Chapter 1: The Sun Shall Fall
Summary:
Apollo falls into the void of Chaos. He unexpectedly wakes up.
Chapter Text
Apollo was given a choice.
He could either choose to hold onto the lesson, or the rock.
He should have chosen the rock.
He could slowly feel himself fade away as he fell into the sea.
The Sea of Chaos.
The sea in which all life began, the sea in which a single being such as himself can be wiped away from existence. Down to the essence of his physical form to his very spirit.
The only thing he could feel was his skin burning away.
Everything burning away.
In all of his four-thousand six-hundred and thirteen years he's never felt such pain, not even as a mortal.
But just like that, he felt nothing.
Nothing but an inner peace within himself.
"Forgive me Meg," was the finale thoughts of the fallen Sun god.
And for one moment, the universe itself seemed to disappear.
----------------------------------------------------------
Apollo could feel pain all through out his body, as he awoke.
"An-ou-ht," he heard a voice but it was disoriented.
Despite the pain, Apollo found the strength to pull himself into a sitting position. His hearing suddenly came back, and his vision slightly less blurry.
"Young man are you alright?" asked a strange voice.
Apollo looked up to see an unfamiliar old lady kneeling beside him. Her hair a greying brown, and her amber eyes full of worry. She looked to be wearing scrubs.
"I-m," Apollo didn't realise how dry and hoarse his voice sounded.
"I'm calling an ambulance," she told him.
That snapped him out of any trance he was in.
"No!" He jumped up suddenly to his feet. That caused pain to shoot through his body. The old lady seemed slightly startled, she frowned at him.
"Young man, I'm not sure what happened to you, but you are clearly hurt." The old woman gently helped him steady himself. He felt pathetic, he was supposed to be a god again not a weaken mortal.
What happened? The last he remembered was the sea of Chaos. The reminder sent a cold feeling of fear through him. Hadn't he fallen into it?
"I'm fine really," he couldn't even convince himself. The old woman shook her head as if disappointed.
He had defeated Python hadn't he? Why was he still mortal? Perhaps Zues was still angry with him? Perhaps worse, it was Styx. Anger filled him at the first thought, a cold fear filled him from the second. The old woman seemed to mis-read his emotions.
"You young men and your pride, I've no idea what this world has come to." she shook her head again. "At least let me tend to your injuries, as a doctor I can't allow someone in your condition to just walk away, come." The old woman grabbed his wrist and pulled him.
"Ma'am I'm-" she cut him off.
"Shush! Now, I don't know what happened, but I will keep this discreet so long as you let me tend to your injuries." The old woman spoke like a mother.
Apollo just nodded and willing let the woman lead him away to wherever. He was still injured from his fight with Python, and his head felt fuzzy. At least he could figure out what was going on, and where he was.
Looking around Apollo suddenly realised where he was, he was yet again in an alleyway in New York (at least he hoped it was New York). He sighed he was tired of being mortal and waking up in alleyways confused. The old woman heard him and once again miss understood his thoughts.
"Now now, none of that," she scolded him.
She pulled him, and she kept her grip firm on his arm. Though, Apollo knew he could easily just shrug her off and loose her in the crowded streets. But he didn't, he allowed himself to be dragged through the crowds of people. Many of whom gave him both concerned and odd looks.
Finally they came to a stop across the street, the woman pulled out her keys to a side entrance of a building. As soon as they entered he noticed that the place seemed to be a part of clinic of some sort.
"Sit," she ordered him. He obeyed, because he hadn't noticed just how tired and sore he actually felt. "You may call me Laurel if you wish." She finally said her name as she grabbed a first aid kit.
Apollo wasn't quite sure how to explain it, but he got a familiar feeling. It was the old emotion he got when an event of the future would take place. It was something Meg and his children once described as a sixth sense or instinct. But to him it was a message from his abilities as a prophet. It was telling him to trust this woman.
He also liked her name, like the sacred tree Daphne had turned into.
"I'm Ap- Lester." He corrected himself realising he was still mortal. Though he was still quite relieved his Godly powers were still working, somewhat. He took it as a good sign.
"Good you remember your name," Laurel smiled as she began to apply rubbing alcohol to his cuts. He silently hissed at the sudden burning sting, while he did so Laurel looked closely at one of the cuts.
"This one needs stitches," she frowned and went to grab some more supplies. Apollo felt both a dreadful feeling and a familiar comfort that empowered him.
This was his domain, healing the injured. He could feel the power of it, a strange force it was. Healing was like performing an art, you go into a state almost like a trance as you would when you would draw, paint, or sing. The key to being the God of so many domains, was to think of them as both unique and the same.
Apollo didn't say anything, as the woman carefully stitched his cuts and cleaned them. As soon as she finished he couldn't help but be curious.
"Why are you helping me?" He asked. He found the entire situation quite strange. No mortal old woman would pull some random teen off the street just to stitch a few cuts for no reason.
Laurel gave him a sad smile, but she didn't answer. Instead she turned away from him and began to put away the supplies. It was almost as if she was hiding her face from him.
"Tell me Lester dear, how old are you?" She asked suddenly.
Apollo was surprised by the sudden question, why would she ask such a question? Mortals were still strange to him, Apollo quickly came up with an answer. Of course he couldn't tell her he was really 4,613, so he decided to give her his mortal age he and Meg had concluded.
"I'm...er 17 ma'am," he answered the woman seemed both shocked and satisfied with the answer. She then turned back to him, sadness in her eyes, she gave a small smile.
"I once had a grandchild who was younger than you, he was... a very special boy. It was just him and me after his parents passed from a rare ilness." She began her story. Apollo frowned seeing where the story was going.
"What happened to him?" He asked hesitantly.
"I was working late one night, I used to work at the hospital you see. My shift was about to end, when suddenly an ambulance came in." A tear began to appear in her eye.
"My poor Diego left me before I got to say goodbye, the worst part was I never knew what happened to him. Some say he was attacked by an animal others said it was a mugging." She looked Apollo in the eyes as she said this.
Now he understood, and he frowned.
"Now now, none of that. This happened many years ago, while it still haunts me I have dedicated my time to helping children and strange teenagers who refuse help even after they've been attacked." She gave him the scolding look.
"Thank you," Apollo said standing up.
"Wait just a moment, where do you think your going?" She said still giving him the scolding look.
"I have some friends who might be worried," Apollo revealed.
"Oh," she seemed surprised at this. Apollo was becoming quite suspicious of her, but his 'instincts' told him to trust her.
"I see, but I can't allow you to leave yet. I have a few friends who could escort you safely." Laurel suddenly became insistent. Like she knew something he didn't.
"Is something wrong?" Apollo frowned at her, he didn't know if he was in any danger.
He also lost the arrow of Dodona, after it had sacrificed itself. Apollo felt a hard hit of grief and sadness at the loss of the arrow that had guided him. He was now on his own, he didn't even know where Meg was.
Laurel seemed hesitant in answering him.
"Yes, actually." She seemed almost worried. "Your a lot different from the others, it's completely stronger then normal." She mumbled the last part to herself but Apollo heard her anyway.
"What do-" Apollo was interrupted as someone barged into the room in a state of panic.
"Laurel...pant we...pant chased by...pant by hellhounds..." A boy hurriedly spilled out.
Actually not a boy, a Satyr. Apollo recognized the particular Satyr as Grover Underwood, though Apollo noticed how particularly young he looked. Despite the age difference in humans and Satyrs, Apollo could easily tell his age. After all he was the one who brought the first satyr's to camp half-blood.
