Work Text:

On the particular day where it was quite gloomy outside, with the constant pouring of rain, and being cooped up in the apartment for so long, Namjoon thought he was perhaps getting a little crazy. The weather was getting to him, and on top of that, his two little monsters were also starting to get fussy, albeit still excited for the all  rain outside. Though as much as the little ones wanted to go out and play in the rain, the adults knew better. So there they are, stuck inside as it continues to rain cats and dogs.

But even if Namjoon loved the rain so much, being stuck inside for so long and seeing that there’s no end to the gloomy and rainy skies, it sucked the life out of him. If anything, he’s just really saddened at the fact that a day - especially where they were both off from work - was wasted inside. Though, as he turns his head away from the window and after letting out the nth sigh of the day, his eye lands on Seokjin. Right then, Namjoon had suddenly felt more grounded and all the other ill feelings dissipated. Just like magic. Only the feeling of adoration and love for the man began to rush immensely through him instead of the hopeless and empty feeling he’s getting with the rain outside.

Namjoon had just looked at the love of his life and everything seemed to be alright again. He wasn’t feeling so damp anymore, and it was all because he had just turned his face and looked at Seokjin. The other wasn’t even doing anything, but there was a fond expression on his face as he stared at their little one who was much more having fun seeing the rain than Namjoon did. Seeing that alone grounded him, gave him comfort and assurance that the rain will pass and that he shouldn’t be feeling like this when he’s got all that he needs right here.

But then a silly thought passed him by, and it once again threw Namjoon off. This time he really thought it had to do with the weather because he had this urgency to say I love you. It was like if he didn’t get to say it now, then the feeling and meaning would be washed away along with the rain. It’s a very silly thought, he knew that wasn't true but his mind had suddenly  conjured up the thought. The weather has really messed with him especially from how it turned sunny to gloomy in the blink of an eye. But if he was to really hit the nail with the hammer, maybe he had just wanted to say those words just cause and well, between the pouring rain outside to the little chaos happening in their own home - it had just felt right to say it right there and then.

So he did.

Namjoon said it in between the excited screaming of their two kids as they continued to look out their window as the rain continued to come down heavily with the rumbling of thunder to a sequence of scenes from Studio Ghibli’s My Neighbor Totoro movie playing on the tv. Namjoon said it without missing a beat, said it so naturally  and when Seokjin turned to face him after hearing it, there was that funny little smile on his lips.

“All of a sudden?” Seokjin’s smile hasn’t faded, only seeming to grow bigger, his eyes twinkling with a sparkle. Namjoon smiles back at him, dimples popping out, as his shoulders move up in a shrug. “Just felt like saying it is all. I love you, Seokjin-ah ”

The heavy rain continues to pour, just as Nari and Hyejun’s screams and giggles become louder with each rumble of thunder and pour of rain. Seokjin stays still, looks at his husband a bit suspiciously still with that beautiful smile of his, “What did you do? Did you break something?” He cocks a brow, amused as he stares at his husband, trying to get something out of him. However, the only thing that he gets out of Namjoon is a chuckle, where he throws  his head back just a bit, hitting his head against the sofa then.

“Nothing, nothing really. I really just wanted to say it. ” Namjoon threw his hands in the air as if he got caught, smiling while doing so. Seokjin lowers his suspicious gaze now, but there’s that mischievous glint in his eyes that Namjoon knows all too well. Soon enough, he was getting a face full of Seokjin, their noses touching, breathing  upon each other’s lips. Half expectantly, Namjoon waited for a kiss to come but of course, knowing  his husband for so long,  knows him like the back of his hand, he knows Seokjin wouldn’t give in that easily.

“That’s it, huh? Is it because my birthday is coming up? But I love you too, you silly bear.” Seokjin then boops his nose and leans back into the sofa, all while giggling and looking happy. Namjoon scrunches his nose cutely and just then, Seokjin leaves a kiss on his lips. The gesture  has Namjoon in a bit of a surprise, just as the loudest rumble of thunder begins to resonate throughout the entire apartment. Stuck in his little reverie with Seokjin giggling next to him, the pitter patter of two smaller feet come quickly back to the sofa, nestling back into the warmth of the thick blankets.

Finally coming back to his full senses, Namjoon joins in on the cuddling fest happening next to him. As the sequence of the movie comes to play, the part where Totoro, Mei and Satasuki, fly up in the sky at night, and with the little ones quiet and hyper focused on the movie, Namjoon turns to Seokjin and asks,

“Your birthday is coming up though. What do you want to do?”

It seems like Seokjin didn’t hear him at first, perhaps also too focused on the film,  so he asks a little louder, and this time also catching the attention of the little ones who want in on the plans for their beloved Papa’s birthday.

“Nothing much, just being here with you guys is more than enough.”

Upon saying this, Nari and Hyejun immediately shake their heads - already protesting the idea of this. So as big doe eyes and pouty lips start to move and tell them all their plans, Namjoon and Seokjin listen carefully. So far, the plans that the little ones have talked about are making a cake, going to the mall and visiting the toy store there and then coming home, have dinner with all their uncles. In hindsight, it was a cute idea of the little ones and they could do just that, but Seokjin wanted to tease his babies just a bit.

“Okay but I thought Daddy was asking me ?”

“ Paappaa ,” The little ones whined collectively, their cutest and biggest pouts on full display which had just made the parents coo at their cuteness. They continue to feign innocence as the little ones still  try to convince them of their plans.

