Visions of Wedding Bells

Summary:

Y/n is the first person to receive a prophecy since La Casita was rebuilt and it’s not something even Bruno saw coming.

Notes:

This has been done a few times now but I just had to do my own version! I'm currently writing part 2. I love my little rat man. (The title may change since I don’t love it, if you have any better ideas for the title, let me know.)

Chapter 1: A Sandy Fate

Chapter Text

Y/n was the first one to sit in that circle of sand since La Casita was rebuilt. Their legs were tucked under them as Bruno set the incense piles up.

“Are you sure you want to do this? Anything that happens isn’t because I’m willing it to.” Bruno spoke softly, looking up through his eyelashes.

Y/n was too nervous to respond verbally, shaking their head slightly in agreement. They had heard the stories of and even remember seeing Bruno Madrigal and his supposedly terrifying miracle growing up. But Y/n knew the Madrigals, and if Mirabel trusted him, so did Y/n. Bruno sighed, finishing the preparations. He lit the spots between them, reaching his palms out and up. Y/n took them as sand and figures began to swirl around them.

Luisa, Isabela, and Y/n ran up towards la casita wide smiles on their faces. Isabela grabs Y/n’s hand and says something, her lips unreadable to Y/n. They wore wedding attire; Luisa and Isabela in matching dressed, Y/n in all white. As the trio approach La Casita’s doors, someone stands there arms wide as Y/n jumps into them. Their face was obscured, the only thing immediately noticeable was the white tux they wore.

The sand starts to waver and Y/n’s attention snaps back to the Madrigal across from them, his eyes glowed a bright green.

“Wait! Who is it? Can you see? Who is it?” Y/n speaks frantically at the man.

Bruno’s eyebrows crease as he tries to look closer but something was stopping him. He shook his head back and forth rapidly.

“No, I can’t see,” Bruno spoke more confused than anything. “I’m sorry.”

Maybe he was just out of practice after not doing visions for so long. Y/n stands, letting go of one of Bruno’s hands, straining to see anything. Suddenly their features began becoming clear and as fast as his face became clear, the sand fell around them. Bruno still sits on the ground, a green glowing tablet now in his hands.

“I didn’t get to see before the sand dropped,” Y/n sighed, looking at the tablet that only showed the back of their suitor’s head and their own smiling face.

“Neither did I,” Bruno knew it was wrong to lie, but he didn’t have it in him to tell them the truth.

He only knew the twenty-something year old a few months. How was he supposed to explain the town boogyman was their destiny? So, he left that part out. He told them they were going to be happy with who they marry, that they wouldn’t have anything to worry about. Y/n hugs Bruno tightly, similar to the tablet that was now discarded onto the sand. As quick as they hugged them, they were out of his seeing cave and down La Casita’s stairs to share the news with their best friends, his nieces.

The sand around him trembles and bounces the tablet beside him. La Casita wasn’t happy he lied. Bruno picks up the tablet, flipping it to its backside, seeing his own face smiling wide in the embrace. With a loud sigh, he shuffles to a standing position, brushing off the sand on his pants. He stops by the room that kept his bed, placing the tablet on his bed before making his way downstairs. He was mumbling to himself as he left his room.

“They don’t deserve that.” He whispered to himself.

“Who doesn’t deserve what?” Dolores was suddenly next to her tio very curious, “is it about Y/n’s prophecy?”

“What!? No! Where’d you get that idea?” Bruno’s eyes go wide, visibly worried.

“That’s what I thought! I’m going to tell them something is wrong!” Dolores went running down the stairs before being pulled back by her tio’s grip on her arm.

“You will not bring anything up. There isn’t anything to bring up.” Bruno looked her sternly in the eyes.

Dolores gives a short nod before wiggling free and running down the stairs. Bruno rubs his eyes as he descends the stairs and into the kitchen. Isabela suddenly passes him, pulling Y/n close behind her, saying something about having to find the perfect wedding outfit fabric. Looking into the kitchen, he sees his older sister, Julieta. She can instantly tell something was bothering him.

“What’s wrong, Brunito? It sounds like the vision went well,” Julieta spoke comfortingly, motioning for him to sit at the table.

“Yeah, it did. A little too well.” Bruno’s hands found his face, hiding it from his sister.

“Oh? What did it show?” Julieta sat across her brother.

Bruno mumbles something into his hands. Not even the warm arepas had him uncovering his face.

“It what?” Julieta prods.

Bruno’s hands slam the table as he says exasperated, “me! I saw me! I was the one they were hugging. The one in a wedding tux!”

A small squeak comes from the door. When the siblings looked, all they saw was the hem of a familiar red skirt. Bruno deflates and his hands find his face again.

“Now everyone is going to know,” Bruno mumbles into his hands.

Julieta pushes the plate of arepas closer the Bruno before standing and leaving to find the snooping Madrigal. By the time Julieta exits the kitchen, Dolores was already in front of Isabela and Y/n. Julieta takes a deep breath, approaching the friends.

“What are you all talking about?” Julieta asks as innocently as she can.

“Dolores was just telling us about the part of Y/n’s vision tio Bruno forgot to tell them,” Isabela says, arms crossing over her chest, irritation obvious on her face.

Julieta looks at Y/n, their face was unreadable. Behind Julieta, Y/n could see Bruno peeking out from behind the kitchen door before he quickly disappeared from sight. La Casita’s tiles began to tremble and before anyone was able to react, Y/n was being dragged towards the kitchen.
