Work Text:
Kenma paused his work to look down at his phone, which had been pinging for the last ten minutes. Who the hell…
Kuro. Of course. Kenma sighed, opening his messages to tell Kuroo that he would be home soon and to stop spamming him, but what Kuroo said in his messages made him stop.

That got Kenma awake. He shook his head. He had to work. But the promise of apple pie made his heart surge, and he didn’t want to be alone for the next three hours as he worked.
He sighed. He’d just tell his board that he needed a few more days to finish the project. He was the CEO. He could do that. And if he couldn’t, oh well.
He turned off his PC and set his laptop into his backpack, picking up his briefcase as he looked at his reflection through the glass window. He looked terrible, hair tangled and clothes disheveled, huge eyebags sagging from his tired eyes.
He really needed to rest.
Shaking his head, he locked up his office and made his way to the elevator, leaning against the back as he fought to keep his eyes open.
…
Twenty minutes later, he arrived home, barely awake. He was surprised he didn’t crash into anything on the drive back, but that wasn’t his main concern. He now wanted apple pie. And to sleep. But mostly apple pie.
He fumbled with his key before finally unlocking the door, shutting it behind him and locking it with a sigh before turning around.
“There you are— are you okay?” Kuroo’s large grin turned into a concerned frown, his eyes narrowing as he inspected his lover. “Kitten, are you alright?”
“I’m fine,” Kenma yawned. “Can I have my pie now?” Kuroo shook his head.
“Not yet. I actually had something planned.” Kenma sighed.
“Tetsurou, you know I appreciate it, but I’m really not in the mood right now.”
“No, no, it’s nothing like that. I’ll do all the work, just come on.” He picked Kenma up without prompting, carrying him and his belongings to their shared room and setting him down on the bed.
“Let me just check something,” he murmured, slipping into the bathroom.
“Okay, you can come in,” he called after a moment. Kenma dragged himself up from the bed and into the bathroom, surprised when he saw the lights off, scented candles the only thing lighting up the room.
A bubble bath that smelled of lavender had been prepared, and an assortment of bath bombs at on the counter, waiting to be opened. “Kuro… what is all this?” He asked.
“I noticed you were working a lot more and coming home tired… I wanted to help you de-stress,” he murmured. Kenma shook his head, averting his gaze so Kuroo wouldn’t see the tears welling up in his eyes. “Are you okay? Hey, are you crying? I’m sorry, I-”
“I’m not mad, I just… nevermind, don’t worry about it. Let’s just do what you had planned.” Kuroo frowned, but agreed without much argument. Kenma started to take off his clothes, but Kuroo’s hands found his waist, and Kenma found himself frozen in place.
“Let me do it. Please.” Kenma was too tired to do anything else but nod, sighing as Kuroo removed his clothes gently one by one before removing his own and picking Kenma up bridal style, to the younger’s protest.
“Which bath bomb do you want?” He asked. Kenma hummed.
“Lavender…” he mumbled sleepily. Kuroo smiled, settling them both into the bath before beginning to wash them both.
Kenma was drowsy the entire time, only occasionally nuzzling into Kuroo’s hand or leaning back against his broad chest as the older washed his hair, undoing all the knots and tangles, careful not to pull or hurt his lover, apologizing when he did. “Let me know if I’m hurting you,” he murmured softly, earning a sleepy nod from Kenma.
Kuroo washed every part of him, murmuring gentle praises about how pretty he was and how much he loved him. Despite only being partially awake, a light pink color still dusted Kenma’s cheeks. “Kuro, I can wash myself, it’s really fine…” he tried to explain, but his protests were in vain, Kuroo refused to let him do it himself.
“But I want to do this, you deserve it, so just let me, okay?” Kenma sighed, but gave into his husband’s wishes, too tired to argue.
When Kuroo was finished with washing them both throughly, he dropped the bath bomb in and let them both relax with the scent of lavender swirling around them.
After a while, he noticed Kenma already half asleep, so he opened the drain and stood to wrap Kenma in the fluffiest towel they owned, gently and effectively drying the limp boy in his arms.
He set Kenma on the counter and began to dry his hair, making sure the blonde was okay, murmuring soft words as he did so. He then grabbed the bottle of lotion, murmuring a praise and kissing the spot before he applied the lotion.
He then dressed Kenma in his favorite hoodie and sweatpants, allowing the younger to cling to him like a koala. He smiled and kissed Kenma’s forehead, deciding he could clean up the bathroom the next day.
He gently set Kenma down on the bed, crawling in next to him and pulling the sheets up, smiling when Kenma curled up against him quietly before his eyes finally drifted shut.
…
Kenma woke up the next day feeling better than he ever had. The house smelled like pancakes, and he was about to get up when the door opened, revealing Kuroo holding a tray with two plates stacked with chocolate chip pancakes, syrup, and whipped cream.
There was a cup of coffee for him and a cup of tea for Kenma as well. “Oh, you’re awake,” Kuroo smiled. “Good morning, darling. Did you sleep well?”
“Mhm…” Kenma mumbled, mouth watering at the sight of the food. Kuroo chuckled as he followed Kenma’s eyes, setting the tray down on the nightstand.
“You really should take better care of yourself, you know. It hurts me to see you so… out of it.” Kenma frowned. He hated making his husband upset.
“I know, ‘m sorry, I…” he sighed. “I promise I’ll take better care of myself. Or at least try.”
“Thank you,” Kuroo murmured as he slipped in next to Kenma. “Now let’s eat,” he smiled as he pulled the tray so it sat between them.
Kenma hummed in agreement, more than happy to stuff his face with Tetsurou’s chocolate chip pancakes, which in his opinion, was the best food to ever exist, other than apple pie, of course.
“Someone’s hungry.” Kuroo teased.
“Well, the only thing I ate yesterday was breakfast and a granola bar so…” he shrugged as he sipped his tea.
“Do I need to personally come to your office just to make sure that you eat?” Kuroo sighed.
“No,” Kenma grumbled. “I’ll take care of myself,” he huffed, leaning against Kuroo’s shoulder.
“Good to hear.” Kuroo set the tray aside now that they had both finished their meal, and pulled Kenma into his lap. Kenma was more than happy to relax against his husband’s broad chest. “We should do this more often. The relaxation thing, I mean,” he explained.
“Mhm…” Kenma mumbled, eyes drooping.
“Hey, are you falling asleep?” Kuroo demanded. Kenma shrugged.
“Stop being so comfortable and maybe I won’t,” the blonde mumbled snuggling into his husband. Kuroo sighed, and Kenma smiled.
Apple pie could wait. He had a husband to spend time with.
