Notes:
You can turn on closed captioning for the song's lyrics! I've added this to most of my videos at this point, but I thought I should mention it specifically for this video since Sufjan's lyrics are quite abstract and his enunciation isn't always super clear, and most people don't have every lyric of this song memorized like I do!
I finally finished this video last September, but it kept getting pushed back by other videos that I wanted to upload sooner, so it's only just now going out into the world! I got this idea when I was watching season 2 of Queer as Folk for the first time, so it was all the way back in February 2021. I decided to just make this one video. Obviously, "just one video" turned into more.
I don't know if anyone other than me will understand this video. It's kind of strange, and I think some people, even those that watched the show, may find it confusing. This was intended as a character study, exploring Brian and his various hang-ups about life, death, age, beauty, romance, family, and, of course, love, so I found it easier to ignore timeline (for the most part, although not entirely) and structure everything thematically. I hope that, despite this video's unconventionality, it's still enjoyable to watch!