"Grover?" He asked, the Satyr looked at him for a second.
Then a second turned into a long awkward moment of Grover sniffing him.
"This one smells weird," he finally replied.
Apollo just blinked, what?
"You know this guy?" asked a boy behind him. Apollo could feel himself pale.
Before him, stood a much younger Percy Jackson then he had seen recently. The familiar feeling from before came back, and this time it told him Percy wasn't the same as before. He couldn't help him.
"Ummm...is he okay?" Younger Percy asked.
Apollo fell back into his seat, he felt as if he would be sick. Both fear and nausea filled his stomach. What in the name of Chaos was going on?
"Lester?" Laurel asked concerned.
Apollo didn't say anything, he just allowed himself a moment. One moment to fully process his situation.
He had defeated Python, and after that he was approached by Styx. The next thing he knew he was falling, into the Sea of Chaos. He was supposed to fade, he was supposed to be the first God to ever die by falling into the Sea of Chaos.
Yet, somehow he remained alive. Now alive with a younger Percy Jackson at his side.
"Lester!" Laurel was shouting at him now.
"What's going on?" Grover asked worried now.
"He's gone into a shock, Lester?" Laurel was carefully trying to get him to snap out of it.
"I'm...I'm fine, just confused." Apollo finally answered.
Chaos he was fucked.
A loud bang could be heard from the side of the building. They all jumped away from the wall in which the violent shaking had come from. Grover seemed to be slightly crying, and Laurel jumped in front of them all. All while opening a secret hatch and taking out two daggers.
"Percy get the sword!" Grover yelled through his tears as the wall dented in. Whatever was outside definitely wasn't just a hell hound.
Percy hurriedly grabbed a pen from his pocket, and before Apollo could comment it grew into the familiar looking sword. It was the famous Riptide.
Apollo stood in shock as the wall finally gave out, revealing the beast hunting them as the Chimera. A hideous monster with the front half of a lion, the backend of a Goat, and a snake as a tail. Percy looked at it horrified, the sword in his hand slightly shook.
The Chimera lunged at them, Apollo quickly jumped back barely avoiding being struck by the long snake it had for a tail. Laurel despite her age, easily dodged the claws of the Lion. Percy and Grover had quickly ducked under it, they were now behind the massive creature.
Apollo quickly looked around for a weapon, despite his luck he noticed Laurels secret hatch. In it, was a basic wooden Bow with various silver arrows. Quickly dodging the snake again, Apollo managed to reach it. He quickly grabbed the bow and a silver arrow.
Quickly arming the bow Apollo turned prepared to shoot. Only he noticed that the Chimera had ran towards Percy and Grover. They had ran out of the building through the big hole the beast had made. Laurel was on the ground, her clinic was now ruined and a mess.
"Di Immortals," Laurel mumbled as she ran after them.
As Apollo grabbed a quiver and a hand full of arrow, he ran after them. On the street he saw the mortals running and screaming. He wasn't quite sure what they were seeing but he figured it wasn't something good.
Percy quickly jumped on top of a car his sword raised, he didn't know what he was doing. Apollo figured this out as all the half-blood needed to do was to slice his blade through it. Apollo took his bow and aimed, just before he could take the shot the beast lunged for the younger Percy.
Apollo shot the arrow.
At this moment time seemed to slow down as the arrow flew, and the Chimera slowly about to claw at Percy.
The claws of the Chimera scratched Percy, but the arrow struck perfectly into the beasts eyes. In a flash of gold dust the beast disappeared, and Percy was left on top of the car his eyes still closed.
"Percy!" Apollo called out to him.
Percy opened his eyes, he carefully lifted two fingers to his face. He looked at them only to observe blood. He had been scratched on his cheek.
"Perce!" Grover jumped up and basically tackled his friend.
"Are you alright dear?" Laurel asked rushing to the two.
Apollo looked to the ground where the dust of the Chimera faded away into the earth. But there on the ground, was a tiny bottle. It was full of a green liquid, one that Apollo recognized. It was his trophy, the Venom of the Chimera's snake.
Apollo picked it up and observed it, it was a tiny vile, but he put it in his pocket for later. Just as he was about to turn to the others he found Grover beside him, way too close. Apollo flinched away.
"You smell different from the rest," Grover said continuing to sniff him.
"Umm...we should probably head to camp half-blood." Apollo was unsure what to do at this point. He would have to head to camp and figure it from there.
"Where?" Grover seemed confused.
"You know, camp? The place where Greek demigod's go. The place safe from monsters?" Apollo frowned.
Grover returned the frown, "There's no place safe for demigods, unless some of the girls choose to pledge their loyalty to one of the Virgin Goddesses. Or you pledge yourself to eternity to Tantalus's prison farm. "
Apollo was now confused and dangerously afraid of what he meant. "Do you mean Artemis's hunt?" He asked hoping perhaps his twin would help him figure things out.
"Don't say her name!" Percy panicked, reacting as if Apollo had just insulted Zeus himself.
"I'll explain later, but we need to leave I can smell more monsters coming." Grover suddenly paled.
"You have to get to a forest." Laurel warned them.
"We came from Long Island, we were hoping to avoid Tantalus and his 'offer,'" Percy shivered in disgust.
"You shouldn't have come here, you both know the gods are at war. The last thing we need is for Percy to be near the entrance of Olympus." Laurel glared at Grover. "You never were the best guardian Grover." she said this part coldly.
Apollo once again felt himself go into shock, but this time fear hit him so hard he could feel his blood go cold.
Grover looked to be on the verge of tears again, but Percy stood up for him.
"I wanted to see mom," Percy said. Laurel looked down in guilt and slight disappointment.
"You both know better, I know you miss her Percy dear, but you know the life of a demigod. Your particular situation is even worse, you'd just be putting her in too much danger Percy. What happened to me when Diego was... " Laurel trailed off.
Apollo felt himself wanting to collaspse, now with a moment to breathe he noticed how offal both Percy and Grover looked. Percy looked like he hadn't slept in days, both his and Grover's clothe's were covered in mud, dirt, and past stains. There was also tear's and rips in them, some shaped around injuries.
Apollo's mind suddenly exploded.
"What do you mean the gods are at war? And what are these options your talking about? What do you mean by no place is safe for demigods? What happened to camp half blood?" So many questions and not one answer.
What happened to him? Did he cause all of his? But why were Percy and Grover so young? More and more questions and still no answers.
"Calm down Lester dear, we know this can be overwhelming, but clearly you know some about demigods, Grover will explain everything in time. Not now you must leave." Laurel tried to calm him.
Apollo turned to see two hell hounds coming closer. He also took notice of three familiar creatures, the Furies. Alecto ("The Angry"), Megaera ("The Grudging") and Tisiphone ("The Avenger").
"Oh no," Percy summoned his word again. He looked at three furies in fear.
"You will suffer thief!" Shouted Alecto.
"You will be punished beyond your sins!" Shouted Tisiphone.
"The gods hatred will be mercy compared to your suffering thief!" Shouted Megaera.
Apollo looked at them, what did his uncle Hades want so badly that he had sent his three most loyal lieutenants after percy. Thief? What was that about.
Percy and Grover took off running, Laurel went behind them. Apollo though he quickly armed his bow and shot an arrow. He was lucky his godly archery was working somewhat. With the first arrow shot one of the hell hounds disappeared into golden light.