“How about this instead? We can still make a cake for Papa but the other things, we can do that some other time. It is still Papa’s birthday, little ones. Let’s do something he really wants, okay?” Namjoon voices, the pouts were still much evident on their tiny faces but Nari and Hyejun seem to give in nonetheless.

“But can the uncles still come and have dinner with us?” Hyejun asks, looking up at Namjoon expectantly with the cutest puppy eyes. While the both kids were especially close with their uncles and absolutely loved them to bits, Hyejun especially had a deeper adoration for his five uncles. So when the little boy asked if they still could come, it just melted all of their hearts. Soon enough, Nari had also chimed in, also asking about seeing their uncles too and began to ramble on about how she cant wait for her Uncle Mimi to do her hair again and put pretty clips on it. It eventually became a huge talk between the two about how they can’t wait to see them and all the things they’re going to do together.

It was very endearing and the cutest sight to see them have such a special bond with some of the most important people in Namjoon and Seokjin’s lives.

“We have to ask them first if they’re not busy but if they aren’t and they say yes, then we can do just that. Sounds like a good plan?”Seokjin says, making a mental note to message the group chat later and ask them - though he’s quite sure that they’ll say yes most especially because it’s the kids requesting to see them.

“The best!” Nari and Hyejun both cheer, their excitement already bouncing and radiating throughout the entire apartment. Once their initial reaction and excitement had died down, the family had gone back to watching the film as the rain outside continued to pour heavily without an end in sight.

♡

On the morning of Seokjin’s birthday, Namjoon wakes up extra early to prepare a special breakfast for the birthday celebrant.  As per tradition of theirs, the infamous birthday pancakes for breakfast were a must. From what had started out as a little gesture between friends turned into a yearly tradition from then up to now. It’s been a thing of theirs amongst others and Namjoon is more than willingly to wake up an hour earlier than usual just to get it ready by the time that Seokjin wakes up.

Of course, as it's also another tradition of theirs, Namjoon wouldn’t be doing it alone. He’s got two angels who are just as excited to make the birthday pancakes and wake their beloved Papa up with it. So,  as he makes sure that his husband is still very much deep in his dream world, he slips out of bed, gently removes the arm that’s wrapped around him and makes his way to the rooms of his little helpers to wake them up.

After freshening up a bit, he heads out to the hall, opening the hallway lights in his way. Once he reaches Nari’s door, Namjoon gets greeted by the reminiscent and vibrant colors and hues of the particularly widely loved  lantern scene in the movie Tangled.

He smiles to himself as he remembers how excited Nari had been when she finally decided what she wanted to decorate her door with. It was probably the hardest decision that the now five year old girl made but for what it's worth in the end, Namjoon is sure that his little girl loves it more than anything. It was perfect, the lanterns that were painted were absolutely gorgeous just as the sky was. Everything couldn’t have been any better and it was all thanks to their uncle Koo for doing such a great job.

He turned the knob gently, Namjoon let himself in and switched on the lights. The little girl was still peacefully sleeping in her bed, unaware of her father. It sort of breaks Namjoon’s heart having to wake her up so early and disturb her sleep but Nari had requested to be woken up this early anyways. So Namjoon sucks it up and gets to waking her up. It's a three step process into waking up the Kim children every morning and Namjoon  had to go through each one. It was a whole routine but he didn’t mind it one bit, he loves doing this each morning and he’s more than happy that he gets to do it.

The three steps goes as it follows:

  1. Softly call out to them and touch their feet (a simple name call and wiggling of their feet will  do just fine. But if this doesn’t work, proceed to step two.)
  2. Kisses (morning kisses doesn’t hurt anybody but it gets the little ones to demand for it to stop and wakes them up entirely. If this fails, proceed to step three.)
  3. Tickle monster attack. (If all else fails, this is what it has to come down to. The return of the tickle monster. The little ones don’t really like getting tickled especially in the mornings, so surely this will wake them up.)

Nari is definitely easier to wake up in the morning though. She wakes up to her name being called and her feet being touched but there are some times where she plays hard to get. There’s days where she does it on purpose and wants to wake up to kisses or even sometimes with tickles. On those days, either Namjoon or Seokjin (depending on who gets to do the waking) would go along with her when there’s a clear indication of what’s happening - they would indulge her just a bit. So when Namjoon woke her up that morning, and she didn’t budge when he simply called out to her, it seemed to be one of those days where the little girl had wanted to be woken up differently.

“Nari-ah, wake up, baby. It’s morning now and it's Papa’s birthday!” He calls out to the little girl one more time. Namjoon gets no verbal response, but just a slight movement of her body. He lifts up the blanket that covers her little feet and starts wiggling them. Still, Nari makes no sound and so, this just leads to Namjoon proceeding to step two.

He walks around the bed, takes a seat next to the open space next to Nari. Her body is turned the other way, but he still leans in just a bit to remove the strands of hair that’s covering her face. Namjoon really hates to disturb her sleep as she looks so peaceful, surrounded by her plethora of stuffed toys, especially her precious white alpaca and baby blue koala. Her cheeks puffed out and pressed against the pillow, and all he wants to do is just coo at her. But Namjoon still has to go through with it and wake her up if he wants to make those pancakes on time.

He leans in more closely, carefully pressing his weight but not crushing her all that much. Then as he moves the last bits of hair away from her face, Namjoon begins to pepper her face with tiny kisses - testing out the waters to see if that can get a reaction out of her. It wasn’t his luck, but Namjoon did see the small smile forming onto her face - it was working little by little.

