Chapter Text
Today was finally the day Fawn was going to snatch that promotion gratefully and escape the confines of cleaning greasy tables and oddly sticky toilets within Bonnie bowl. He originally signed up for working at the ‘amazing’ Freddy Fazbear’s Mega Pizzaplex with the intention of working within parts and service or at least somewhere within maintenance but do to his lack of previous work experience, they slapped him down with a shitty Janitorial job.
He couldn’t complain to much, at least he even got a job- Okay no, fuck this it sucked. Considering today was the day he was going to supposedly get a promotion, he still dressed in his normal ‘scruffy’ attire. Fawn had short messy black hair that he had obviously cut himself due to the unevenness in some places but with a cap on, you couldn’t tell too much. The male had greenish hazel eyes with pinkish pale skin, along with a beauty spot under his lip to the right. Additionally, he also had a badly cut slit into his right brow and faint messy stubble across his cheeks and chin. To summarise, the Twenty one year old man basically looked like he was stuck in his Sixteen year old emo phase.
Despite the traditionally ‘feminine’ name, Fawn was far from graceful. His parents thought he was going to be a girl until the disappointing day of his birth where turns out the ultrasound scans were definitely wrong, that was indeed a penis.
Fawn eagerly leaned against the wall of his superiors office, watching the older man type away on his outdated laptop while occasionally looking up at Fawn with a judgemental look.
“Fawn Birchet- what’s your ID number?” The older man finally spoke a word, glancing up at the other with his continued judgemental look.
“Yes Sir- it’s uhhh,,,” his eyes trailed aside before quickly glancing down at his wrist, trying to subtly tug up his sleeve to look at the bad biro writing that he had scribbled onto his wrist from this morning. “88… uhh, 93.. 41.” Fawn muttered out, practically crossing his fingers that his new position would be something more within his skill range. He had worked here almost five months now which honestly was a lot seeing how most of the staff joined and fell like Dominos.
The older man’s head disappeared once more into the keyboard before finally shutting the screen and holding out a printed paper for Fawn to take. “congratulations. Your new station is within the Daycare. Required info is on here. Any complaints, take it elsewhere.” He spoke out before Fawn could even open his mouth to detest. “The daycare-“ Fawn repeated after the other, reaching out to take the piece of paper into his own hands. If he could slam his head against the desk, he would. Don’t get him wrong, he had never actually gone to the daycare but he knew as much that it’s where the younger kids went when their parents needed a break.
Fawn turned on his heals to exit the office, not saying thank you nor even another word to the other while slightly slamming the door behind him in a ‘rebellious sort of way.’ It was definitely gonna get him fired one day but he couldn’t help but see how far he could push it. Fawn looked down at the badly printed paper while he walked, needing to actually figure out what his new job was going to be.
- Daycare attendant Technician and maintenance -
He couldn’t help but pause in his tracks in shock for a moment. He had only ever seen ‘the daycare attendant’ in posters but he finally had grasped the job he had somewhat applied for in the first place. Didn’t spend two years in a technician college course, just to clean toilets after all. Maybe things were finally looking brighter?
Fawn practically skipped the hallways with a grin plastered to his cheeks as he made his way to the daycare entrance which was a door he had loosely seen in the past.
The male walked through the neon lit hallway, keeping his head down while walking past customers as the place was currently open- It was only around five in the afternoon after all and he wasn’t required to officially start till tonight but wanted to at least see what this ‘daycare attendant’ was like now.
Fawn followed his way around the outside of the large daycare hall, using his new pass to get through the barriers before arriving at the large brown doors that were sort of where the only entrance and exit into the play area was that wasn’t a slide. Fawn creaked open the door before stepping aside, glancing around the brightly coloured and lighted play centre for a moment before immediately noting down that this place was a living migraine. Sweaty kids, screaming and running around while parents sat behind the glass pretending to care when in reality, they probably wanted to go back to their miserable homes.
Fawn turned to the large black desk to his right, moving to lean his arms against it as he looked down at the female worker who sat behind. “Excuse me? I’ve been moved here in a new position and I don’t exactly know where to go.” He spoke, holding out the printed paper for her to look at. His eyes wondered down from her brown hair and pale skin to her red name badge that sat against her chest, reading the name ‘Jean.’ She let out a loud sigh, looking up from her computer screen and to gently take the paper from his hand. “Fawn?” A small chuckle escaped her lips upon reading his name, glancing up at him for a moment. He instinctively rolled his eyes, glancing aside as to avoid eye contact.