Apollo quickly armed his bow again, but he turned quickly to catch up with the other's. He didn't know what was going on, and they were his only hope in finding out.
As he ran to catch up with the other's he suddenly found that the others were surrounded by more hell hounds. He shot two more arrows at the hell hounds. He managed to get three with only two arrows, grabbing another arrow he shot and cleared the way of two more.
Percy managed to kill one, but Laurel and Grover barely managed to dodge another. Before they realised it, the four of them were passing by more screaming mortals. Apollo also noticed how they were being surrounded again, but this time there are two Cyclops. He couldn't help but wonder why so many monsters would be waiting in New York.
The four of them headed towards central park, once there Apollo could see Grover take out his hand pipes. Suddenly he stoped and waited, while Percy and Laurel both watched as the Cyclops neared the trees. Apollo knew what he was planning.
Just as the Cyclops got close enough to the trees Grover began to play his pipes. The trees around them seemed to move and shake, and just like that the Cyclops were distracted as they began to be wrapped in vines. Percy saw his chance and sliced his sword through one of the Cyclops legs. Apollo, reached for his last arrow and with little aim he shot the Cyclops eye, leaving it to disappear in golden dust.
By the end of it the four were left panting for breath again, they were all tired and still injured.
"We did it,... for now," just then Percy was attacked from behind. More so grabbed.
Apollo, Percy, and Grover were all suddenly grabbed. They were all distracted by the Cyclops and the hell hounds that they had forgotten about the Furies. Apollo could also sense something near by, it felt of darkness and death. He felt stupid.
This was a trap.
There were few entrances to the underworld, Apollo distracted and overwhelmed as he was forgot about the entrance that could be opened by music in Central park. They had surrounded them and trapped them, and he was foolish enough not to realise nor remember it.
But fortunately for Percy he was able to slice through Alecto with riptide. Megaera was next to disappear, as Laurel was able to throw her bronze dagger straight into the Furie's back. Both Grover and Percy were free, but when Laurel threw her second dagger it was too late. Tisiphone had dived and before Apollo knew it he was forced into the entrance of the underworld.
Tisiphone had her Talon digging deep into his back Apollo felt an offal pinch of pain and something sticky dripping on his back.
"Release me Tisiphone!" Apollo shouted at the Furie.
"We finally have you! A plotting thief, revenge will be so sweet. Your suffering will be slow and painful. Bad things happen to those who don't pick their friends well." The Furie screeched.
"What thief? What has been stolen?" Apollo himself wouldn't have dared to steal from his uncle. As far as he was concerned even Hermes refused too steal from Hades as well...sometimes.
"Silence! I wouldn't pretend innocence before my lord, no punishment will serve as revenge for such a crime!"
Before Apollo knew it he was falling again.

Chapter Text
Apollo fell once again.
This time he landed hard.
It was painful.
His fight with Python had left him with some pretty good bruises and cuts. Though Laurel managed to stitch some, he had gotten some new ones from his recent battle. Above all he was more then exhausted, and he didn't know what was going on.
Tisiphone dropping him just made him realise just how out of it he was. His entire body was aching, and he could feel a fresh wound from Tisisphone's talons. He felt weak as he tried to force his mortal body to get him back on his feet. He was slowly losing his strength and energy.
Having his godly powers somewhat working seemed to quickly drain his mortal form. That of course concerned him, he didn't know how much longer he could last.
"Wake up! Selfish thief! I will enjoy inflicting eternal pain upon you!" Tisiphone yelled as she kicked him.
Apollo angrily groaned, he now realised he was still on the ground his eyes were closed. When had that happened?
"Stop calling me a thief! If Hades wanted to accuse anyone of thievery, blame Hermes! Last I recall, he had stolen one of Hades swords to forge a hockey stick forty winters ago." Apollo admitted.
"Silence! You pathetic mortal! I will-" Tisiphone was suddenly interrupted.
"I see my husbands improvising worked for once." came a female voice behind him.
Apollo turned behind him to see the gates of Hades palace. Behind them was a beautiful woman, her hair was as black as night and her eyes were as brown as the earth. She wore a dress that was dark and decorated with flowers and plants. She looked out of place, her beauty was lively compared to the dark underworld around them.
Apollo was quickly reminded of Meg, with the aura and features that the woman displayed. She also had a similar expression on her face when Meg was displeased or angered.
He knew who she was before she even introduced herself, it was Persephone, Hades wife. As the mortals knew she was his half sister, aunt and cousin. His sister through his father Zues, his cousin from his aunt Demeter, and his aunt through her marriage with Hades.
She was once the pure treasure of Demeter, now she was half confined in a place that reeked the source of death. He sometimes pitied her, she would always miss seeing him fly the sun chariot around. It was one of the things she looked forward too when she didn't have to spend six months in the underworld.
But despite his relief to see her, she looked at him with disgust and slight hatred. The glare he was receiving was no doubt a look passed down by her mother.
"Yes my lady, we caught this one working with the thief himself!" Tisiphone shouted.
"I will see to it that you are rewarded; however, I believe your sisters are more suited to punish those who have committed these kind of unforgiving crimes." She gave Apollo a sneer.
Apollo wasn't quite sure why he would receive such a look. After all he and Persephone were on good terms, though he did tend to stay away from Demeter's children after her kidnapping. But then he was reminded of his current form, and what Grover had said earlier.
Apollo sighed he was still feeling like he fell into the sea chaos. He doubted the feeling would ever leave him.
"Persephone, I need to speak with Hades urgently." Apollo told her.
"Yes, you will be speaking with my husband and then you will be sent to the field's of punishment you thieving mortal!" Persephone yelled. The gates in front of her swung opened by the force of her power being released.
Apollo frowned, when had Persephone become so... cold?
As the goddess of the spring she was seen as beautiful and kind. It is how Demeter had raised her of course. Though, it was said she was upset every time she had to come back to the underworld. Apollo hadn't really thought of how it effected her.
By Chaos how wrong he was.
Persephone was suddenly close, rage radiating from her. Apollo felt as if he was choking, looking down he noticed vines around his throat. When did plants grow in the land of the dead? He clawed at them trying to pull them apart.
"Because of you and that son of the sea, I am trapped here! My husband is in constant anger because of this war! My mother disowned me, leaving me banished from Olympus! My small window of being on the surface has been shut because of you and that sea god's brat!" Persephone raged.
Apollo felt the vines pull tighter on his throat. He felt the air cut from his mortal lungs, pain came forth once more.
"I-" Apollo tried to speak but the vines around his throat blocked his voice.
"Tell me mortal." Persephone's voice was nothing more then an angry whisper as she leaned ever closer to his face. "Why should I not just toss you into the pit of Tatarus? You are useless to me. It's that 'friend' of yours I'm after." Persephone's eyes were filled with rage, and anger.
"Mistress, Lord Hades wouldn't be pleased with that," Tisiphone told her calmly beside her.
Persephone glared at the Furie.
Apollo began to panic, he couldn't feel nothing but pain. Until, a familiar feeling of rage and power filled him. He could feel something within his mortal form call to him, it was as if it too was panicking.
Apollo felt strength with in himself. He felt as if he did when he fought Python, as if he was neither a god nor mortal. He was something else entirely, but it wouldn't last long.
"I," Apollo strongly griped the vines around his neck.
"Am not a mortal!" through one final push of pain Apollo ripped the vines away from his throat. However, but he had accidentally released more power than he had wanted to.