“Come on Nari bug, it’s time to get up. We still have to make pancakes and wake your brother up. Papa’s going to wake up soon and if we don’t get up now,  he won’t have any pancakes.” Namjoon tries, all whilst peppering her face with kisses. For a moment, he thought that he had to resort to tickling but after placing one big (kind of sloberry) kiss on her cheek, Nari burts into a fit of giggles, saying, “ Okay Daddy! Stop, it's tickling me.”

Namjoon joins her giggling, moving away so that his little girl can get up.  Nari sits up, rubbing her eyes with her tiny fists, just as she turns to look at her father smiling as she does so.

“Good morning daddy.”

Namjoon smiles, dimples protruding out, “Morning, little one. Did you have a good sleep?”

“Mhm! I’m so excited for today, it’s Papa’s birthday and we’re going to have so much fun.” Nari says, removing the blankets that’s covering her and jumping into Namjoon’s arms. It’s a bit of a surprise but he grabs her securely and hugs her little body just as tight. Nari then buries her face into the crook of his neck, nuzzling it which makes him burst into a fit of giggles. The father daughter stayed like that for a moment, just Nari in Namjoon’s arms and holding her tightly. Namjoon might not enjoy waking up early but when his mornings are like this, he doesn’t mind it at all.

“Okay, let's fix your bed first and then go wake up your brother.” But Nari makes no motion to let go of her father, so Namjoon just carefully stood up from where he was, and securely held onto the little girl, hoisting her up. Nari tightened her hold around his neck and Namjoon had just smiled to himself, carefully making way to the room adjacent to hers. It didn’t take long before the familiar door of Hyejun’s came to view. Much like Nari’s, his bedroom door was also painted just the same way he wanted. It was decorated and decked out with his favorite superhero, Spider-Man.

Hyejun’s choice came easier to him than his sister. He was very set on wanting to have Spider-Man painted on his  door and asked his Uncle Koo to make it look “ cool and awesome like Spider-Man ”. His Uncle Koo who was also very much a Spider-Man enthusiast himself was very much happy to have done it and did not disappoint. The little boy was absolutely thrilled and in absolute bliss when it was finished. Hyejun couldn’t stop talking about it just as much as Nari did.

The father and daughter then carefully opened the door, quietly walking inside. The little boy was peacefully sleeping albeit the position of his body which looked a lot like a starfish, with his blankets thrown to the side. Nari lets out a quiet giggle, whispering “ silly Junnie ” against her father’s neck after noticing what her little brother looked like on his bed. Namjoon chuckles along, before putting her back on the floor though Nari was a bit reluctant at first. Soon after, he turned on the lights and this caused Hyejun to stir in his bed.

“Daddy, can I wake him up?” Namjoon nods, and so Nari makes her way onto his bed. He doesn’t know what she’ll do to wake him up exactly but when she started to lay next to him and began to cuddle him, it all just reminded him of how Hoseok would wake Taehyung up back when they went on a vacation together all those years ago. It was very remnant of it and it was possibly the cutest sight to see that morning.

“Hyjuuuniiie, wake upppp! It's Papa's birthday!! Wake up!!” Nari whispers very closely to Hyejun’s ear, tickling him in the process, even shaking him just a little. It was quite comical to see from Namjoon’s standpoint, but by doing that, Hyejun does seem to wake up and even groans out a “ Noona, please” at Nari’s antics. Nari seemed to have planned it out, laughing and seemed to enjoy it. It was such a sibling dynamic but it worked to get Hyejun to wake up.

“Morning, baby. Ready to greet the day and prepare for Papa’s birthday?” Namjoon sits himself down at the edge of the bed with Nari crawling back to her where he is at. Hyejun, who was still a bit disorientated, looking cute as ever with strands of his hair sticking out, sits up and lets out a cute little yawn while nodding his head. His father smiles at him, absolutely endeared and melting at the sight, ruffles the little boy’s hair lovingly, before fixing it nicely and kissing his cheek.

It was already a good start of the morning to a better day ahead.

♡

Seokjin wakes up to the smell of his favorite coffee brewing and the not so hushed sounds coming from the kitchen. He can hear the clink and clatter of pots and pans, plates and bowls but what makes him smile is hearing the soft giggles. He can already picture just how messy his kitchen has gotten but Seokjin’s too fond of thinking about his babies to even be bothered by it. So just for a moment, Seokjin stays in bed getting lulled by the sounds outside his door and to the thought of his family having the best time.

Soon after that, Seokjin decides that he should get out of bed and take a peek at what the three are exactly doing. So after removing the blankets off of him, and slipping back into his house slippers,  Seokjin begins to stretch his body as per his routine every morning. His bones ache a bit as he feels his age catch up with him but with moving his body that morning, Seokjin felt great doing it after. It was like any other morning, but all the same time, it feels different. With his mind finally getting rid of the morning residue, it clicks to him that today he’s a year older. A smile graces his lips for many reasons but most importantly, he’s grateful to have gained another year and for it to be spent with the people he loves most - his family.

Up next on his morning routine was to freshen up. So Seokjin  steps into their ensuite bathroom briefly, freshening himself up a bit before heading to the kitchen. Once he got there, just as he had imagined, his kitchen looked like a storm had hit it but Seokjin could care less for it at that moment. He stood there, leaned against the wall, and just looked at his family. They all had been focused on doing their tasks to even notice Seokjin standing a couple feet away. The three were all but too focused on pouring the pancake mix onto the pan, waiting for it to brown a little, flipping it on the other side and putting it on the plate.

