Work Text:
I wouldn’t have had it any other way, were the words Gwen Stacy would have said if she'd had any left. Spirits are strong, especially when they’re in love, and when they’re loved by someone, they have so much left to say.
Peter is cradling her head, and he’s begging her to stay. If she could have crawled back into her body and made it work again, he would have left her. He would have left with a father’s wise words in his head instead of his heart.
But since she is the one who must leave him, it can only be chalked up to fate. Because of her own volition, she would never have parted from him. Love is an action, and sometimes, the action is sacrifice.
Though her soul has passed and her body will decay, this truth hasn’t. If it was either a life without loving Peter Parker, or no life at all, she wouldn’t have had it any other way.