“Well, Welcome to the Daycare. You seem like you’re gonna love it here.” She smiled but voice was definitely sarcastic. “Sun mostly ponders around during opening hours before returning to his room around closing which can be entered through the theatre to my right. Moon’s currently unoperational but I assume that’s why they‘ve stationed you here.” She shrugged, handing back the paper.
Fawn couldn’t help but raise a brow, looking over to the play area. “It’s only listed as ‘the daycare attendant? There’s two?” He stared with a confused look for a moment, looking over at Jean. She opened her mouth to reply but nothing came out, glancing behind Fawn with a dull expression. “Yeah. There’s two.” Very helpful, thank you Jean.
Fawn pursed out his lips before exhaling from his nose. He was thankful to get a job within maintenance but this seemed like a lot of work already. It didn’t help that everyone was utterly useless in giving information so this would just have to be something he had to figure out on his own.
The male went to step back to turn to the large brown doors but was immediately greeted by the feeling of something hard behind him as he slightly bumped back into whatever it was. “Shit-,, sorry” Fawn quickly tried to divert from the fact he was bad at not swearing infront of customers, turning around swiftly to look at whoever he had walked into in order to apologise.
The male practically froze, his eyes trailing up at the 6 foot yellow animatronic that now stood infront of him with a grin plastered to his face. He made Fawn look like a short ass though he was around 5’8 himself.
The animatronic moved to place his hand on Fawn’s left shoulder, tilting his head to the side. “New friend, I’d appreciate it if you didn’t use such vulgar language in this vicinity.” The tall male grumbled out in a deepish voice before perking up the next second. “Welcome to the daycare!” He exclaimed, giving a way more energetic welcome then the woman behind the desk.
The animatronic moved to place his hands under Fawn’s arms before picking him up into the air like he wasn’t a ten stone man. Fawn’s eyes quickly widened before shifting to wiggle around and out of the others hold, plopping back down onto the floor. “What the hell man-“ he was honestly rather deeply embarrassed, a red flush spreading to his pale cheeks from the humiliation of having just been picked up like a child infront of so many people.
Jean moved to cover her mouth to conceal her laughter as she watched the interaction, knowing to stay behind the desk and it’s an area where Sun’s programming didn’t allow him to go.
Sun seemed unfazed by the fact that Fawn had thrashed himself out of his hold, keeping up his ‘joyful’ personality while slightly swaying to the side where he stood. He leaned down ever so slightly so his face would be at the same height as Fawns, holding out his hand to shake. “Names Sun, or you can call me Sundrop, Sunrise~ whatever! I’m happy to have you here new friend.”
Fawn glanced down at the others hand before hesitantly taking it in his own. It felt weird to shake his hand like they were two normal guys but he was more for that then being picked up. “Uhh.. it’s Fawn.” He replied, a small gasp leaving his lips as he felt his arm being tugged down and back up in a low-key aggressive handshake.
“Fawn! Like a baby deer, how cute!” Sun grinned, letting go of the others hand. Fawn honestly couldn’t tell if he was being mocked or if Sun was as naive as he seemed. He had finally gotten the job he wanted but at the cost of being stuck with this freak.
Fawn brushed off Sun’s comment, looking up at his creepyish face before sighing softly. “Where’s the other one? Moon?” He questioned, noticing Sun’s subtle swaying in his movement to stop for a moment. It was almost like he looked uncomfortable at the name mention. The animatronic’s uncomfortable stature quickly disappeared as he playfully shrugged before spinning on his heels and skipping back into the play centre to do his job of playing with the kids. More like scaring the kids unintentionally but no one seemed to care.
“Mr, mechanic. Daycare closes an hour before closing so if you want to do your job then be back at ten.” Jean’s voice was definitely annoying to Fawn. She sounded like she really didn’t want to be here which he could respect but still found her annoying. “Thanks.” Fawn replied with a sarcastic smile, turning to head out of the large brown doors. The repeating tune that echoed around the large room was bound to give him a headache yet he couldn’t help but hum a little to its intoxicating rhythm. It was definitely catchy.
After around five hours of lazing off in the staff rooms on his phone or having his hat tugged down in order to have a nap, he was finally ready to ‘start his job.’ Fawn shoved himself up tiredly even though he had practically done nothing all day. He moved to pull his phone back into his pocket before exiting the room and walking through the Atrium as a slow pace.