It seems that the little ones are taking turns flipping the pancakes and pouring the mix all with the supervision of Namjoon of course. Nari seemed to be on pancake flipping duty while Hyejun was carefully pouring in the pancake mix.   There was a growing pile of pancakes already on the plate next to them. Seokjin stands there for a bit, just taking it all in, smiling to himself and in  absolute endearment at the sight before him. It actually surprises him that neither of them has noticed him yet but a part of him is thankful that they haven’t yet. It just makes it a bit extra special that Seokjin can only be the one looking into their little world. Soon enough, just as he was about to leave them be, before he heads back to their bedroom and goes back to bed, he hears a conversation between the three that has him stopping in his tracks.

“Daddy, do you think Papa will  like the pancakes we’re making for him?” Hyejun asks, there was a brief pause before he continues, “What if he doesn’t like them?”

“ Of course , he’s going to like them, silly! We made them, Junnie. Papa likes anything that we do. Right Daddy?” comes in Nari’s reply shortly after. Seokjin doesn’t get to see how their faces look, as he has his back turned away from them but if he knew his children, Hyejun would have been pouting and Nari would have been looking at their Daddy with the biggest smile and sparkle in her eyes because she knows she’s right. He hears Namjoon chuckle and Seokjin knows all too well that his husband’s dimples have popped up. He knows he can just turn around and actually see it happening, but Seokjin savors it without taking a look back.

“You are absolutely right, baby. Papa loves anything that you do and make  and he’s especially going to love these pancakes you made for him on his birthday. What made you suddenly think that he wont like it?”

“I don’t know..”

“Well, let me tell you something, my little love - Papa’s going to love these pancakes. You know why? Because his little stars have helped make it. Nari noona is right, Papa loves anything you do for him. So you don’t have to ever worry about him not liking anything you guys make, okay? Now how about you turn that frown upside down and we start decorating these pancakes so we can surprise Papa with it?”

With that, Seokjin felt like it was his cue to leave so he did. He quietly walked back to their room, feeling absolutely elated and in pure bliss. Oh man, did he love his family so much. They make everything worthwhile and Seokjin couldn’t have asked for a better start to his birthday than this.

When Namjoon, Nari and Hyejun had finally come into the room, Seokjin didn’t realize he fell back asleep until he was being gently shaken. He woke up a bit disorientated, confused for a second to exactly where he was - his mind barely catching back up to him. But as soon as  he heard the different melodies and keys of the loves of his life singing to him happy birthday with a stack full of pancakes decorated with all different sprinkles, whipped cream and other little edible decorations - Seokjin had finally come to his senses.

Ah, that’s right. It’s your birthday and they prepared all this for you, his mind supplies. It all just makes Seokjin smile from ear to ear, as he sits up feeling once again in pure bliss having to wake up to this.

Right as the three finished singing happy birthday, Nari had then come up to him, motioning him to bend down just a little. Before he knew it, a little sash was being placed over him and from the looks of it, decorated with their own drawings, glitters and other stickers, Seokjin knew this was done by his babies. It proved it more when he had looked down on it and saw the writing of Nari. It wasn’t perfect as she’s still getting the hang of writing herself but it was the thought that counts and Seokjin couldn’t have been any more happier to have read, “happy birthday papa!”.  Certainly, this was something he was going to keep forever.

Hyejun then comes up next to him, holding the plate of pancakes very carefully and hands it over to Seokjin. He carefully takes it from the little boy, smiling widely as they all are. The stack of pancakes looked like a sugar rush waiting to happen  but it all just made Seokjin very happy to have received it, especially since it was done by Nari  and Hyejun.

Namjoon then places an interesting looking candle and lights it up. Once it was lit up, it opened revealing more little candles and that too sang happy birthday. But that wasn’t even the surprising part of it, it was when Namjoon had initially lit it up, and a big flame had been set ablaze which caught him off guard. He wasn’t expecting it to do that and neither did the kids or Namjoon too. It was a bit of a funny surprise for all of them, all which were laughing and giggling at once. The big fire went out and the smaller candles began to lit up and the song played.

“Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday Dear Papa, Happy Birthday to you!” Nari and Hyejun had sung again, following the tune of the candles. Seokjin couldn’t stop smiling, his cheeks starting to hurt from smiling so much and so hard but it was all worth it.

This was all worth it just as they were.

“Make a wish, Charmander.”

For a brief moment, Seokjin had looked at his husband, gave him a bit of a pointed look after hearing him use an old nickname of his - though he wasn’t all mad about it. But as Nari and Hyejun were coaxing him into making a wish, Seokjin had closed his eyes and began to make a wish before blowing all the candles out. The plate of pancakes were taken out of his hands and soon enough, Seokjin was getting a handful of his little ones.

They all had showered him with kisses and hugs to which Seokjin felt smothered but in the best way possible.

“What did you wish for, Papa?”

“Nari bug, you just can’t ask what Papa wished for. Now his wish won’t come true!” Namjoon softly chides, though it was mostly playful. Nari then lets out a little gasp, her mouth forming a small o. Hyejun just looks at his older sister with wide eyes.

“Oh I’m sorry Papa, don’t answer it. Your wish won't come true if you did. I still hope your wish is going to come true.``

At this Seokjin lets out a hearty laugh, before he leans in and places a soft kiss on Nari’s cheek before moving onto Hyejun. “Don’t worry about it, baby. Daddy’s just being silly, but I’ll let you in on something. My wish already came true and so, I can share it with you.”

“Woah, really? It already came true, Papa? What was your wish?”

“I wished for all of us to always be happy and together. For us to enjoy many more birthdays. That was my wish and it already has come true. You’re happy that we’re together, right my little loves?” Nari and Hyejun nod excitedly, Seokjin then boops their cute little button noses before proceeding to saying, “Then that’s all that matters for me.”