He didn't see Persephone nor the Furie through the golden light.
He passed out, being engulfed in a bright light and a warmth that reminded him of the sun.
It was both comforting and painful.
---------------------------------------------
It was dark when Apollo first woke up.
He could hear dark whispers and muffled sounds around him.
It lasted only a moment though before he drifted off again.
The second time he woke up, he managed to to get a good feel of where he was. Somewhere cold and dark, where the shadows themselves literally whispered. He couldn't speak nor move but he managed to open his eyes, his vision was blurry. Then he blacked out once again.
The third time he woke up, something was being shoved down his throat. It was hot as fire, and tasted like the opposite of Nector. He bolted right up and immediately started gagging, but he also felt so much better. It was as if he was fully rested and uninjured.
"Well your certainly no ordinary mortal." Apollo heard a nearby voice.
He looked around him, it was dark once again and cold. He also took notice of the chained dead soul next to him holding a bowl of what looked to be liquid fire. It took him only a quick moment to process the scene in front of him.
He was in a cell, and a servant soul of Hades had just forced fire from the river Phlegethon down his unconscious throat. Outside of the cell Hades stood silently watching. He was either observing or about to inflict his wrath upon him. Apollo could only hope it was the first one.
Apollo also growled at his remark.
"I'm no mortal," Apollo groaned. "Of course you wouldn't have heard from down hear, I'm still serving out my very unnecessary punishment." Apollo explained. Though he was slightly confused, didn't Hades hear what happened from Jason or Nico?
Hades raised an eyebrow, "You speak to me as if you were not locked in a cell." Hades continued to watch him.
Apollo just rolled his eyes, "Then how should I speak? As if I should fear you? The only thing I should fear is how much you truly love Demeter's cereal." Apollo smirked at the memory of once catching his uncle with the leprechaun lucky charms.
Hades eyes seemed to fill with rage, but to Apollo's surprise, he also remained collected and calm. He just stared at Apollo with a dark look in his eyes, then he snapped his fingers. Almost immediately Apollo felt pain in every part of his body.
Apollo clenched his teeth after he yelled in pain. Since when could Hades do that?
"I'm almost tempted to throw you into the sea of Chaos, after you wounded my wife and nearly destroyed my palace. Not to mention you were found helping the demigod who stole my helm!" This time Hades allowed his voice to boom loudly.
Apollo said nothing, he was left gasping for air. He laid motionless on the ground, only able to stare at the ceiling. He was forced to just lay there and listen to Hades.
"I perhaps would have offered you a deal, but as of now I'm quite curious about what you are." Hades voice calmed.
Apollo still couldn't say anything, but after what Hades said a part of his prophet powers started going crazy. He had a familiar tingly feeling in his head, followed by a feeling in his essence.
The next thing he knew he was in the realm of dreams. The reason as to why, he did not know, but it felt deeply as if he were in one of his visions.
He was momentarily spared from Hades curiosity.
Apollo could feel himself in the dream like state, he was no longer in his body. At least his consciousness wasn't, he was now in the dream world. He slowed himself to walk through a familiar green mist. Then he could hear the whispers.
As Apollo walked in the world of dreams he finally came to a scene. He saw his uncle Poseidon, he looked terrible. Apollo could see the world around him, he was underwater at his uncle's underwater palace. It was damaged and nearly going in ruins.
Poseidon had grey hair and a white beard, he was dressed in his full armor. He looked weakened as if he had been in a constant battle, in which he was. Apollo noticed that there was a battle going on, Poseidon was at war.
"We need assistance." Came the voice of his cousin Triton.
Poseidon looked at his son in outrage.
"We need no assistance!" Poseidon raged. However the god of the sea staggered.
"My lord your power weakens, both of the wars with Zeus and Oceanus will continue to wear us down." Triton warned him.
"It is not an option," Poseidon said as he watched the battle before him. He looked defeated. "My brothers accuse me of thieving their symbols of power, only the demigod can prove my innocence. Until then we are on our own."
"The demigod is the reason for all of this! He would never be able to do it! Surely Zeus and Hades would not allow Oceanus to-" Triton was interrupted by Poseidon stumbling.
"By Chaos..." Poseidon blinked and then turned to Apollo.
"What is it?" Triton seemed almost worried.
"What are you?" Poseidon looked directly at Apollo.
Apollo was slightly confused, no being in his visions could acknowledge him. His visions were sights of the future, much like his prophecy's. No being was ever able to see him. Unless... this wasn't a vision.
Apollo was suddenly gasping for air. Hades was now in the cell with him, and beside him was a familiar goddess of Oaths.
Apollo looked at them both in shock, the vision was suddenly disrupted by green smoke. Much like that of his oracle.
"You survived." Styx looked at him her hating eyes emotionless.
"You!" Apollo stood up and attempted to attack the Oceanid.
Being a goddess and Apollo still a mortal the goddess dodged and moved right behind him.
"Your still mortal." Styx observed.
Apollo stumbled, he was forced to lean against the wall as his vision spun. Though he still managed to send a glare towards the goddess.
"This is your doing isn't it?" He accused.
Styx eyes changed into an emotion that didn't fit the goddess. Apollo could only guess the foreign emotion as fear, concern, or the most worrying joy.
"Unfortunately not," she smirked at him.
Apollo suddenly felt uneasy, he was hit hard with his reality and situation. Whatever was going on, it seemed to go even against the power of the fates. That was saying something considering they see and write everyones destiny. But as the god of prophecy he knew that not even the fates could do something like this.
"Then surely you know who," Apollo didn't have to ask he could see the almost mischievous joy in the Oceanid grow.
"Indeed, it seems that Chaos itself has chosen to bend every force in existence to aid you into keeping your oath." Styx explained.
Apollo could hear Hades gasp slightly beside him. He had been so darkly quiet that Apollo had forgotten about his presence. He as the eldest son of Kronos and one of the most powerful gods, stood there in utter shock. His calm demeanour dropped.
"What do mean change every force?" Apollo asked worried for his fate.
He knew this was no longer about him becoming a god. If the entity of Chaos was now somehow involved this was bigger then any force the gods had ever faced. What ever happened, Apollo felt dread deep through him. He knew it was something he didn't want to hear.
Styx became slightly hesitant, secretly she was more worried about Apollo's oath. Her main purpose was to watch over oaths, and those who broke them were hers to punish. Oaths were like jewels to her, she didn't want anything to happen to them and she wanted them to remain strong and shiny.
"You've been erased from existence. None know who or what you are nor who or what you were."
---------------------------------------------
Meanwhile
Percy, Laurel, and Grover ran as fast as they could.
They could only pray that they were fast enough.
Laurel being mortal and older then both of the boys she had to stop to catch her breath.
The three of them stopped running and quickly made their way inside of near by cafe where they received odd looks. But as they were in New York no one made any comments and went on with their own conversations.
"Ar-Are we..." Grover was the first to break the silence.
"I-I don't think there's anything we can do," Laurels voice cracked.
"Were going to save him." Percy said with determination.
"Percy-" before Laurel could shut down his thoughts Percy exploded.
"No! I'm so sick and tired of this, I hate that we always have to run. I hate how I have to leave people behind! Whoever that guy was, he saved my life!" He snapped.
People around the cafe looked at them, but Percy didn't care. At this point in his life he had stopped caring about any situations dealing with the mortals. He was just so tired of it, of this life as a demigod. He had been running from the gods for almost three years.
