Chapter Text
As soon as they gone home Lorraine headed off to their bedroom without a word. “Lorraine?” Ed called after her, Immediately putting down the bags so he could follow after her “Lorraine-“ he hurried up the stairs after her but their bedroom door was immediately shut and locked “Lorraine come on, Honey please speak to me.” He placed his head against the wooden door.
“Lorraine please,,” he Called softly once he got nothing back, he knew Lorraine was on the other side of the door silently crying.
He wanted to know what she saw but he knew asking would make her see it again, he couldn’t do that to her. Not now, not ever. If she wanted to tell him, he would wait for it.
The front door opened again and Ed lifted his head to turn to the door “Daddy!” Judy called out to him and he moved to gather her in his arms “Heey Judy bug.” He smiled at his daughter “Is Mommy alright?” She asked as she looked back at their bedroom door.
“She’ll be alright, Mommy just needs a bit of space right now.” His smile remained soft even though it pained his heart, he held onto his own words and hoped that she would be okay.
“Why dont you and I try and make some dinner? See if we can get mommy to eat something, shes had a long day.” He set her down.
“Yeah! We can make her favourite!” Judy hopped off the to kitchen and ed looked at his mother inlaw with a sigh “she’ll be alright Dear, just stay with her okay?” She gave Ed a reassuring smile.
“Ill never leave her, I promise.” He looked back at their bedroom door
“But hey, Thanks for looking after Judy for us.”
“Its always a pleasure, Ill be happy to take her if you two need some time to yourselves.” She said and then they gave their final goodbyes before Ed headed off to the kitchen to find Judy attempting to pull out some pans, He gave a gentle chuckle “alright lets get this show on the road shall we?”
-
Lorraine stood with her back against the door, Covering her mouth as she held back her tears.
She couldn’t stop thinking about what she has saw,, she was lost and more afraid than anything.
Was what she was doing going to hurt Ed?
The more they take these cases the more they risk,, she couldn’t loose her family. Not now, not ever.
She listened to Eds soft voice through the door and it was so warming that she wanted to open the door,, more than anything,,, But she needed to figure all this out.
Once Ed had walked away from the door she slowly walked over and sat on their bed, her hands running along the sheets.
She drew her hands back and basically hugged herself, she had to tell Ed but she couldn’t even speak. The only thing that came out when she opened her mouth was a sob and she couldn’t let Ed see her this time.
Her heart would break seeing him watch her cry over his death that he didn’t even know she saw.
She wanted to forget it, she knew that what she did- no what They did helped people but how many times would they get hurt doing it?
She slowly laid down on the bed and hugged Eds pillow, tears falling from her eyes as she inhaled her scent.
What was she going to do?
-
Once Ed and Judy had finishing making the food they dishes it out “I think we did a good job! Why dont you do sit at the table Judy, Ill be with you in a second.” He smiled at his daughter and Judy smiled back, Grabbing her own plate and she headed off to the table.
Ed took Lorraines plate and slowly walked to the door “Lorraine? Are you awake?” He quietly waited for an answer although he knew that he probably wouldn’t get one.
“We made some food,, Ill leave the plate on the little stand out here for you. Please come out Hun, we can help you. I love you.” He told her and he meant it as well, he would do everything in his power to help her and he loved her more than anything in the world.
He placed the plate down on the little stand by their door, Moving a plant over slightly before he moved to return back to Judy so he could eat with her.
“Did she like it?” Judy asked with hope “Im not sure yet, But Im Certain She’ll love it.” He reassured their Daughter beforehand they began eating…
Once they were finishes, Ed went to check on the plate and it remained in its place. He moved back to the kitchen so he could gather some plastic wrap to cover the plate.
He was upset that she wasn’t eating but its alright, She could be asleep. She’ll see it when she comes out to eat. He moved back into the hallway and covered the plate before leaving it yet again.
-
Lorraine sat and listened to every word that Ed had to say, hearing him say he lived her, melted her heart and made her want to cry again but she refused.
She didn’t feel like she could eat right now, right now all she felt was sick.
She knew she wouldn’t be able to stomach anything and it made her feel bad especially for worrying Ed more.
-
Ed decided to let Lorraine have her space, he didn’t wanna continue to bug her even if it was eating at him.
Judy suggested he had a sleep over in her room and that’s exactly what he did.
His kid fell asleep in his arms and that gave him some comfort, He hoped Lorraine was alright.