And it was true, their happiness was all that matters for him and Seokjin wished for that to always be the case - for his little loves to be happy whether they are together or not. He wants his Nari and Hyejun to always be happy just as he wishes for him and Namjoon to be just that too.

♡

Throughout the whole day, Namjoon had made sure that it was all about Seokjin and what he wanted to do. It was his day and he wanted his husband to have the best day possible and so, they had done just that. Whatever Seokjin had wanted to do, they did. As the morning was a success and seeing Seokjin’s reaction to it had just been so satisfying and worth it, Namjoon was determined to make everything just as a success. And it was. Seokjin had enjoyed his time during various activities just as the kids did - though for the most part, it was catering to what they wanted to do as well.

“Okay, but seriously love.  What is one thing that you want to do today that you solely want? Something that the kids can’t be part of - just something for you.” Namjoon asked as they were finally having some quiet time by themselves. Their quiet time means that the kids were off doing something and in this case, they were playing on the playground and the two adults were sitting on a bench looking after them. It’s getting a bit chilly, with winter just right around the corner but luckily, even with the slight pick up of the wind, the sun has come out and it wasn’t too cold for them to be outside.

Seokjin seems to think about it deeply, going by how silent he was and how he was staring out in the open (well, more like at the kids) but he eventually did open his mouth and what he had said, just made Namjoon roll his eyes just a bit.

“Come on love, there’s got to be something that you want to do that’s just all for you. I’m not letting this day end without you doing something.”

Seokjin giggles, “You really want me to do something just for me? You’re so cute, Joonie.”

Namjoon lets out a huff, feeling a bit exasperated. “Yes, because you deserve it. Now come on, get out with it. I know there’s something that you want to do that doesn’t include the kids.”

“Well, there is one thing but I don’t know. It’s a little embarrassing to say.”

“Love, whatever it is, you don’t need to be embarrassed about it. It’s just me you’re talking to.” Namjoon’s eyes soften, reaching out to hold the other’s hand while giving it a squeeze of assurance.

“I know,  but it’s still embarrassing for me to even say it out loud. Especially when we're in such an open space and there’s kids and parents around us.” Seokjin looked around, and sure enough there was a couple just a few feet away from them and kids running around. Namjoon’s interest has just piqued higher upon hearing this and he’s now more curious than ever to find just exactly what it could be. And so just like that, Seokjin’s ears turn a light shade of red and Namjoon’s curiosity gets the best of him.

“Ooh. Oh, I think I know what you’re talking about now.”

Seokjin just cocks a brow at him, allowing him to continue and elaborate.

“Does it have to do with us being in the bedroom and you know s-e-x?” Namjoon spells out, and it just has Seokjin in a bit of a panic - what if the other parents heard? So he slaps Namjoon’s chest to which the other just yelps and says, “Well? Is that it?”

“ Joonie,”  Seokjin warns, but more like whines.

Feigning for innocence, Namjoon just stares at his husband a bit wide eyed and looking surprised. “What, what did I do wrong? It’s not like the kids can understand me or hear me for that matter.”

Seokjin groans, “ The parents, Joon! The other parents! What if the other  parents heard you? Oh god,”

“So what, we’re all adults here. It’s nothing like they’ve haven’t heard before, babe.” Seokjin gives him a pointed look, and Namjoon backs down just a bit. “Okay sorry sorry. But can’t you at least tell me if it's that? We’ll talk more about it later, sure but  I just gotta know. To prepare, you know?”

“ Fine , it is that. Happy? All I’m gonna say is that it's requiring us to be more…how should I say… adventurous again. Think what you want with that.”

So Namjoon does think on it, his mind goes back to the days where they had been very adventurous in their sex life but that seemed like a whole lifetime ago. That was back when there were no kids or other responsibilities they had to deal with, times have certainly changed and so have their dynamics. But even if they’re not adventurous as they once were, intimacy between them was still just as exciting albeit more toned down and vanilla. Nothing’s wrong with that, but perhaps a bit of spice would be nice and just what Seokjin had truly wanted. So, Namjoon will see it to its success and give his husband just what he deserves.

“So, how adventurous are we talking about here? Like Hawaii adventurous - you know that time at the Luau, where I su-” Before Namjoon could even finish his sentence, Seokjin’s finger is on his lips - shushing him.

“Kim Namjoon, if you finish that sentence, I swear to God, you won’t be getting any - adventurous or not.”

Namjoon opens his mouth, and only  closes it shortly after. When Seokjin removes his finger, he mumbles out a quiet, “yes dear” just as the other hits him with a sweet smile.

“Good boy, just be patient. You can do that for me, right?”

Namjoon nods. This has only gotten his curiosity higher and he might have felt something down there twitch at the commanding yet soft voice of his husband. Oh, he’s down bad.  But before Namjoon can dwell on the thought more and before he actually gives himself a hard-on, Hyejun comes in time saving him as he says to him that  he has to go potty.

On their way to the little gentleman’s room, Namjoon thinks of all the different adventurous things that Seokjin wants to try out. Ultimately, he decides to just wait it out and be the good boy that he is and be patient. He doesn’t have to wait that long anyways because soon enough, they’ll have to leave to go to the restaurant that they’ll be meeting up at for Seokjin’s birthday dinner and soon after that, they can just do whatever his husband has in mind.

It was so close yet so far but for now, Namjoon was looking forward to the birthday dinner and how fun it will be to see everyone again.

