“When is Chenle getting here?” Jeno questions out loud as he sets the table, “Jaemin just finished cooking.”
Jisung looks up from his phone where he had been texting his best friend, “he should be here in the next couple of minutes.”
Jeno nods as he goes back to placing the bowls on the table, leaving shortly after to wake the rest of the members. Renjun stumbles out first, followed closely by Mark and Shotaro. The rest of them take different amounts of time to wake up and wash up for lunch, and by the time they’re all ready, Chenle is already sitting at the table waiting patiently.
“Merry Christmas,” Jeno cheers joyfully and they all respond with varying degrees of excitement and then dig into their lunch.
Some members outwardly compliment Jaemin’s cooking, whilst others make noises of approval and agreement. They eat quickly, and the plates are completely clear when they decide on rock, paper, scissors to determine who will clear the table and who will wash the dishes.
Donghyuck and Jisung, ever the unlucky pair, end up losing and argue amongst themselves on how to split the tasks whilst the rest move into the living room, relaxing a bit before they would be exchanging presents.
Jeno drapes himself over Jaemin, blushing a deep red when he leans down to kiss him softly. None of the other members pay any mind, tending to their own conversations and activities, but Jeno still gets embarrassed when faced with such public affection.
Jaemin smiles, pinching Jeno’s cheeks and cooing at his adorable behaviour before turning his attention to his phone, letting Jeno play with his fingers as he scrolled through instagram.
Jeno is almost lulled to sleep by Jaemin’s warmth when Donghyuck and Jisung make their presence known. They complain as they sidle up next to other members, still annoyed that they had lost.
Jeno jumps up from Jaemin’s lap when he realises what that meant, grabbing a bag full of gifts he had been preparing for the last month and a half. The other members follow his actions, retrieving their own gifts and distributing them until each member has a decently sized pile of gifts.
They all make remarks and thank each other as they open their gifts. Jeno is like an eager puppy as he opens them, pouting when he notices Jaemin capturing the moment on camera, but smiles when he sees the fond look on his boyfriend’s face.
They put their gifts away when they’re done, and venture back to the living room. Jeno helps Shotaro and Mark to clear up the mess of wrapping paper and gift tags whilst the rest relax, Renjun busy in the kitchen making a range of tea, coffee and hot chocolate.
It only takes a short while to clean the room up, and soon enough Renjun is making his way back, carrying a tray full of hot drinks. Sungchan runs into the kitchen and comes back with the ones Renjun couldn’t fit on the tray.
They turn the lights off, and the room is illuminated by the soft, warm glow of the Christmas lights lining the walls of the room. They play cheesy Christmas movies as they all cuddle up together, and Jeno can’t help but be drawn to the tree in the corner, twinkling brightly in the dark.
After the first three movies some of the members started to get sleepy, Jeno included. He had been so excited for Christmas that he had woken up way earlier than he should have, and was now dealing with the consequences.
He finds himself dozing off through the fourth film of the marathon so he curls up between Jaemin and Jisung, resting his head on Jaemin’s chest, as Jisung lays his own head on Jeno’s shoulder.
He’s fast asleep by the end of the film, and Jaemin looks down fondly, bringing his hand up to stroke through Jeno’s hair.
“Merry Christmas,” he whispers into his boyfriend’s hair softly, closing his eyes and following Jeno into dreamland.
