation at this rate if she doesn’t look anywhere else but him. “He’s the Easter Bunny. Of course, he’s going to hibernate because he’s partly a mammal.”

“Touche.”

“Stop whining and get over it then.”

He didn’t say anything else after that, silence falling around them. However, it lasted for a short while until Satoru cleared his throat.

“Besides,”

Satoru’s voice suddenly turns serious, catching Utahime’s attention away from her snowy surroundings. She looks back at him, and he stares at her with his enchanting blue eyes with an expression she couldn’t discern.

He bit his lips before licking it with his tongue. His cheeks were redder, and his gaze more intense, filled with a fiery intention that contrasted his cool nature. He tried to act suave with how he moved his hands with his staff, but he somehow made it look clumsy and endearing as he fidgets.

One moment ago he was infuriating with that smug grin of his. Now, he’s acting like a dork trying to be smooth.

Utahime thinks her mind is playing tricks on her. There is no way that Satoru was…nervous? He had an inflated ego with the confidence to match. Satoru Gojo, the Jack Frost, was never nervous.

Until tonight that is.

“I wanted to spend this Christmas with you, Utahime. So would you like to go on a date with me right now?”