If that wasn't bad enough, he had to add the regular problems demigods had to deal with. That was constantly running from monsters, never being able to be near his mother, because he put her in danger. He also couldn't be on technology because it seemed to draw in more monsters.
The worst part, was he couldn't be with anyone like him. He couldn't have any friends. If he was to befriend a mortal either the gods or the monsters would get to them. If he was to befriend any demigod that would just be many times worse.
He missed his demigod friend's, not too long ago he had met some people. One of them was Clarisse La Rue, being one of his closest friends. Some time ago he, Clarisse, and Grover had went to an island to find the golden fleece.
At first it wasn't anything big, except a fleece which was golden. Then they discovered it could heal anyone on the brink of death. He had met a Cyclops named Tyson that had came along and helped them. Supposedly, Tyson was only eight years old at the time. He loved the guy like a brother, but in the end he had Tyson stay with Clarisse.
After they had separated nearly two years ago Percy never saw them again. He could only hope that maybe they would run into each other again some day. But as the years went by he began to doubt they would ever meet again. But a few months after they had went their separate ways, he and Grover had met Laurel.
"I know Percy, I know. I know after everything that we've been through, and all the sacrifices we've all made. But with that demigod son of Hermes, Luke leading a war with Kronos and the gods fighting among themselves. There is almost no hope for you demigods." Laurel reminded him of the situation.
"He wasn't a demigod." Grover spoke up.
"Now that you mention it, Lester the boy who saved you seemed...off," Laurel agreed.
"Off?" Percy questioned looking at the both of them.
"He smelt completely mortal like everyone in here, but there was another smell. It was almost like yours but stronger, like he was a god." Grover said the last part quietly.
"Wouldn't a demigod smell like a god and a mortal?" Percy frowned now confused.
Grover shook his head.
"No, demigod's smell the same. Their smells are just stronger or weaker then others, depending on how powerful they are. They would smell like a mortal and a god combined. It's a smell that I know, that Lester guy was a mortal, but he smelt like a god." Grover tried to explain.
Percy thought back to the moment the Lester guy had saved him. He had struck the Chimera in the eye with a perfect arrow. The way it was fired, Percy would have expected only someone from Artemis's hunt to fire like that. He suddenly shivered at the thought of Artemis or her hunt. They were brutal.
"We need to find him before Hades can do anything. Whoever that boy was I have a feeling he has a great importance." Laurel suddenly changed her mind.
"Really?" Grover asked slightly surprised.
Grover knew Larual's big secret, she was Poseidon's Oracle.
She was also the reason that both he and Percy were alive right now. Normally Poseidon would simply ignore the Oracle, none thought of it as an important role. Well, not since the last Oracle had announced a false prophecy. Which was announced almost twenty years ago.
That one prophecy had mentioned a twin of one of Zeus's daughters on Olympus. As far as anyone else was concerned, none knew of an Olympian with a twin, only Ares of course had his twin sister Enyo. Other then that there was no twins on Olympus.
"But first we're going to need some help."

Annabeth hated him.
Even after two years of having only each other and Sam.
Let it be said, Zane Carver is the most annoying person on the planet.
"No!" Annabeth yelled at her half brother.
"Come on, pleeeeese." Zane continued to nag.
"For the last time, No! We are not going to start a chicken farm, nor are we going to have any kind of livestock." Annabeth sent him a glare that could kill.
"Think about it, not only would we have chickens we could start an entire farm!" Zane tried to convince her.
Annabeth signed and rolled her eyes.
"I already told you no livestock, but I already started on plans for crops. The soil here is good enough to grow some berries. However, with the war going on among the gods, I doubt Demeter will focus on crops and harvests this year." Annabeth frowned at the ground.
"The City is always close by in case we need supplies. Like mother wisely said, 'As long as you take the necessary precautions you can always get to the city safely'." Zane smiled quoting their mother.
She nodded and was about to reply until a familiar voice spoke up.
"Wise indeed," came a woman's voice.
Annabeth and Zane both turned around, just inside the woods they could see Sam Greenwood shaking nervously. Behind him was a woman who wore a red blouse, skinny jeans, and Nike shoes. Her hair was a dark brown, and fell to her shoulders. Her eyes, the most familiar feature she had, were a storming grey that mirrored Annabeths.
"Mom!" They both shouted and ran to her.
The goddess was shocked for a brief moment, as she was engulfed in a double hug. But nevertheless she hugged them back, her children were her secret joy.
Not Zues, nor any of the other gods knew of her children. Her father would rage and would assume the cretinous mistake that she broke her vow of eternal maiden hood. She didn't fear for her children because she knew she had nothing to fear.
However, there was the unfortunate case that her father was under a lot of pressure and anger as of recent. Her convincing him to leave her children alone would be quite low at the moment.
She also had the large task of making sure most of her children stood away from Kronos and his army. Not to mention she had to help her father and uncles stop their own war.
Athena only smiled at her children.
"You both will be wise to remember that I will always be watching. Should any of you need my guidance you need only to ask." She looked at them both.
She admired both their eyes, Annabeths reflected hers. Zane however, had blue ones that were familiar to her.
"It's been a while," Zane suddenly said.
"Indeed, and I must praise young Sam. You've done quite an exemplary job protecting my children." She praised Sam who had been silent the entire time.
"Oh... Thanks... your welcome...um..we I mean your always welcome." Sam stuttered.
Athena smiled, then her expression turned serious as she turned back to her children.
"As blissful as I am to see you, I must send you on a quest. Another one of your siblings is in dire need of assistance. He's lost his way near central park. Hades, the fool, has unnecessarily flooded Manhattan with beasts. I worry he will not make it to you alive." Athena looked at them both.
After a moment of silence Annabeth spoke up.
"We'll get to him." Annabeth said with determination.
Athena smiled with pride, she knew what had happened to her poor daughter. Her dearest Annabeth had lost two family's too many, now that she had Sam and Zane Athena was going to give Annabeth her true family. Never again would she let Annabeth feel alone.
"I know you will, but be warned there are many monsters. Monsters tend to be more arduous when in larger numbers and enclosed closely together. However, with the right precautions you'll have limited trouble." She looked at Annabeth knowing her mind would remember the intel.
"I will be watching over you," She smiled at them and flashed away.
Zane and Annabeth was lost for moment, they stared at a box that was laying where their mother was just before. In it was Ambrosia and Nectar, and some owl shaped cookies that smelt like vanilla.
"Come on," Annabeth hurried towards the old farm house they called home.
Zane quickly grabbed the box that was left in Athenas place, he and Sam followed behind.
Annabeth was already putting together their supplies. Even though they would probably make it back before dark. A demigod could never be too careful.
Zane, after setting down the box, grabbed their weapons, his being a bronze sword with a blue jewl on the hilt. Though, it was currently in it's folding tooth brush form. He also grabbed Annabeths dagger that was given to her some time before they met.
Annabeth and Zane had everything in order in less than a minute. After knowing each other for years the siblings had developed a system and came up with various secret codes and procedures.
Annabeth was by far the smartest between the two, but Zane was the most skilled in combat. Annabeth had gotten the wisest part of Athena while Zane had gotten Athenas skilled combat abilities. Together with Sam they were a great team.
Sam had his reed pipes ready, he already knew a variety of songs as Athena had gifted him sheet music some time ago. Specifically she gave him songs to help him protect Annabeth and Zane.
