Foxwife Wedding

Summary:

This is it. The moment you're whole life has lead up to. You're finally going to be married to the love of your life, Shirakami Fubuki. Make this count, and make it forever.

Work Text:

You take a deep breath and put a hand on your chest, trying to still your fast beating heart. Looking in the mirror, you see a man that you almost could not recognize. Well-dressed, groomed hair and wearing a custom-fitted white suit, blue bowtie sitting somewhat uncomfortably on your neck thanks to it being the first time wearing it. But the eyes that stared back at you were ones you recognized. The same, tired eyes from all the work and stress, yet in them you saw the flickers of hope. Eyes that were telling you that the future was still waiting for you. Eyes that spoke of all the sadness you grew from, now molded into a man closer to your ideal self. Your eyes.

You exhale out slowly, letting yourself drift off momentarily to your memories. How you met her, and how her ocean green eyes shone out to you, making you fall in love with her in an instant. How she smiled, not just for you, but for the thousands of people who watched her. How she sang, danced and entertained for the sake of bringing smiles all over the world. How her foxy attitude would always tease you, calling you friend until the day you told her you would do just about anything to make her happy, and that you would be there for her through thick or thin. You would be her rock, her anchor. You endured for her sake, and even when the two of you fought, you would always tell her that your love for her never changed. When the day finally came and you proposed to her, she accepted whole-heartedly, her tears signaling not sadness, but pure happiness.

A knock on the door interrupts you, and you’re suddenly awoken from your daydream. It was your mother, who had an anxious look on her face, as all mothers do on the day of their son’s wedding.

“Everything alright, Anon?” She asks, sticking her head out from the door. You put on a smile and turn to your mother.

“Yeah, mom. Just a little nervous, that’s all.” Your mother’s expression softens and she approaches you, straightening your suit jacket and cupping your cheeks.

“My boy, if there’s anything I know, it is that you are nothing like your father who left us, and you will be an amazing husband to your bride. This is the most honest thing I can say to you right now. I’m proud of you, Anon.” She tells you, pulling you down to kiss you on the forehead, just like she did when you were a little kid needing to be tucked in.

“Thank you, mom. I really needed that.” It was true. Your mom had raised you even with your father out of the picture, and throughout the years you endeavored to never be like him. To be a man she could be proud of, one you could be proud of. She smiles at you with glistening eyes and pinches your cheeks.

“Alright, that’s enough coddling. Now my boy is about to be a man for real. So go out there and marry her. It’s your bloody wedding today!” She nags at you, pushing you out the door. She was right, now wasn’t the time to be a nervous wreck. It was the day you would finally marry the woman of your dreams.

--

The crowd murmured excitedly in their seats. Your body was swaying back and forth, the nervous energy within you trying to find a way to vent itself as you stood waiting at the altar. Your eyes shoot all over the place, taking in the sight of everything. It was a wedding hall designed to resemble a church, complete with pews and an altar. Seated all over were your friends and hers, a mishmash of beings from this world and beyond. You see Korone and Okayu waving at you, giving you silent support. Marine was bawling her eyes out, assumedly wishing it was her wedding, and Matsuri gave you a smile that you were sure was hiding her true feelings, but you knew she was genuinely happy for you. Your own mother sat in the front row, wiping away any tears that were flowing from her eyes, yet a smile was permanently fixed on her face, showing how happy she was to see her son being married.

Your eyes trail to your best man, Oga, who gave you a thumbs-up in reassurance. Across you was Mio, who was the bridesmaid chosen by your bride. Her gentle smile alleviated your nervousness, knowing that everyone here supported today’s eternal bonding. The priest, a lanky brown-haired man with silver eyes, cleared his throat, silencing the buzzing crowd. Your own body straightens in anticipation, as the priest announces the arrival of your bride.