♡

As the time for the birthday dinner rolled around, the family of four arrived first to the place they had all agreed to meet at, got a table to sit at and as they wait for the others to arrive, Nari said she had to go potty and Hyejun said he wants to wash his hands. Namjoon takes them both, leaving Seokjin to his devices. Of course, as it was his birthday, it went without saying that the dinner was to be held at one of his favorite restaurants. It was a bit of a hole in the wall - not a lot of people know about it, but the food and service was just as good. Seokjin decided to go there because not only was the food and service were, in his humble opinion, one of the best of the best, but Dynamite also held a bit of sentimental value.

It was the restaurant that the seven of them heavily frequented during their college days when they wanted to get away from university. A lot of late nights after classes and studying - it was with good company,  lots of memories created and funnily, it was the place that Namjoon had first asked Seokjin to marry him. It was quite a funny memory and he teases Namjoon about it  because he didn’t remember ever asking that as he was absolutely wasted. But that was a  story for another time, and just when Seokjin goes deeper in his memory bank as he looks around the place, Yoongi and Hobi arrive.

“Jjwan, happy birthday bro!” Hoseok immediately begins making kissy faces once he’s close enough to Seokjin, which the older just reciprocates all the same. But eventually a kiss does land on his cheek as arms begin to enclose around him too.

“Ah, Jjwehope, thank you. '' Seokjin touches the cheek that’s been kissed, smiling widely as he does so, and of course his ears the back of his neck turning a light shade of pinkish red. Yoongi then greets him in his own Yoongi way before handing him a wrapped  gift box.

“ Yah ..what is this?” Seokjin stares at the two, surprised all while giving them both a pointed look - like without him saying that they didn’t have to.

“Obviously, it’s a gift.” Yoongi says nonchalantly, and Hobi just hits him on the arm which makes the shorter one yelp a bit, giving his husband a bit of a side eye all while saying,  “What he means to say is  that, it's a gift for you, our beloved hyung. I know what you’re going to say, that we didn’t have to, but we wanted to, so just take it okay?”

And just as Seokjin was going to say something more, Nari and Hyejun came running towards their table, screaming excitedly, “Uncle Hobi!” “Uncle Yoonie!”. The two said adults look past Seokjin and see the little ones running with the biggest smile on their faces which they also mirror all the same. Nari and Hyejun both crash into them, hugging onto their legs and looking up at them with excited and anticipating eyes. Yoongi and Hoseok take a kid each - Hoseok with Nari and Yoongi with Hyejun, lifting them up to be carried, and showering them with all the kisses and hugs.

“You came! You came!” the little ones exclaim, hugging their uncles as tight as they could while being carried. Neither Hoseok or Yoongi minded how tight their necks were being hugged - this was a moment to be cherished and they’ll be damned if they don’t indulge in it.

“Of course, we didn’t want to miss it. Isn’t Papa’s birthday so special? We all get to see each other! ” Hoseok says, smiling as he looks both at the babies and briefly glancing at Seokjin then to Namjoon.  Nari and Hyejun nod their heads excitedly, to which the little girl adds, “It’s the best! Thank you for coming and for loving Papa.”

The adults are very much cooing at their cuteness, and can't help but all feel a bit emotional  especially Seokjin after hearing that from his little girl. When Jimin, Taehyung and Jungkook also joined them, it was an even more joyous occasion and the little ones were just as excited to see their other uncles. It had only gotten twice as loud with the addition to their party and Seokjin’s heart can only soar and be filled with absolute happiness and love as the little dinner party goes on.

Little Hyejun who had requested for all his uncles to join them on this birthday dinner was also absolutely over the moon with all the attention and love  his Uncle Yoonie, Hobi, Mimi, Tete and Koo were giving him and of course, his big sister too. He was constantly smiling or laughing and he was very happy too to see his Papa also smile just as big and laugh as loud.

If he was to make his own wish for his Papa’s birthday, he wishes that his Papa would always be this happy. Though little Hyejun thinks that if they’re all together like this, then he doesn’t have to worry about it.

So as the dinner went on, and when Seokjin had least expected it, Jungkook and Hoseok had come back to the table after excusing themselves, with a cake and its candles already lit. The cake was a chocolate cake with chocolate hearts and for their added touch to it, there was a photo of Seokjin right in the center of it, along with a small heart shaped candle. Hoseok had been the first one to break into singing Happy Birthday, even placing a small birthday hat on him as everyone else followed suit in singing and began to gather where Seokjin was sitting.

Seokjin didn’t think he’d still be receiving a personalized cake  and get sung to by his friends at this age but it wasn’t like he was complaining. He absolutely loved and appreciated the efforts that Jungkook and Hoseok had done. More than that, it was extra special because it was really a surprise for Seokjin. He didn’t expect it at all as right before the two came with the cake, he was busy wiping Hyejun’s face.

“Happy Birthday to you, dear Kim Seokjin, happy birthday to you!” Just as they finish singing, Jimin then cups his face, squishing his cheeks together all the while smiling just as Namjoon then too squishes his cheeks all in the same manner. Taehyung joins in on it, while Jungkook hands over the cake, while everyone, especially his husband, coos over how cute he looks with the birthday hat and cake.

“Okay! Blow out your candles!” Jungkook says, with Namjoon adding, “Make a wish!” and so Seokjin holds the cake closer to him, he leans in, closes his eyes and makes his wish. Once the candles were blown out, claps resonated throughout just as Nari and Hyejun erupted into the loudest cheers.

“Happy Birthday Papa! I  love you the most! ”

“I love you sooo much. Thank you for being born and becoming our Papa.”

