Notes:

Hi everyone! This is my first fanfic I’ve published on Ao3, so the tagging may not be perfect, (I’ll edit it later if I figure out how). Thanks for clicking on this fic, I hope you like it. :)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Piper tried not stare at Annabeth, because she knew it was wrong. She has a boyfriend, and so do you! But right now, sitting on the Argo II with Annabeth drifting off to sleep on the couch, clutching a book in her hands, Piper couldn’t help it. The way her blonde hair curled, shaping her face was absolutely gorgeous.

Piper closed her eyes and tried to breathe.

I don’t have a crush on Annabeth. Piper said to herself. She’s my friend. I’m straight. I like Jason! But no matter what she said to herself, she couldn’t convince herself that it was true.

Piper knew that she didn’t just want to be friends with Annabeth. Because if she wanted to be friends with Annabeth, then she would be able to go to sleep without pretending Annabeth was lying next to her. Annabeth seemed to make her way into every daydream Piper had.

It was stupid, of course, but she just couldn’t stop thinking about her.

Out of all the people she could crush on, why did it have to be Annabeth?
She knew Annabeth was straight because she had asked her. But everything she did just made Piper like her more.

She was so smart, understanding and absolutely beautiful. If she was being honest, right now Piper just really wanted to reach over and hold Annabeth’s hand. To reassure her that everything will be okay. But she wouldn’t. Because that was wrong.

One day, Piper mused, saving the world wouldn’t be her problem. Piper wouldn’t be pining after Annabeth, Jason would date a girl who could actually love him, and maybe…maybe Piper could be in a happy relationship with someone.

Because liking Annabeth felt like hell. Even though sometimes it felt like she would always like Annabeth, Piper knew that some day she could put it behind her, and liking Annabeth would be history. But not right now, now she still really liked her.