At times Sam would question if it was himself that was being protected. Because as far as he could see the siblings knew more then he did, they even fought better. But at these times, Zane reminded him he was his best friend, and Annabeth reminded him he was the only one who could smell the monsters.
Sam was also quite happy he was stuck with the two siblings, as they were mostly mature. They had times when they would argue and bicker, but after the years of knowing them he knew they could never be mad at each other.
Sam didn't know what happened in Annabeths past, but whatever happened made her over protective of Zane. Everything that annoyed her she instantly ignored and forgave. The small pranks and jokes he pulled made her laugh instead of making her angry.
He had promised to protect both of them not as a guardian but as their friend. Because knowing both of them he knew that's what they needed.
"All set?" He asked as Annabeth quickly grabbed some Ambrosia, Nectar, and a few cookies from the box.
"Yup," she said as she took her dagger and handed him his backpack.
They moved quickly and silently, Sam trusted Annabeth to becoming up with or to already have a plan in her mind. She was just brilliant like that, Zane was probably already going through strategic plays to help or coming up with his own plan.
Sometimes he wondered if he just got lucky. He had thought looking after demigods would be nothing more then a life of danger. He could be out looking for Pan or helping to preserve the forests. But no he was here with the two smartest demigods he knew.
It wasn't babysitting, nor was it running from monsters every few minutes. Well, there was plenty of monsters but luckily Athena had provided them with some very strong smelling items to wards off the demigod smell. Not that it smelt bad to him.
The three of them hurried to Thalia's tree, the place where a daughter of Zeus had died many years ago. Annabeth stopped just a few feet away from the tree, Zane was slightly surprised. It was something he noticed Annabeth did often. Eventually she stopped doing it, but now all of a sudden she just stared at the tree.
"Annabeth?" He asked carefully.
Zane got a good look at the expression on her face. He knew his sister enough to know that she was reliving a moment from her past. It tended to get the better of her.
"Oh, right we have a mission," Annabeth snapped out her sudden trance.
She suddenly hurried ahead not looking back at the tree.
"Annabeth," Zane sighed he knew when something was bothering her.
"Do you remember when I told about Thalia joining the Hunters?" she asked suddenly.
Both Sam and Zane nodded.
"The thing is, I never told you guys the real reason why I never joined them." she frowned at the ground as if ashamed of something.
"What happend?" Zane never heard her speak of Thalia much.
Yet, Zane had secretly looked through her stuff. He had found some old photos by complete accident and had saw a boy a girl and what looked to be a young Annabeth. He recognized one of them as Luke the Luke. The Luke that was currently leading Kronos army against the gods.
"I'll tell you one day," Annabeth suddenly neutralized herself. Hiding any and all emotion from her face and voice.
Zane knew that side of Annabeth. It was her way of avoiding her past, and the pain of her memories. Zane was no expert on the matter but theorized it to be a defense mechanism of some sort. At times he had to be careful where he poke at her past. Otherwise she avoided speaking completely for hours on end.
He sighed then turned to Sam who was looking at them uncomfortably.
"I guess we'll figure it out one way or another," he then turned and jogged to catch up with Annabeth.
Sam had a feeling that he was going to have a very long day.
-------------------------------------------------
By the time they reached Manhattan the sun had begun to set.
Sam had become extremely paranoid all of sudden.
Annabeth had to constantly lead them out of sight of the endless amount of monsters.
"Whatever happened, Hades must have been enraged to have sent so many monsters. I can smell different kinds, both close by and farther towards central park." Sam spoke as he sniffed the air.
"Can you smell another demigod near by?" Annabeth turned to him.
"I can smell an older trail left behind by a really powerful demigod, and another it smells more recent." He nodded.
"Lead the way," Annabeth pointed ahead of her.
Sam followed the more recent scent, whoever the demigod was Sam had no doubt they were surrounded by monsters. The scent led them down a few streets, they eventually past by the museum of modern art. Sam stopped in his tracks.
"What's wrong?" Zane observed Sam's sudden discomfort.
"Were definitely on the right path, I can only imagine a demigod like the two of you in a place like this." He motioned towards the Art museum.
"Monsters?" Annabeth quickly guessed.
"There was a lot of them," Sam continued forward them stopped dead in his tracks.
He turned behind him to look at the two siblings; both of them shared a look. In front of them was monster dust, and a lot of it. There was also blood, demigod blood by the smell of it. Sam suddenly felt a little sick.
"You don't think..." Zane trailed off.
"No, by the looks of it he's injured badly, but the way the blood smears to one side..." She trailed off observing the scene.
Tourists and other mortals passing by made her job a little difficult but she found what she was looking for. A few drops of blood which began a trail.
"I picked up his scent, along with a lot of monsters." Sam suddenly hurried forward, the siblings followed.
The scent led them down to central park, there they found a demigod who had blonde hair and storming grey eyes that greatly resembled Annabeth's. They also found four Scythian Dracanae surrounding him. From what Sam could see, the demigods weapon of choice looked to be a grappling hook.
"Sam get to him help him get away, I and Zane will distract the Dracanae," Annabeth gave her bag to Sam and put her invisibility cap on. She disappeared instantly.
"Wait until I have their attention," Zane yelled as he hurried forward.
"Hey! Land squids! Over here!" Zane shouted towards the Dracanae.
That succeeded in getting their attention, theirs and the injured demigod. Zane backed up a little as three of the Dracanae turned towards him. He instantly ran towards the lake. Before he new it he was in a full sprint ruining away from the three.
With Zane and Annabeth taking care of three of the Dracanae, Sam was left with their new sibling and one of the remaining monsters. As soon as the monster stepped closer to them Sam noticed that the demigod was severely injured on his left leg. He took out his reed pipes and played one of the songs he had learned from Athena.
The grass below the monster began to move and grow, tying the monsters snake like legs to the ground. Leaving it unable to move. Though, Sam knew it was only temporary. Knowing he had limited time, Sam ran over to the injured son of Athena.
"Are you-" Sam was cut off by a punch to the face.
He stumbled backwards as pain shot through his nose. Leaving him in pain and slightly dizzy. When everything stopped spinning, the first thing he felt was blood dripping down his nose. He also took notice of how the demigod ran from him.
Meanwhile Zane had finally reached the lake, behind him the three Dracanae began to form a circle. Trapping him with his back to the lake.
"Theresssss no where to run now little demigod," a Dracanae spoke. She slowly slithered closer.
Instead of replying or running Zane got out his fold up tooth brush. The Dracanae took one look at it and laughed.
"Thatsssssss pathetic you- gahh!" The Dracanae that had been speaking suddenly burst into golden dust.
Zane immediately unfolded the tooth brush and brushed the bristles, with a bronze glow, it grew into a Celestial bronze sword. On instinct he slashed it through another one of the Dracanae. Upon impact that one turned to dust as well.
Not too far behind him, Annabeth stabbed the last one. With it's death it turned into golden dust, but on the ground layed a skin of snake scales.
"That's new," Zane turned his sword back into a folded toothbrush.
Upon walking closer he observed it better. Annabeth held the skin in her arms, a confused expression on her face. She was as confused as Zane was. They had fought a huge amount of Dracanae over the years, and they had received many spoils from their kills. The snake skin however was new, and off, in a way in which it did not belong.
"Something's not right," Annabeth mumbled under her breath.
Zane knew she was thinking the same thing he was, as he started to speak a loud yell came from behind them. That's when they realised there was still another monster left.
