Being in the Devildom could be a stressful time for a human being. The classes were different from the ones in the human world, often being hard for MC to understand, especially with all the demon terminology. It was always nighttime, which MC didn’t particularly mind, but going outside by herself in the eternal darkness did leave a sense of uneasiness. And, the fact that she was surrounded by demons that could easily kill her with one move did add some stress sometimes.
It wasn’t that MC was stressed all the time, but there were days when small matters would pile on top of each other and weigh her down. It was times like these that she sought out ways to relieve her stress. Playing violent video games with Levi, reading with Satan, taking naps with Belphie, shopping with Mammon. Although, her favorite way to destress was through Beelzebub’s hugs.
The giant red head demon was well known within the Devildom for his hugs. Being so tall and muscular, his hugs completely engulfed MC and made her feel safe and protected.
And that was exactly where MC was headed right now, after a long day at school. There was a pop quiz in her Demon History class that she definitely bombed, and to make matters worse, Lucifer was in a terrible mood after one of Satan and Belphie’s schemes. The eldest brother was usually kind enough to her, but his temper was a wicked thing. So after getting back from classes, she felt the urge to spend the next hour being hugged by Beel.
“Hey Beel,” MC walked into the common room where he was watching some demon soap opera.
“Hi MC,” Beel’s warm reply already melted away some of her stress. She really could count on him to feel better.
“Whatcha watching?” She asked, standing by him in front of the couch.
“Nights of our Lives,” Beel responded, his eyes looking up at her curiously.
“Is it any good?”
He shrugged, “It was the only thing on right now.”
MC nodded her head, already knowing that this show wasn't something he usually watched. It was more likely Asmo had forced him to watch it and now Beel was watching because it was familiar.
She decided to just cut to the chase. “Can I have a hug?”
Beel blinked slowly, then opened his arms wide for her. MC all but collapsed into his lap, his arms closing in around her so she was being cradled. She sighed
contently, closing her eyes and breathing in his familiar, comforting scent.
They were silent for a while, the only sound coming from the show displayed on the TV. That was one of the things MC appreciated the most about Beelzebub, his
ability to make silence feel comfortable.
Beel’s hands absentmindedly played with MC’s, his large fingers trailing up and down her smaller ones. MC sunk deeper into his lap, letting the stress of the past few hours melt away as his chest warmed her back.
“Did you have a bad day?” Beel finally asked, his chest rumbling as he spoke.
MC nodded her head, “Yeah. Lucifer spent like a solid ten minutes lecturing Satan, Belphie, and me for a prank that I wasn’t even a part of.”
The red head bobbed his head in response, “They do drag you into a lot of their anti-Lucifer plans.”
“Normally I don’t mind, but getting told off for something I didn’t even do was not fun.”
Beelzebub placed a comforting hand on her knee, giving it a few pats in reassurance. The contact on her bare skin sent shivers up her body, making her face grow warm. If Beel noticed her flushed skin, he didn’t say anything.
“M’sorry about my brothers,” Beel offered, but they both knew it was something out his control.
“It’s alright Beel, I’m just glad I can spend time with you.”
Unbeknownst to MC, her comment caused a fond smile to grow on the demon’s face. The two students talked about their days, plans for the weekend, and how Levi
was definitely using Asmo’s card to secretly buy Ruri-chan figurines.
Her eyes grew heavy as they talked, the rhythmic movement of Beel’s chest behind her lulling her to sleep. MC didn’t bother trying to fight off sleep as she finally closed her eyes and completely relaxed in Beel’s arms.
The demon tightened his grip on the exchange student, his fingers intertwining with hers as she finally drifted off.
MC woke up feeling weightless. Her eyes popped open, wondering what in the world was happening and-
Oh.
Beelzebub was carrying her, bridal style.
“Beel?” Her voice sounded raspy after just waking up.
He looked down at her, a small smile forming on his face once their eyes met. “You fell asleep and it was getting late so…”
MC nodded her head, sleep still fogging her mind as she rested her head on his chest. “Thanks big guy.”
Beel hummed in response, making his way up the stairs towards her room. MC silently admired him as he walked the rest of the way to her room. Despite seeming intimidating on first impression, he really was a handsome demon.
He glanced down at her, catching her gaze. MC flushed, slightly embarrassed for staring so openly. But Beel just quirked a half smile at her, a dimple appearing on his cheek.
Her door was open already as he strode into the room, gently placing her down on the bed.
“Thanks Beel,” MC smiled warmly at him, but she was already missing the feel of his arms around her.
He nodded his head but seemed hesitant to leave. It wasn’t possible that he wanted to stay the night, right?
“Did you…” MC paused, hoping she wasn’t wrong about this, “Do you want to stay here tonight?”
His eyes snapped to hers, and a faint blush appeared on his cheeks.
“Can I?” His voice was soft and uncertain. They had spent their fair share of napping, but they never spent the whole night together. Much less alone and in MC’s room at that.
MC nodded her head, scooting over to the farthest corner of the bed. Beel took up most of the small bed space, forcing the two of them close together.
MC scooted even closer to the big demon, wrapping her arms around his firm waist. She figured this would be okay since she did spend the past few hours in his lap.
He immediately responded, bringing his own arms around her protectively. He sighed contently and pressed a gentle kiss on the top of her head.
“Goodnight Beel,” MC mumbled against his chest, already feeling drowsy again.
“Night MC,” he responded, soft voice full of love.
It was the best night’s sleep either of them had in a long time.