‘The Daycare is now closed, we hope you had a wonderful time and we look forward to your return. Fazbear’s Mega pizzaplex will close in 1 hour.’
The intercom loudly presented while guests made their way’s to the exit or started to finish up on their pizza or activities. It was amazing that this place even stayed open so late considering it was a place typically for kids though definitely had some older ‘fans.’
The large shutter doors to the daycare where now closed but due to his new pass, it was something he could easily get through. He waited a moment for the doors to creek up before shuffling under, slightly ducking his head under before entering the bright ass Daycare. The same annoying tune seemed to play on repeat even into the night and it looked like all the human staff had left, just leaving the S.T.A.F.F Bots to clean the general areas and so on.
Fawn moved to enter through the familiar large brown doors from earlier and shifting to place his keys and phone down onto the desk for now. This was definitely a sudden upgrade from his last job of cleaning toilets and honestly he couldn’t help but wonder why the old mechanic for the daycare attendant quit? And why they were to quick to put someone else into the position. This was the job he wanted in a way but even he could admit that this was a little out of his field. He mainly had a degree for computer repairing and barely any experience in robots and animatronics, yet the corporation didn’t seem to care. Just desperate to fill the role.
Fawn glanced around at the security desk area, his eyes wondering from the cabinet files and up to the torch box on the wall, next to it however, being a small light switch of sorts with the icons of a minimalistic sun and moon on each side of the switch. He moved to hold his hand out, reaching towards the switch before a large bang from behind caused him to practically jump ten feet in terror.
He quickly turned around on his heels, eyeing down the large 6 foot animatronic that stood on the opposite side of the desk, his hands down on the counter. “New friend! You’re back~!” Sun gleefully chanted.
“Uh yeah.. hey sun.” He half heartedly smiled, raising his hand to his chest in order to sort of take a breather from the jump scare he had just received.
“Please don’t touch that. I have one rule here that you must abide by like every other kid! Keep the lights.. ON.” His voice almost sounded a little dark towards the end but he was definitely being serious.
‘He’s afraid of the dark?’ Fawn practically scoffed to himself but still made note. Now that he was no longer surrounded by the screams of excited kids and loud noises from others, he could finally focus on getting a better look at the other with it just being them ‘alone.’
“Oh what’s this?” Sun’s attention diverted, moving to pick up the iPhone that had been left on the side. He held it up in the air like it was a foreign object but new very much what it was from the other human staff. He sort of just wanted to mess around with the new guy a bit.
“Put it down-“ Fawn quickly shuffled around the desk, reaching up and grabbing his phone out of suns hands. Sun immediately took the opportunity of Fawn no longer being behind the desk, to grab him by his arm and begin tugging him along deeper into the play area.
“Sun- let go-“ Fawn stumbled out as he was slightly ragged along by the taller animatronic. “We can finger paint, play games, drink fizzy pop until our heads,, EXPLODE!” Sun bursted out with a slight shout, letting go of Fawn’s hand once they had gotten to the area near the ball pit.
Fawn finally managed to stand up straight from after being tugged like a rag doll, giving off a slight glare to the other while looking down at his wrist. He didn’t want to seem like a pussy but ouch that hurt. “I’m not here to play,, I’m here to check out how you’re running.” Fawn corrected, looking around at the small tables that surrounded for the kids before stepping back a little just to sort of test out the squishyness of the padded floor.
“Running? I can run fine!” Sun practically jumped, extending his arms up into the air while he lightly swayed around once more. “I can see that.” Fawn raised his brow, looking the other up and down for a moment. “You’re kind of dirty though, you could probably do with a clea-“ “Be quiet.” Sun interrupted, moving to raise one hand up to hit his forehead lightly. He quickly however put his hands out defensively as Fawn gave him a confused look. “Oh not you, sorry!” Sun stumbled to apologise, feeling slightly bad.
“Why did you,,, like- hit yourself?” Fawn moved to step closer to the other though was a little cautious of his unpredictable behaviour.
“A clean sounds great!” Sun changed the subject, placing his hands onto his cheeks while tilting down to Fawn’s height. “Cleanliness is happiness.” Sun sparked, the sound of bells ringing around every time he moved.
