Work Text:

This was the first time you had ever been in Drautos' car. Of course you've seen his car before and knew exactly what he drove and what car was his but you weren't really a car person. You were a Titus Drautos person, memorizing any little detail about him which included what car he drove. It felt a little obsessive but you could help but gobble up any new information about your Captain with how little he talks about himself.

You stiffly sat in the passenger seat acutely aware of just how close you were to Drautos. This was really the first time you had been in such a confined space with him before. You fidgeted with your fingers as you watched the scenery pass by. He had offered you a ride to where glaiveguard joint training camp was going to be held. You felt a little embarrassed thinking about you two arriving together while the others found their own way there. At the moment when Drautos asked if you needed a ride you didn't even hesitate when you said yes.

But now that you're actually in his car sitting so close to him you were starting to rethink if saying yes was such a good idea. The radio was on playing music at a volume just loud enough for background noise, you continued looking out the window as your ears suddenly picked up the sound of humming. There were only the two of you in the car and you were pretty sure you weren't the one humming, you could barely even hear what song was playing anyway.

You glanced over to your companion on this short journey and noticed the slight smile on your Captain's face and the fact that he was definitely humming. You turned your head slightly to get a better look at his face with such a rare smile gracing his lips no matter how small it was. He looked genuinely happy; you couldn't remember a time where he ever looked happy, at least not this happy.

Suddenly Drautos glanced over at you and caught you staring. You quickly looked away and tried to pretend that you hadn't just been admiring your Captain's face but your act failed miserably.

"What?" Drautos asked, his smile disappearing and his humming gone silent.

"Hm?" Your only response as you turned to look at him, his usual grumpy expression settled back into place.

"You were staring." He stated gruffly

"Oh, was I? It was only because something interesting had caught my eye." You responded rather cheekily not quite out of ordinary for you but on the inside you were screaming.

It wasn't how you had responded but the words you had said that sent your insides into a panic. One, you admitted point blank that you were staring and two, you also admitted you saw him smiling. You may have not said it in those exact words but Drautos wasn't stupid he could read between the lines.

"And what was so interesting that had you staring in my direction?" He asked, sending a stern glance in my direction.

"It was nothing." You replied not looking at him now and instead suddenly became very interested in your hands.

"Try again." Was his only response.

You huffed internally. He already knew the answer so why go through with this stupid game.

"I said it was nothing." You huffed and turned to look back out the window, your face slowly turning a bright crimson. You didn't know why you were being so stubborn it's not like you had done anything wrong. You had just looked at the man, your Captain, Titus Drautos, the guy you had the absolute biggest crush on. You could feel your ears starting to heat up and you were pretty sure steam was going to come out of your ears any second now.

"I'll give you one more chance."

"Or what?" I snapped wishing he would just drop the damn subject "Stupid stubborn man." You whispered under your breath.

Suddenly you felt the car pull to the right and come to a stop.

"Hey, why'd we sto-" your sentence was cut off as you turned to look at your Captain only to see his face closer to yours than it ever had been before. Your face immediately burned the color of fire.

"I'm stubborn am I? He growled as his bulky body leaned over the center console to get closer to you causing you to squirm in your attempt to put some distance between the two of you.

"That's funny, coming from you. One of the most stubborn glaives I have ever had the misfortune to know." There was a dangerous look in his eyes.

You had your back pressed against the door, your legs bent at an awkward angle.

"I'm sorry, Sir. I didn't mean-"

Drautos once again cut you off before you were able to finish.

"You didn't mean for me to hear, did you." He inched closer to you practically climbing over the console to do so.

You squeezed your eyes shut both out of fear and because you could bear seeing his face so close to yours.

"No! Well..yes but no.."

"And you never answered my original question." He said in a low tone.

"Enough about that Goddamn question!" You yelled, without giving him another chance to interrupt you, you continued.

"I was looking at you, okay?! I was looking at your stupid face because you were smiling and I had never seen you smile before and I thought it looked good on you!" The words spilled out of you before your brain could stop you.

You felt your face and ears burn and tears were starting to prick at the corner of your eyes, this was so embarrassing.

Drautos stopped his intimidating march into your personal space. After a few moments passed without a word from the beast currently trying to crush you into the car door you opened one of your eyes and noticed that Drautos was now sitting back in the driver's seat.

What. The. Fuck.

You knew your Captain had some screws loose but this was just...bizarre. No, once you thought about it, that was a very Titus Drautos style reaction. Once you moved back sitting in the passenger seat like an actual human being, which you weren't sure Drautos actually was, you turned and looked at him. He seemed to be thinking about something.

You sighed and leaned over the center console and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.

"I swear for a smart guy like you you're pretty dumb." You whispered into his ear before settling back into your seat.

After the shock of you kissing him on the cheek wore off Drautos let out this loud bark of a laugh one you've never heard before. You glared at him and pouted as your face began to burn from embarrassment.

"What's so funny?" You asked a bit annoyed.

Drautos pulled back onto the road from where he had pulled off and continued the drive. You glared and pouted at him for a few more moments before going back to stare at the window with a say.

"I just didn't think you were into older men or me. Didn't bother to get my hopes up." Drautos finally answered, causing you to whip your head back around to look at him.

He had one of the goofiest grins plastered on his face, he looked like a teenager in love. You could help but laugh feeling all the tension and anxiety leave your body. Once your laughter calmed down his words finally sank in.

"So wait...are you saying…" you didn't need to finish your sentence as you watched Drautos nod his head as his answer.

You couldn't help but grin as you leaned over to place another kiss onto your Captain's cheek. You never thought this would happen, sure you dreamed about it but for it to actually happen? You were beyond ecstatic.

"But it has to remain a secret just between us, got it?" He said sternly to really hammer home that he wasn't joking, not that Captain Drautos ever joked.

You giggled and gave him an over dramatic salute.

"Yes, sir!"

Drautos rolled his eyes at your antics. The rest of the drive was filled with comfortable silence and talk of what the two of you should do once you got back to Insomnia.