They hurried back to Sam just as the Dracanae broke free from the grass trap. Annabeth wasted no time in throwing her dagger at the creature, years of fighting monsters taught her well. Then just like that all was done and settled.
That was until Sam came around behind them holding his still hurting nose.
"Where is he?" Annabeth asked observing the absence of her new sibling.
"About that, he ran off." Sam simply replied.
Annabeth utterly faced palmed.
Notes:
A little change in P.O.V. and I know Athena's character in the book is more cold and quite harsh, yet she is kind and prideful in a way.
She's more of a proud mama in this one. UwU

Chapter Text
Artemis felt nothing.
She gave up on love long ago.
It has made her both cruel and a rival to many of the gods.
When she was born almost instantly she grew into what would be a six year old child to mortals. It wasn't too long after her birth that she realized her existence was cursed the moment she was conceived. Just a mere few days after her birth she was walking beside her mother when suddenly she was attacked by the earth dragon Python.
Long story short, the battle was her victory, however her face had been scarred. The sly snake had also gotten away from her, and it was that moment on that Artemis vowed vengeance. She had found her aunt Hestia and demanded that she be taken to see her father the king of Olympus.
Needless to say Zeus was quite shocked by her appearance and didn't quite take a liking to her anger about the snake who attacked her. However, her father took pity on her and recognized her strength, and thus decided to grant her any wished she wanted.
With her youthful anger she had asked for an army of maidens, and a weapon that could hunt from a long distance. She was given both her maidens, a bow, and hunting dogs and with them she went after the vile snake that scarred her.
She had gotten her vengeance but in doing so she had lost favor with her father as the snakes mother had been angered. Thankfully her uncle Poseidon had come to her defense as she was only a new born goddess unable to understand her actions. To remedy the situation the Oracle of Delphi was established.
That was only the beginning.
The true start of her cruel heart started when she met Athena.
Athena was Zeus's one true favorite child of them all, not only had she helped the gods to evolutionary standards she was also instantly made an Olympian. Not even Hera could oppose to her, not to say Hera didn't despise her, after all Athena was a child of Zeus and his first legitimate wife. With this knowledge Zeus still considered her a legitimate heir.
It was the jealousy that made her do it. As Athena became a virgin goddess of wisdom and war, Artemis also sought to become a virgin goddess. Thus she swore off love, and any of those who followed her wouldn't be allowed to join her if they didn't do the same. Yet, this path of no love is what pushed things to become much worse.
Her first impression had left many to believe she was a vengeful and hateful goddess. The promise of no love merely pushed others to believe this, the promise in general just pissed off Aphrodite. So with her lack of love, and her anger towards her half sister it wasn't long until Artemis have up on sibling love as well.
The next incident came long after she had become the goddess of the moon, and long after her golden deer had been captured.
It was the Kalydonian Boar Hunt that truly framed her image as a vengeful goddess. When King Oineus of Kalydon forgot about Artemis at the time of the harvest, Artemis had become enraged. In her desire for vengeance she summoned a monstrous boar that had begun to rampage. In the process many animals that were sacred to many of the gods were killed as well as many of their mortal followers and worshippers.
It didn't need to be said that the gods were displeased with her, however Zeus had allowed her justice this once as she was insulted by the mortals.
In the mortals attempt to please her the Kalydonian Boar Hunt was established with all of the best hunters coming forwards to hunt for their own glory. Still in spite Artemis sabotaged them all, by trickery she had made spears bounce off the Boar's hide, and even confused the true hunter when the beast was finally slain, which ultimately resulted in a civil war.
The vengeful fits only continued from then, another such time was when Queen Niobe claimed her children was better then her. So she killed fourteen of her children and only spared the youngest, after which she turned the queen herself to stone.
If anyone was to think her rivalry with Athena, her oath, or her spiteful nature was to blame for her complete lack of love they would be a fool.
While she may be unable to love romantically and lacked any sibling to truly love and share a strong bond with, it was friends that had kept her merciful.
The first best friend to be taken was her best hunter and lieutenant Kallisto. After the discovery of her friends pregnancy Artemis had been hurt that her friend had not told her the truth and instead hid it from her. Not to include the fact that the child belonged to her father, so with mercy for her service Artemis turned her into a bear and told her to leave her sight or die.
Not too long after that, it was Orion who, despite being male, actually impressed Artemis with his skills and abilities. She even permitted him to join her and her hunt, which only served to please her more with his great respect and space for both her and her hunters. However, one particular day when they were alone Aphrodite had spotted them and had snitched to her father.
Her father who had been completely enraged and had forced Artemis to watch as her dearest friend was cursed with madness. In no time his madness lead to the anger of Gaea who had a scorpion attack and kill Orion. After she had found his body she made him a constellation to honor both her friend and his story.
The next loss is what truly broke her, Hippolytus was a legacy or descendent of the gods as well as a fine prince. In a way he had reminded her of Orion, and so he to was permitted to meet the hunt as a male, as well as the fact the he showed no romantic needs for neither men nor women. Though her hunters were displeased at first they soon accepted him, he soon fitted in well with them.
That was until Artemis heard news about his death after a family visit turned fight. It was only after that did Artemis discover rumors about Aphrodite, who had made both displeased remarks before hand and quite satisfied comments after the prince's death.
After completely collapsing to her knees in tears, in her grief and anger she had marched straight to Olympus and all out basically screamed her declaration for war against Aphrodite. However, Artemis was instead punished as a mortal for once again endangering her vow of maidenhood, and daring to harm a fellow Olympian without proof of wrong doing.
After that her hunters and her maidens could die in her honor, but she would never shed a tear for not one of them. She would honor them, stand with them, and comfort them, but she would not mourn them. For how could a goddess who had sworn off love, was hated and feared by her siblings, and had lost her most dearest of friends hold onto love when all it had ever caused her was pain.
Even as she currently sat on her throne listening to her father's rage she felt nothing.
Nothing but anger for Zeus who took her best friend, apathy for the Athena who she was compared to, hatred for Hera who had sent the snake that had scarred her face, and spite for the other gods because her anger needed something to be angry at.
"I do not see reason?!" Her father raged.
"Father if I may-" Hermes tried to reason with Zeus and his anger.
Artemis just sighed, for some time now every time a meeting was called to Olympus it had only ever ended in a screaming match. Yes, she understood her father's rage, for if her bow was stolen from her she would without a doubt declare war on any and everyone until it was returned to her. Yes, it greatly concerned her for the fact the one of the most powerful weapons ever created was stolen.
However, she did not understand the reason for why her father continued to blame it on her uncle. Artemis was no Athena but she had heard of the dreadful situation her uncle had been placed in. Needless to say, she doubted her uncle would simply not return the master bolt had he actually stole it.
It didn't need to be said that the world was in chaos, ever since the day that Zeus had noticed that the master bolt was missing. That and Hades Helm of Darkness was also missing. All except for Poseidon's trident, which for whatever reason remained untouched. Coincidentally, not too long after the discovery of the theft Poseidon suddenly claimed another bastard demigod.
However, Artemis knew the cycle of predator vs. prey and the prey was Poseidon. She had her suspicions that Athena also suspected foul play in this war against her uncle, but remained silent on this matter. She knew very well how her uncle was being slowly worn down by both the war with her father and against Oceanus.
Sighing Artemis once again gave up and left the throne room, once again seeing how useless it was to simply listen to her father's endless rage. She remained unnoticed by Zeus as she once again left before being dismissed. Before she could flash away however she felt something, not physically nor mentally but something in her power.
