Work Text:
The full moon rose high and the stars shone brightly from above. The rustle of the wind brought calmness to the night.
Satoru looked over at Utahime .
She was beautiful, Her soft, black hair played around her serene face, just inches from his fingertips. Her eyes were the color of the honey he loved as they sparkled when she smiled, like she was doing now, and he could see the moonlight reflected in them.
He wondered what she was thinking, and he waited patiently as they stood there in silence, looking up at the sky, his hand moving nearer and nearer hers, grabbing her hand as they intertwined their fingers. Utahime scooted closer to him, skin finally coming into contact, breathing in the musky forest scent that he carried. Side by side accompanied by the cool night air and the crickets chorusing in the background.
Finally, Utahime spoke. "The moon and stars are so pretty. " She tilted her head. "I wonder how they're connected."
It took him a while to find his voice. clearing his throat. "They are connected the way they are now."
"Really?" Utahime peered curiously at him.
"How?"
"Here." he took her hand and guided her so that her finger moved from star to star. Together, they traced a path made by three stars.
"What was that?"
"That was the constellation called Orion's Belt."
"Orion's Belt?" Utahime asked, genuine curiosity in her voice.
"Uh-huh. Orion was a great hunter, and he was in love with a beautiful princess. He loved her so much, he fought off all the beasts and monsters on the island she lived in. He became a hero. They were going to be married, but one day, something happened, Orion lost control of himself and hurt the princess. When he got his eyesight back, he went back to the girl he loved and they lived happily together. When he died, the gods placed him on the sky as a constellation."
"Wow..."
Utahime turned to him with a sweet smile. Then she leaned over and pressed her lips to his cheek. "Thank you for sharing it with me, Satoru."
"I wanna share this with you, you know?"
Utahime closed her eyes, still smiling and said. "I like to gaze at the moon and stars because they remind me of you."
silently the cool breeze passed by.
Satoru closed his eyes as well, falling easily into the moment while murmuring, "How?"
"Because no matter how dark my world may be, you always seem to light things up for me
because they remind me of you."
Opening her eyes Utahime give him a small smile and hold onto his hand, caressing his knuckles gently. then her arms crept up Satoru's back and wrapped themselves around his neck. She buried one of her hands in his hair; the other hand caressing his shoulder.
"You're so beautiful" he murmured quietly before his lips met her own.
She felt Satoru's lips curl into a smile against her own. She heard him chuckle softly before deepening the kiss. His hands rose from resting on her waist so that they wrapped around her, holding her against him tightly.
They stayed there, outside kissing under the moonlight.
Satoru drew away long enough to gaze into her eyes.
"The moon is beautiful, isn't it?" he quietly asked. His bright blue eyes shined in the moonlight.
Utahime was a bit surprised by his question, but realized it immediately. Smiling, she laid her head on his shoulder, warmth filling her heart.
"Yes, I wish I could watch it with you forever."
The moonlight fell across the place, just the two of them bask in their love under the stars.
He stretched out a hand and let it run across the smooth, pale skin of her cheek.
"Thank you."
She stared into his eyes for a long moment, then smiled and kissed his cheek just as she had done all those years ago.
“Can we stay like this for a bit longer?
Gojo nods before smiling, “Hmmm,” he hummed, then stares at the woman holding his heart on hers as he turned to face the moon.
Maybe, Satoru thought... like Orion and his princess, he and Utahime could have their own happy ending.
And the moon above them, was there to witness it.
....
