Chapter Text
"It looks like it's going to rain." (name) thought to themselves.
It wasn't a particularly cloudy day, but even so, the air was heavy, and (name) was right. Their prediction was confirmed by their weather app.
"Then, at least it'll be easier to breathe."
Continuing to walk through the busy streets of their city, (name) looked around, trying to find something that looked interesting. The walk to their tutor's house wasn't very long, but it was monotonous. They had to walk past the dull, gray city centre.
The city centre wasn't full of people today, probably because of the heavy, stale air that was lingering around the city, like it was sending a signal for rain. That made the walk to (name)'s tutor better, since they didn't really like crowded places, especially walking through groups of people that would stand on the street.
(name) sped up their walking pace a little. They were getting tired of the grey, melancholic town atmosphere. (name)'s eyes observed their surroundings: tall buildings grew on both sides of the currently empty street, which was lined with trees. Every one of those buildings had a dozen of windows that reflected sun rays in every possible direction. (name) always wondered how would it be, living in a building as huge as those around them. As (name) was admiring the large buildings in front of them, they were getting close to the building their tutor lived in.
They didn't really need a tutor because they had bad grades. ((name) was actually a college student that had surprisingly good grades.) In one of their biochemistry classes, a certain topic sparked their interest, and they were going to ask their tutor to explain it in depth.
"Ah... I'm finally here." (name) said after walking to an apartment complex.
The apartment complex wasn't a large, tall building like all the other ones surrounding it. It had four floors, and (name)'s tutor lived on the fourth one. (name) was just going to open the apartment complexes door, and when they tried to, the door wouldn't open.
"The door must be locked. I'll call my tutor, ms. Ishida, and ask her if she could unlock it."
It wasn't a rare thing to find locked doors like that. People that lived in a building together usually didn't want any intruders, so they would lock their building door. The door could generally be opened remotely from an apartment in the building, or with a key. While (name) was waiting for ms. Ishida, their tutor, to answer the call, they looked around once more. What caught their attention this time was the change in the sky. Big, gray clouds full of rain appeared. The clouds were threatening to drop the delicate raindrops they were so carefully holding, just like (name) predicted.
(name) heard a sound from their phone speaker. Ms. Ishida answered (name)'s call.
"Hello, this is Ishida speaking. Who is this?"
"Hi. It's (name). I'm sorry for bothering but... I'm currently standing in front of your building and the enterance door is locked. Could you please unlock it?"
"Oh, yes, of course. I'm waiting for you in the apartment, mx. (name)."
"Thank you, I'm on my way there."
A faint beep sound came from the enterance door. Ms. Ishida remotely opened the door so (name) could enter. As they were entering the building, they looked at the sky once again. If only they knew what was about to happen, they would at least stop to appreciate the fresh air and the sky they weren't going to see for a long time, or even never again.
(name) entered the building and shut the door behind them. The only thing left to do was to set foot in the elevator so they could finally get to the fourth floor.
The elevator was kind of old, and (name) had to wait a little before it arrived. When it eventually did, they got on and pressed the button with a red number four on it.
The atmosphere inside the elevator was suffocating. (name) could feel the heaviness of their bag, inside they held various books that covered the topic they wanted to ask ms. Ishida about. They could also feel their clothes uncomfortably sticking to their body. The ride to the fourth floor was gloomy and boring. (name) was getting dizzy from the heavy elevator air, they were slowly starting to sweat too. When the elevator arrived to the fourth floor, (name) was relieved that they could exit this small space, but fate had some other plans.
The lights suddenly went off, and (name) could hear several sounds, one of them being light scratching on the metal the elevator was made from. Some footsteps were also heard.
(name) didn't get that scared, the lights going out only made them more aware of their surroundings. They grabbed their phone so they can call ms. Ishida, in hopes she would call the housekeeper to fix the broken elevator. But just as they were pressing the call button, two arms extended towards them, trying to get hold of their body. (name) moved to the side, dodging the arms.
"What the-" (name) didn't even get to finish their thought, when even more strong arms grabbed their body. Surely, whoever that was had no good intentions.
(name) struggled to escape, but somebody's arms held onto them so tightly (name) couldn't escape their grip. In a matter of seconds, they couldn't move anymore and were being dragged from the elevator, to God knows where.
Their consciousness was slowly fading, everything around them was slowly being consumed in darkness. (name) gave up on trying to free themselves, they closed their eyes and fell into a deep slumber.