She was suddenly in a dream; no not a dream, a vision.
She could feel something new in her essence something like a connection and whatever it was, it was pulling her into this odd vision.
Around her she could see green mist, through it she could see two things. One was a mortal no more older then eighteen years. The other thing was a very familiar snake, a snake that lunged at her.
Artemis suddenly collapsed.
Unknown to her, the entirety of the council had gone silent even Zeus in his anger had stopped and turned his attention to his fallen daughter.
Then they all could feel it.
Something ungodly had just made its power known, something not quite God but not quite mortal either.
Whatever it was, it was bounding itself to Artemis's power.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Apollo just blinked.
He didn't respond.
How was he supposed to know how to respond.
Everyone knew that those who fall into the void are left as nothing. Not in essence, not in soul, nor in body be it a mortal, monster, or even a god you were gone from existence. It was one of the many things that the gods feared, and one of the many reasons why the Olympians themselves distanced themselves from Tartarus. The sea of chaos created the first primordial and the start of life it's self, yet should one fall into it they become nothing more then one with the void.
On the other hand it was also said to be a resting place or a final place of rest for faded gods. Apollo, being the successor of a faded god, knew this very well. However, of all the wild and crazy things he's done falling into the void of chaos was not one of them, until now.
"Thats- this can't - surely," he didn't have the words.
He was a god and not just any ordinary god either he was an Olympian. Not only that but he held many more domains then most of the other gods if not almost all of them. He was the god of the sun, the arts, prophecy, truth, healing, and the list goes on. It was bad enough his father stripped him of his powers and his immortality. He had been concerned over his domains as after becoming a mortal and he discovered his oracle Rachel could no longer see visions.
Now being told he doesn't exist or it is as if he has been erased terrified him. Not only for what it meant for him and his power, but what it meant for his children and the order of the future he was once able to see. The consequences would mean camp half blood, his children, and his oracle didn't exist. That made him hyperventilate, Chiron who was the first he adopted and raised was meant to watch over camp half blood. With it Apollo who would have found him and raised him with his abilities didn't exist, and with that Chiron would not have been found or trained. What would it mean for the centaur who trained and raised generations of heroes and warriors? What would it mean for his students who followed his guidance?
Asclepius his son, who was not only one of the first students of Camp Half- blood, but was also turned into a god. Without Asclepius how many of the mortals fell to illness? How many fail to to heal the sick without his guidance over the domain? What of Asclepius's children and their domains?
Apollo paced in rapid thought thinking of the horrible consequences and the situation he was in.
Then he froze.
"Artemis!" He came to a realization. He suddenly turned to Styx who simple watched him.
"Your twin lives, however she lives without a twin." Styx said skeptically.
Apollo didn't ask instead he simple sat on the ground mentally exhausted with this entire ordeal. But a small spark of betrayal and cold horror washed over him at the realization his twin would not recognize him.
As Apollo had his mortal breakdown Hades watched him from the side carefully observing him quietly.
"A twin you say? And to the moon goddess no less. Now this has taken quite the turn, are you certain he isn't something along the lines of a rejected lover?" Hades responded curiously to Styx in disbelief.
Apollo allowed his anger to be heard.
"I will have you know my sister has kept her vow, and I would happily curse the Styx to make sure she keeps it. And while we gods can procreate without issue like the mortals I will have you know it was my sister who helped my mother birth me." He flushed red at such a thought angry and annoyed Here's of all people would say such a thing.
"Do forgive me, but the moon goddess is well known not for her hunters nor her skill. She is known for her cruelty and her easy temper. Many call her the most cruelest amongst the gods for her lack of love, she has sworn of men, doesn't get attached to any mortal in her hunt, and she stands as a great rival to Athena and Aphrodite." Hades waves off uncaring as if he explaining the obvious to a naive child.
"What do- My sister swore off men but holds respect for those who shoe greatness in the skill of the hunt, and while she may have sworn off romantic love our bonds a siblings has remained strong for thousands of years." Apollo defended his sister.
Hades scoffed in annoyance.
"The threads of fate continue to spin. " Styx Continues to explain to Apollo.
"Your words make little more sense then some of the prophecies I have foretold!" Apollo snapped at her and began to pace in the cell fury striking his mind.
"Yes, even I haven't been encountered such a case with mortal before." Hades calmly watched Apollo.curious still.
"I am not a mortal I have simply been forced into this unjust punishment! " Apollo snapped at Hades the pressure and stress as to what has happened taking its toll on his normally carefree personality.
After all that's happened with Jason dying, leaving behind Meg when he assured her he would return to see her, and being cast out from Olympus he honestly wasn't quite sure how to handle it. He had completed his task in defeating Python so that the Fates may continue to restore weave Fate back in order, he had learned his lesson to understand the value and humility of the mortals, he fought until the very end and now he was not only outdated from Olympus but he apparently ceased to exist all together.
As far as he was concerned he had fallen into the sea of Chaos where a being is erased from existence where not even their essence is left over. However, Apollo himself was fine an breathing however it appeared noe he was erased from...wait.
"Wait. Before when you said that Chaos itself seemed to change everything do you mean..." Apollo paused.
Styx nodded. "You fell into the sea of creation where those who fall upon its forces will be erased from existence itself. However, the void has chosen to spare you however an exchanged appeared to be taken to keep the balance." Styx tried to explain.
Letting out a bitter laugh Apollo leaned against the wall and sat on the floor in defeat and at the twisted irony of his situation. It appeared that yes, he had fallen into the void of Chaos where he was supposed to be erased and destroyed like paper in water. However, according to Styx and the best explanation for the scenario was the power of Chaos had spared his physical form in exchange for erasing his thread in the weave of fate, or it could just have been how falling into Chaos worked.
That sudden last thought made him curse as he realized that if the latter part was correct, if an individuals existence was erased as if they never existed but their physical form spared, it ment that Python would still be alive. However, if it was the case of Chaos making an exception of him he was at least spared him, but left him with this new reality in which no one knows him he was now possibly permanently trapped as mortal.
"It would make sense, but what such great importance do you hold that even the the sea of creation would spare you from its power?" Hades questioned getting closer to Apollo and observing him still.
"I have already told you I am no mortal but a god and an Olympian at that." Apollo repeated now annoyed by having to repeat himself.
"Truly? I find that hard to believe seeing your current state." Hades motioned to his current form.
"Its a long tale that I truly don't have time for. " Apollo responded.
"Well I do, I also have a missing Helm and two brothers at war while the Titans rise again. I'm oh so furious and over worked and so very very bored by being in this dark domain of mine. And as God of the dead it is within my duty to over see a lost soul that may have escaped death." Hades turned cold in an instant making it very clear he wasn't going to allow him to dismiss him.
Apollo wanted to argue with him, but realized quickly that Hades had all the cards here. Apollo was a mortal not a god even if he did have powerful bursts from time to time he didn't stand a chance, he was also still trapped and cornered in this dark cell that agitated the sun god. He hated coming down to the underworld as it was so far from his natural domain and the darkness didn't help as it put him in a weak position surrounded by the darkness.
However, he had also realized he had no where to go nor anywhere to better begin to understand his situation or what was going on currently on Olympus. He also had no help, not from the mortals, not from his sister or the other gods, and he didn't even have the camp to stay at to avoid the monsters. Getting Hades help would do nothing but benefit him.
Left with no choice he began his tale of his journey as Lester Papadopoulos.
