Work Text:

As one of Pepa's kids, you always tried to calm her down with the help of you brother, Camilo, when she was in a bad mood. And when helping I mean listening to her, giving her tea, talking with her, and comforting her when needed. Not just telling her that she was thundering, and waiting for her to deal with it alone.

Today, it was different. You brother Camilo was doing his chores outside, and you were cleaning your room, until you heard something: thunders.

'Mamá', you thought.

You left everything as it was, and ran to see where she was, to then realize that it wasn't just her that was thundering, it was the entire town.

Oh boy, this is bad.

"Pepa, calm down!" You heard Abuela scream from downstairs.
"I'm trying!"

You ran downstairs, to then walk to where Pepa was.

"Mami, is everything okay?" You asked, with a calm voice

She looked at you, her hands running down her hair to try and calm the thunderstorm.

"I'm trying, I'm trying..." she repeated

"It's okay, Ma. I'll help you. Let's go to your room. You'll be better there, okay?"

You helped her walk up the stairs, and then opened her room's door. She sat down in her bed, and after you got her some tea, you did too.

"Want to tell me what's happening?" You asked

"I... I don't know. I guess I just had too much stress in me and..."

"You just... exploded right now?"

"Yes" she answered

"Mami, you know Camilo and I told you to look for help if that happened. Your family is here for you"

"Well, yes, but mamá is always looking, and telling me to 'not have clouds'..."

She started shaking. Remembering those words were horrible.

"I love my family, but I don't want you all to see me like this..."

Silence. She left the tea in a table to not spill it. After a some time, you broke the silence.

"I love rain, mum"

Your sudden words surprised her.

"What?"

"I love rain. I know it's weird... and it doesn't mean that I like seeing you like this! I really hate when you're very stressed. It's sad that you feel that way, ma." You explained "but I love rain. And I'll always love you as you are, and help you even when you're at your lowest. We all will, even when you make things like this"

She was about to start crying. But happy crying.

She hugged you, and you returned to hug.

"Thank you, cariño"

"You're welcome, ma"

And like that, you both took a deep breath in and out, and the thunderstorm was gone.