And at that, if Seokjin didn’t think he’d get emotional and tear up at any moment  of their dinner, clearly he didn’t factor in that his little girl wasn’t so little anymore and that Nari can just be quite the sweet talker.

“Oh my little love, thank you for choosing me to be your Papa.” Seokjin says, looking softly with all the adoration and love for his two angels. Namjoon, much like everyone else, also looked at the little ones with the same softness and adoration and love. Moments like that, Seokjin truly feels rewarded as a parent and for that, he cherishes it forever.

“Hyung, we’re all you’ve got, right?” Jimin smiling, teasing the older just a bit but Seokjin takes it a bit seriously and says with the biggest smile on his face,

“Yeah, you guys are all I got. I’m thankful.”

And with that, Seokjin truly meant it.

♡

On their way home from the birthday dinner, they all said their goodbyes with a promise of seeing each other again very soon. Nari and Hyejun were a bit sad to have left their uncles and go on their separate ways but their Uncle Yoonie had said that they’ll all have fun together again very soon and if he says it, the little ones know it will come true so with that, their worries were laid to rest.

So on the car ride home, Nari and Hyejun couldn’t stop talking about how fun the day had been, and were already planning what they’re gonna do if they’re all together again. And in the midst of their rambling and talks, Namjoon had slipped into their chatter,  saying something about the little gifts that they had prepared for their Papa.

“Did I hear that right? My little loves have gifts prepared for me?” Seokjin asks, to which Nari and Hyejun begin to excitedly talk about.

“Mhm! It’s waiting for you at home. Daddy said he has one for you too, but we can’t know it yet. Says it's for you to know first.”

At this, Seokjin raises a brow at his husband, “Does he now? Huh I wonder what it could be.” It was meant as a tease and Namjoon just chuckles at it, eyes focusing on the road as he drives. Soon enough, they finally do reach home and once they step inside their apartment, the littles immediately run to their rooms to get their little presents for their beloved Papa.

“Do you really have a gift for me, love?” Seokjin asks once the little ones have disappeared into their rooms, and though he was teasing his husband a bit in the car earlier, he was actually surprised at hearing it. They’ve gotten to that stage where gift giving - at least with materialistic things - weren’t needed anymore as the value of being with each other means so much more. But of course, leave it to Namjoon to have the craziest and yet loveliest surprises for Seokjin.

“I do, in fact, but it has to wait. Maybe I’ll give it to you when we get adventurous later tonight.” Now Namjoon’s the one teasing him which just makes Seokjin flush in color red.

“ Yah, Kim Namjoon! ”

Smoothly, Namjoon wraps his arms around Seokjin’s waist without him realizing and wastes no time in pulling him closer for a kiss. It was a sweet kiss at first, nothing too bad and well, explicit as the kids weren’t fully asleep nor were they fully gone out of their sight, but kissing for them has always been intoxicating and once they’ve got a taste, they just can’t back out immediately.

So while the kids were still looking for their gifts, Namjoon and Seokjin  indulge themselves a bit, getting intoxicated by the tastes of their lips on each other.

“You can wait until then, right love? Be a good boy like me and we’ll both get our prizes in the end, yeah?” Namjoon whispers quite seductively, nibbling at the plushness of  Seokjin’s lips, which the other slightly opens and Namjoon took that as an invitation to enter - so he did. They know they shouldn’t be getting this heated, not when any moment the kids can come back, but old habits die hard and well, maybe being adventurous can start now.

Seokjin tries his best, holding an ungodly sound inside of him because surely, if he lets it out, the kids will definitely come back out and well, for once, he wants to give himself and Namjoon this moment, for once. As hands start to roam elsewhere, it is then the familiar pitter patter of tiny feet resonate throughout and the two begin to pull apart. Though it seemed that they didn’t pull apart in time as a tiny cough is what truly breaks them apart.

“Daddy…Papa…please, we’re right here.” Nari says which immediately makes Seokjin push Namjoon away and of course, Seokjin starts to become red just as red as a tomato and Namjoon feels the same way.

“Well anyways! Here’s my gift for you, Papa!” Hyejun says, handing over a paper filled with a drawing and a little wooden heart that has been painted on. The drawing itself had already tugged on Seokjin’s heart strings as he made out the stick figures that little Hyejun drew was of them - their family - including them and the uncles.

“Oh my goodness, this is amazing, my love! Thank you! I love your arts and crafts. Can I hang this up on the fridge so I can always see it?” Seokjin asks the little boy which he just happily nods to. Next, Nari hands her gift over and it was also a craft but it was a bit more intricate one.

“His name is Kore. I drew him all by myself,  he’s a whale, and I hope you keep him with you all the time.” Nari explains, as Seokjin carefully holds the pottery in the same of the Kore that had drawn and painted all herself. It was so beautiful and a cute touch from his little girl and surely, he’ll protect it and cherish it forever.

“Wow, you did it all yourself? I'm so proud of you, baby. Of course, I’ll keep him and how about this, I put your Kore and Hyejunnie’s wooden heart on the lampside table next to my bed so that I’ll always have a piece of you both to protect me with every time I go to bed?”

“To protect you? From what?” Hyejun asks curiously, titling his head

“Well you know how you get those scary dreams sometimes? Well I do too but I’m going to keep these next to me so I’ll feel extra safe” Seokjin explains and this has them both in a bit of an awe while Namjoon watches this whole interaction with a smirk but was just as fond and endeared.