This guy seemed unbearable at best. He was eccentric and only did what he wanted but at least he wasn’t aggressive? Even though he did kind of get a fright from the desk slam earlier. Sun moved to hop up onto one of the sturdy kids desks, swinging around in a circle motion as he held his arms out like he was pretending to balance. He kinda seemed bored in a way? I mean staying in this dumb place was bound to be a bit of a buzz kill. Looking at the same walls everyday of your ‘life.’
Fawn moved to head back to the security desk area, looking under the desk and In some cupboards before finding a small tool box of sorts. He moved to tug out the small red box before letting out a loud grumble at the padlock that sat over the latch. Things just couldn’t be easy. How was he supposed to do his job if he wasn’t even given a place like parts and service to do it.
“Sun, come here.” Fawn called out, moving to place the tool box up onto the desk while also thankfully finding a pack of disinfectant cleaning wipes. It wasn’t what he needed to clean the other but it was a start for now. ‘If I do my Job so well here maybe they’ll actually move me to parts and service.’ Fawn smirked at the idea, moving to push himself up to sit his ass down on the large desk. His legs slightly dangled over from how tall the desk was which was slightly embarrassing. He crossed his legs up and made a motion for the animatronic to come over.
Sun of course listened, moving to stand next to the other who was sat on the desk. At least at this height, Sun didn’t really have to lean down to match him. Fawn pulled out one of the wipes from the pack, holding his hand out for the others. “Give me your hand, you’re covered in scribbles and like.. glitter? Do the kids draw over you or do you draw on yourself.” He joked, a small laugh leaving his lips but sun didn’t reply. Guilty as charged.
Sun leaned against the side of the desk but held his hand out for Fawn to take. Fawn rested the others hand on his thigh while taking his upper arm and beginning to scrub the others metallic skin in attempt to get rid of the doodles in red crayon and markers.
“It’s nice to have a new friend after closing hours. I hate being on my own.” Sun muttered and for once Fawn felt kind of bad. It was weird how ‘humanoid’ these animatronics really were. It honestly made him feel unsure at times that these were really just robots.
“This stuff won’t come off with just wipes.” He shook his head and looked up at the others face, moving to reach out and hold one of his spikes gently before using the wipe in an attempted to scrub at the marks on his face. Sun slightly tensed at how close the other was but allowed him only because of how gentle he was being.
Oh Sunny, you get the slightest touch of physical affection and practically melt like a baby.
A deep voice echoed through Sun’s mind but it was all to familiar to him.
Sun immediately felt embarrassed from Moon’s words. “No I don’t-“ he responded but quickly looked at Fawn who looked up at him when he spoke. He kept forgetting that others can’t hear what happens in his mind.
“I didn’t say anything-?” Fawn pondered confused but the other once more shook his head in protest. “I know, I’m sorry.” He nervously apologised again.
“Who are you speaking to?” Fawn finally questioned with a confused expression, letting go of the others face and returning his hands to his lap. “Moon?“ he asked, trying to piece it together.
Sun awkwardly shuffled uncomfortably. “Yess…?” He replied in an odd way. It definitely seemed kind of crazy but they really were two personalities- two different people split but sharing in one body.
“Right okay- so you guys are like telepathic? Or?” Fawn was definitely utterly confused by this. He just assumed there was two animatronics after all. “No, no. We’re both here.” Sun quickly corrected. “He’s not allowed in control though- he’s been .. different recently.” Sun admitted. He didn’t know why he was spilling this to the worker he had just met but something was telling him that he could trust him. Fawn looked like an edgy dickhead but Sun could tell he was caring.
“This is weird but I get it- I guess.” Fawn moved to brush his hand through his hair with a puzzling expression. “So you’re both in the same body? That’s weird ass design choice.” On paper it sounded like a cool idea but two personalities in one body must have been difficult. It was only an animatronic sure, but the bots here were all weird. Weirdly sentient? It was either amazing programming or some weird fantasy shit was happening here.
Fawn tried to just ‘shrug’ this off, looking over at the locked tool box. “Well I can’t do anything to ‘fix’ moon until I have my tools so I guess that’s tommorow Job.” Fawn shuffled off the counter and onto his feet, moving to pick up his stuff before looking back at Sun who seemed to anxiously hold onto his arms like he regretted telling Fawn things. He looked like he needed comfort, a friend or just somebody here with him right now but Fawn felt like he couldn’t help. He was always terrible at comforting. “Uh right… see you tomorrow Sun.” Fawn slightly waved before quickly scurrying to leave through the large brown doors.
Leaving sun to himself and to his own thoughts.
