Chapter Text
It happened quite often. Some idiotic hero, a curious citizen, or a geek would try getting into Black Hat’s manor. They were always usually taken care of by Flug, who typically either used an invention to kill them immediately, or if he was in a certain mood, take them inside and torture them. However, today would be different.
Flug had notified his boss of this, and the both of them watched as this intruder began walking through the yard. It was the middle of the night, so they must have thought they were being sneaky. They were not. Black Hat glared out of the window, a stern expression on his face.
Flug looks over to the devil. “I can take care of them, sir.”
“No, Doctor…” Black Hat’s expression changes to a sinister grin. “It’s my turn.”
From how Black Hat was drooling, and the excited look in his eyes, Flug could tell that he was hungry. It was time for dinner.
It happened quite quickly. In the blink of an eye, Black Hat was not in the room anymore. The doctor looks out the window, seeing he was now already outside. It was hard to see what happened, but some noise could be heard, even from the inside of the house. A loud crunch, a scream, and then… Silence.
The scientist casually strolls out of the house, into the yard. The night sky made it hard to tell his surroundings, but he could see the outline of Black Hat, hunched over, wiping a dark liquid from his mouth. There was nothing left of whoever was unlucky enough to step near the devil, only a few drops of blood rolling down the devil’s chin.
Black Hat slowly stood up, looking over to his employee. “I would offer you some, but well, I’m finished here.”
Flug chuckles. “It’s alright sir, I prefer anything like that to be cooked before I eat it.” The man didn’t seem to think there was anything wrong with talking about cannibalism as if he were talking about regular food.
“Hm. Well, I suppose I understand.” The eldritch sighs. “Well then, that’s enough for me.”
The doctor smiled, glad his boss was feeling better now. Later, Flug could probably have some microwaved noodles anyway. And at least he offered him something.
“Anything else I can get you, Lord Black Hat?”
“No.” Black Hat replies. “I’ll be in my office.”
“Alright, sir.” Flug and his boss began walking back into the house. “W-Well, I’m glad you enjoyed your meal.”
“Hm.” Black Hat grins. “Yes, maybe you can join me next time.”
This was a surprise. A pleasant one, but still. Black Hat was inviting him to dinner? “Oh! Of course, sir!”
“I can cook your meal.”
“You can cook?”
The demon growls. “Of course I can, you idiot!”
“I wasn’t-”
“I know what I’m doing, Doctor.” The creature sighs. “Now then. You and me. Tomorrow night. I’ll cook. You bring the wine.”
“Wine?” Flug laughs. “Wait, this sound kind of like a date-”
Black Hat began to blush. “It is just for a business meeting.”
“Sure.”
“It is, you little-” Black Hat lifts up a hand and bonks Flug on the head, but much more gently than usual.
“Yes, I believe you, sir.” Flug was being smug.
“Do you want to eat dinner with me or not?”
“Yes, sir.”
“Then go on with your day and tomorrow, we’ll do that.”
“Of course!” The scientist says. “I’ll be getting back to work, see you tomorrow, then!” He cheerfully runs off, leaving Black Hat to walk to his office alone.
“Damn idiot,” Black Hat muttered to himself. “It’s… I-It’s just business.” He lies. “Yes, Just business.” He slams the door to his office behind him as he sits down in his chair. “It’s not like I think about him every single second of the day or any-” Black Hat began to say, before realizing that was what he was doing right now. “... Oh, son of a bitch.”