♡

“Did you have a good birthday, love?” Namjoon asks while giving a  massage to his husband, soothing his aching muscles. Now that the little ones were down for the night and out for the count, the two were alone in the comforts of their own bedroom. Seokjin, who was faced down on their bed, lets out a muffled hum, already melting in the hands of his husband.

“The best, it was the best. Thank you love, I had the best time and it was all thanks to you. Thank you for coordinating everything. I had a great day today.” Seokjin turns his head to the right, saying it so his voice can be heard loud and clear. Namjoon continues to work his magic on him, deliberately and skillfully working through the kinks out of Seokjin’s shoulders and back.

“It’s what you deserve, baby.” Namjoon says, purposely saying it in an octave lower, as he massages over a certain kink on Seokjin’s lower back, which just emits a moan out of Seokjin which he smirks at.

“Oooh my God, Joon, right there, oh my god, yes -” Seokjin moans a bit too sensually.

 “Yeah? Do you like that?”

“ Fuck , yes. Keep going.”

So Namjoon continues all the while his husband moans at the pleasure of his hands working on massaging his body. It’s quite erotic, a bit different but Namjoon thinks it’s the right leeway to him asking about that adventorous thing that Seokjin had mentioned earlier on the day.

“So..that adventurous thing you were talking about, what is it?”

Seokjin lets out a hum, “Ah, that..”

“Yes, that . Come on, love. Tell me what it is and I’ll grant it. Your wish is my command, Captain.”

“Ah, it’s still embarrassing to say.” Namjoon stops what he is doing and asks Seokjin to sit up properly on their bed now. He gets a good look on his husband, he’s a bit flushed, biting his lips which was a bit of telltale sign that he was really quite embarrassed to say it.

“It’s just me, baby. There’s no one else around, it’s just you and I. You don’t have to be embarrassed. So tell me, what do you want?”

Seokjin bites his lips, staring at him as he does so. It was innocent yet there was an underlying hint of sultry and a bit of lust in it. Oh , Namjoon’s definitely about to be in for a treat for sure.

“I want..I want you to tell me what your gift is for me first and then, I’ll say mine.” Of course, it wouldn’t be that easy with Seokjin but Namjoon can work with that. He doesn’t say anything further, Namjoon just  gets up from their bed and gets his laptop. He props it open, types in his password and looked around his files until he found the one he was looking for.

“I was clearing some things out of my hard drive and I stumbled upon something. It’s quite old, an old melody I was playing around with back then, back when I was doing music and well, one thing led to another and I thought it would be great for you to hear it in its complete form. No one has ever heard it before, well aside from my friend that let me borrow his stuff, but essentially, no one else  has and you’ll be the first,”

“You’ve always been my muse, and you still are even if I’m not making music anymore. So, I recorded this again and tweaked a few things, but yeah, this is a song made especially for you. Inspired by you. ”

And so, Namjoon clicked play and as the melody started to play and the lyrics flowed, Seokjin was brought into many different emotions. Mainly from happiness, love and adoration for the man he gets to call his husband. He’s so lucky to have this beautiful man and even luckier to her to get to him “mine.” The song was so beautiful, it was perfect in every way and Seokjin can’t believe that Namjoon had a song written about him for so long, but he thinks, nothing can ever top that moment.

When the song ends, Seokjin is tearing up and Namjoon tries to console him, saying the sweetest of words to him, and in the end, it gets a smile out of the other, even garnering a laugh.

“Now that just makes what I was going to say really embarrassing,” Seokjin wipes his eyes, obviously teasing as he says those words.

Namjoon laughs at this, “Oh come on, love. It can’t be that embarrassing. What is it that you want?”

“Iwantedtotrybondageonyou” Seokjin says all too fast, too fast that Namjoon could barely pick out the words that he was trying to say. At this point, Seokjin was already turning red by even saying it.

“What? What did you say? Slow down, baby.  I couldn’t understand you.”

“God, you’re really going to make me say it? Fine , but like I sad it’s more embarrassing  to say it now  that you’ve made a song for me, oh god”

“I’m sure it’s still not that bad —” And just as Namjoon was going to finish his sentence, Seokjin beat him to it.

“I wanted to try bondage with you, like you know tie you up on our bed and have my way with you — all that jazz, but now that’s just embarrassing when you literally wrote me a whole fucking love song, oh my god” Seokjin doesn’t know what to do with himself, but maybe flung himself out out the window is the best option. But bless Namjoon, he doesn’t judge or gives you a certain look but he takes it in, process it just a bit and say what’s on his mind,

“Oh, no hey, if you really want to do that, then yeah, tie me up baby, have your way, let me be good for you, do you want that?”

“You’re teasing me, Joon-ah.”

But Namjoon’s all but joking — he’s serious, “I’m not, I’m really not, love. Like I said, your wish is my command.”

Seokjin softens, lets out a sigh, “but we don’t have the right things. I want to do it right, I want to make you feel good. Just like how you’ve always made me feel”

“Then we can wait, we can wait until we have all the right things. You’ll steer the ship and I’ll just help you guide it. How about that, Charmander?” Namjoon compensates, giving his husband an assuring smile. It takes a little bit of lovin’ but Seokjin’s then smiling and for what’s it worth, that was all that matters.

“Okay, we can do that. Yeah, let’s do that.”

“Good, now how about for now, while we wait for that to happen, how about I make you feel good tonight, birthday boy?” Just as Namjoon begins to fiddle with Seokjin’s pants. At one point, their lips do finally meet again, and begin to taste each other once more — This time they don’t have to worry about stopping because they have all night long.

And if you were to ask Seokjin, this was one of the best birthdays yet.
