Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Burning heat blasted the faces of the onlooking crowd. A deafening crack thundered through the air. The titan, Bellroc’s titan, had united with the Primordial Heart stone.

“ We have to take cover, now!” A shout sounded from a taco truck that was speeding along the road of a small town. The truck accelerated but only for it  and it’s occupants to be incinerated by a wave of what seemed to be sentient liquid fire

“NOOOOO!” anguished cries came from the remnants of the group. The group of individuals was a strange thing to see, at first glance they might just look like a bunch of ordinary humans (most of them seemed human at least). Although, they are not even the slightest ordinary, or even human for most of them. The actual identity of the assembled are as follows:  a wizard, an actual human or two, a couple of Akiridians, and a few trolls.Another wave of fire came down upon them with a loud CRASH.

One survived, it was the wizard. He had cast a protection spell around himself in the nick of time, sadly he hadn’t been able to do so for the others, he was the only one left.

“I can’t let this happen,” he rasped, his throat hoarse from the boiling heat surrounding him. “I won't let this happen, not today, not tomorrow, not ever.” A sudden burst of blue energy expanded outwards from the boy and just like that, it all went black.

Chapter 2: Chapter one

Chapter Text

The sun rose over the sleepy town of Arcadia Oaks, chasing away the lingering shadows of the night. The birds had started to sing and the insects buzzed. Somewhere in that town a young girl was just awakening.

Claire Nuñez opened her eyes groggily and sat up, rubbing her eyes. She had stayed up late last night trying to figure out why she felt like the world had just ended. Recently she had started to forget things, simple things like the name of her cat, or that she even had a cat. Forgetfulness wasn’t the only problem she had been experiencing lately, she had also been having random bursts of unfounded thoughts or emotions.

She pushed through these thoughts and drove them into the corner of her mind, she will have a good old worry-free summer vacation. Claire set her jaw and stood in the middle of her room. I’ve got this. I am Claire Maria Nunez, I can and will not let my day be ruined by some feelings probably left over from a dream. Shaking herself, she turned and got ready for the day.

By the time she had eaten breakfast, gotten dressed, done her hair, etc., it was about 8:30 and Claire had already forgotten about her earlier predicament. She went upstair to her room and stood by the window for a few moments. The morning seemed fresh, new, ready to be taken and shaped into anything a person would want. A small flock of sparrows were hopping around and pecking at the ground. A cat lay stretched across her neighbor’s porch, no doubt enjoying the early sunlight.

As Claire looked around she noticed that a few garbage cans had been knocked over, including the one in front of her house. Darn raccoons. As of late, the local raccoons had been more destructive and daring. One could often hear dogs barking in the night because of this. Claire did not like the raccoon problem.

Ring. Ring. Ring. Claire’s phone rang out from her bedside table. She checked it and saw that it was her friend, Darcy, who was calling her. She answered the phone and made sure she and Darcy could hear each other.

“Hey Clairebear! Do you remember what today is?” Darcy asked excitedly. Claire tried to remember what was going to happen today but found that she could not. She stood there for a minute, wracking her mind for any idea of what she couldn’t remember but came out empty handed. That scared Claire, she didn’t want this, what was going to happen now if she couldn't remember things? The girl was so thoroughly distraught she forgot that Darcy was on the phone with her. She heard the beep of the phone hanging up and looked at herself in the mirror, was this really how her life was going to go?

Claire shook her head, no. I won't let this ruin my day, or life for that matter. She looked at her phone determinedly and dialed Darcy’s number. While she waited for her friend to pick up the phone, she sat on her bed and stared out the window.

Today would be a good day. She thought, hardening her resolve.

My how she was wrong.