The double-doors of the hall opened, and in walked the bride. She was breathtaking. A white-wedding dress with a fairly simple design, the only noteworthy elements being a few bows and ribbons the colour azure that dotted the dress, as well as a veil that covered her face. You see her fox ears poking through, excitedly, or nervously, shifting about. Her tail swayed around wildly, the beautiful white fur tapering into a black tip. Although combed to a graceful silkiness, the erratic movement betrayed her own nervousness at today’s events. And yet, she appeared as if she was a beautiful blue and white porcelain vase, simple in appearance, yet showcasing a beauty that could not simply be encompassed in mere words. It represented all that she was, simple, cute, energetic, friendly, lovely, beautiful. In her hands, a bouquet of hydrangeas complemented her amazingly, the soft blue flowers matching your own bowtie. As she walked down the aisle, heads turned to her, all gasping and murmuring in awe at her simple beauty. Next to her was a man you could only consider to be a fatherly figure to most of the girls here, Yagoo. He walked with a stiff expression, but you knew he was doing his best to hold in his own happy tears as he walked Fubuki down the aisle. It was only when she reached the altar, standing right in front of you that you realized you were holding in your breath.

With a soft exhalation, you lifted the veil and just like the first time you met her, your heart skipped a beat. Soft, aquamarine eyes stared at you as you unveiled her. Those eyes, gentle like the sea, invited you to drown in them. Her soft cheeks were given a pinkish tinge as her eyes met yours, and her lips curled into a smile as you take in the view of your bride, Shirakami Fubuki. Your own eyes glisten, and your hands tremble as you’re overwhelmed by your own sensations. What did you do to deserve someone as beautiful as her? What did you do in your previous life that allowed you to be with a woman as great as Fubuki? Did you sacrifice yourself, promising to meet in this life, to always be a part of her, as her you? You don’t know. But in those ocean green eyes, you saw your present, future, and forever with her. You loved her, more than anything in this world.

“Darling,” Fubuki calls out to you in a hushed tone. You snap out of your daydream for the second time today, and look at her once more. Her expression was slightly worried, and her hands come up to gently wipe away a stray tear from your face.

“Sorry, I-I just- I just can’t believe this is actually happening,” you tell her, slowly bringing down her hand with yours. Your fingers intertwine with hers, and she smiles at you.

“Me too, darling. I can’t believe today’s the day our souls would forever be bonded, intertwined.” It was your turn to smile at her. The priest clears his throat once more, and the two of you turn to face him to say your vows.

“Do you, Anon Y. Mous, take Shirakami Fubuki to be your lawfully wedded wife? Do you promise to be faithful to her in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, to love her and to honor her all the days of your life?”

“I do.” The words escape your lips as if by instinct.

“And do you, Shirakami Fubuki, take Anon Y. Mous, to be your lawfully wedded husband? Do you promise to be faithful to him in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, to love him and to honor him all the days of your life?”

“I do.” Your wife says. Her words resounded sweetly in your ears. Your married. She’s your wife now. And you would give her nothing but your all. Your love, your heart, your everything. Your all was the least she deserved, and for that wonderful smile of hers, you would tread seas of flame just for another smile.

“Then by the powers vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride.” The priest announces. Fubuki pushes her head out slightly, and her lips pucker ever so slightly as her eyes close in anticipation. This is it , you thought to yourself. You close your own eyes, bringing your face to hers, as your lips meet in what could only be the most important kiss of your life.

The crowd erupts into cheers and applause, but all you cared about was the person in front of you. As you pull away from her, you see her own eyes starting to become wet with tears. You softly put a hand on her cheek, brushing away the tears. Your eyes met once more, and you could see the happiness and love swimming in those ocean green orbs of hers. There was only one thing that you could say, one thing you needed to say.

“I love you Fubuki.”

“I love you too, my dearest.”

--

Your wedding flew by you like a summer dream. Receiving the congratulations of your friends, to your mother embracing you lovingly once you had completed your vows. You brought her outside, the view of the sea being a beautiful background to your wife. She tossed her bouquet behind her as per the tradition, and the two of you couldn’t help but laugh as Marine desperately tried to catch it. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it was Mio that caught it, and you secretly hoped the next wedding you attended would be hers.

Eventually, after the cake cutting, eating, and endlessly entertaining the guests, Oga gives his best man speech and invites the two of you to a dance after raising a glass in cheers. Fubuki takes your hand, and under the soft ocean breeze she leads you into a slow dance. You try to follow, your legs awkwardly trying to keep up with her own graceful movements.

“My dearest, what are those movements? I thought we practiced this already!” She giggles at your obviously terrible dance moves.

“O-of course I suck at this compared to you. You’re an idol! Dancing is literally in your veins!” You retort in embarrassment. She continues to giggle but puts one of your hands on her shoulder, taking the other in her own hand.

“Then just follow my own steps. I’ll do it slowly just for you, alright?” She says as she takes the lead once more for the dance, swaying gently as her feet move around with the grace of a ballerina. Eventually, the dance ends, and Fubuki pulls you in for another kiss before embracing you tightly. Perhaps, this wasn’t so bad. If it meant seeing your wife be happy, what was a little bit of awkward dancing?

Soon enough, the ceremony comes to a close. The two of you made sure to see everyone off, and for Fubuki, it was tearfully holding the hands of her friends from Hololive as they wished her eternal happiness, and excitement as they asked her when she will have kids and such. She would admonish them for saying such things, albeit with pinker cheeks. You yourself were talking to Oga, who stayed behind for a few words with you.

“I know you’ve already heard this countless times, but me and the rest of the Holostars would like to congratulate you for the wedding, Anon.” He says, patting you on the back.

“Thanks, Oga. I still can’t believe it honestly. It feels like only yesterday I had just met her and you all. And even though I’ve known you all for years, I can’t help but feel like this is a dream.” You confess, still looking at your beautiful wife from a distance.

“Well, consider yourself lucky to be in such a wonderful dream. I still remember when she would insist that you were merely a friend, but we all knew she held feelings for you. It was only a matter of time for the two of you to get together.” He laughs. You raise an eyebrow at his words, huffing indignantly.

“What, was I that blind to not notice her feelings until I confessed? Was it because I was so busy attending to her and the rest of the girls, like some kind of errand boy?” You scoff. Oga just shrugs at your words.

“I don’t know, Anon. But that’s all in the past now. I can only pray that the two of you live a life full of love and happiness. And I know you can give her that.” You thank Oga, and head back to your wife, who waved at you to come now that her friends had left.

--

That night, the two of you walked the beachside, finally able to share a moment alone together. It was a warm night, and the sea was calm despite the full moon hanging in the star strewn sky. The gentle rhythm of the ocean echoed in your ears as the two of you slowly strolled through the sands, leaving footprints behind you. You had always loved the ocean, and accompanying the gentle lapping of the waves at your feet was your wife by your side.

She was dressed in a white summer dress, which greatly complemented her thin figure. Her hands wrapped around your left hand as she nuzzled into your side lovingly. Her warmth emanated into you, softly contrasting the cold sea lapping at your feet. In silence the two of you walked, enjoying nothing but the company of each other, the unspoken comfort only heard in the waves of the sea.

As you reach the end of your stroll, Fubuki pulls away from you, walking ahead of you for a few steps before turning back to you.

Decorated as a picturesque background, the full moon hung above her, bathing her in soft light that accentuated her own beauty, evolving her simple beauty into one of breathtaking, ethereal, almost otherworldy elegance. How the moonlight seemed to be a perfect spotlight for her, how the breeze blew at her hair gently, turning it into something akin to snow billowing from her, and how her green eyes reflected the sparkles in the sea, as if she were one with the world encompassing body of water. She wasn’t just beautiful; she was everything you had desired. A woman who, while flawed, did her best, and to you, that was more than enough. You didn’t want perfection, you wanted her. And in those ocean green eyes, you saw an eternity in a moment, forever in a single second. She smiles at you, one so serene and gentle, and you could feel like your heart could burst at any moment, letting you die in her arms happily should you choose.

“Anon, I wanted to give you this.” She says as she pulls out a small box seemingly out of nowhere. She opens it and reveals a beautiful silver wristwatch nestled within.

“Fubuki, y-you don’t have to, you know that. The only thing I could ever ask from you is for you to be by my side.” You answer, still flabbergasted at her gift.

“I know you didn’t ask for anything, but you’ve given me everything and more. I just wanted to repay you with a small gift, for everything you’ve given me and everything to come. Please read the back of the watch, there’s a message there,” she says, before turning away in embarrassment, as depicted by her the twitching of her ears.

You take the watch out of the box and flip it around, feeling the engravings on the back of the face. You squint at them and bring it to the moonlight as you read them out silently;

“To you who has given me everything, may this gift symbolize all the times we will spend together, and until our bodies are dust, I will always be a part of you.

                                                                                                                                                             -Fubuki”

You couldn’t stop the tear that fell from your eyes, dissolving into the seafoam beneath you. You look up once more to your wife, who approaches you. You hold your arms out, receiving her and embracing her wholly. With the night being your only audience, you tell her the only thing you could;

“I love you, Shirakami Fubuki.”
