League of Villains nominated for Best New Artist
This awards season has granted a number of newcomers their nominations for the title best new artist, but in our predictions we have to say that the League of Villains have a strong chance at coming for the title.
The band, commonly short handed to the League or the acronym LoV, rose to mainstream attention after their first studio album Vanguard’s title song became a tiktok trend. Founded by keyboardist/bassist Shigaraki Tomura and lead singer Dabi, the duo were later joined by their drummer Toga Himiko, lead guitarist Spinner, rhythm guitarist Twice, and bassist Magne.

Just played the DLC for hyrule warriors, and it was worth the money imo. It's pretty hectic even for a warriors game, and some spawning glitches were pretty annoying but I still liked it. 7/10

So let me get this straight: anti hero society/authority band LOV’s lead singer Dabi who almost nvr uses social media had a secret twitter account where he’s very active. He accidentally (purposefully?) outed his secret account to call his bassist (’s dog?) a sl*t. To later reveal a possible relationship with Number 2 hero hawks and to potentially be the thought to be dead son of number 1 pro hero Endeavor (who made no comment).

Can’t Spell Love without LoV
If you’ve been following the League of Villains, then you know their latest single Sweet Dreams, Hosu City is a little out of their usual content. The genreless band known for anti authority hits and dystopian inspired narratives, Sweet Dreams, Hosu City is a definite outlier in their discography.
The usual hard bass lines and drumline are replaced with solid piano chords and violins in this ballad. And yes, you heard it right. The League of Villains wrote a love ballad.
Now you have to live under a rock to have missed the social media blowout when the internet found out that the League frontman and lead vocalist, Dabi (the formerly thought dead son of number one hero Endeavor) was in a long term relationship with Japan’s very own number two Pro Hero Hawks(for a recap, check out this article). So there wasn’t much doubt as to who the song might be addressed to, especially considering the couple supposedly met at a bar in Hosu City. However to any doubters, the music video accompanying the song makes it quite clear who Dabi is wishing Sweet Dreams to.
The video seems to be taken solely off of the people’s phones capturing shaky but endearing moments of our favorite singer/hero couple. Some videos seem to have been taken off of Snapchat as identified through the use of captions while others are just humorous in themselves as we get insight on how it feels to third wheel DabiHawks.
If you’re feeling lonely this Valentine’s Day, this video will not help.
But it’s the outro to the song that is a guaranteed laugh and fun look into the creation process of the song and video. Closing off the song’s instrumental with a fade out to a final video recorded by Dabi, himself where he rambles in front of a keyboard about the song seemingly when he first got the idea.
“And Shiggy can come in with strings or something on the second verse. Like doo-doo-doo or whatever. And it’ll be like an introduction to pals through the instruments if that makes sense.” He looks directly into the video camera, blue eyes slightly glazed by either alcohol or exhaustion. “Finish the simp song when you wake up, Touya. It kinda sounds nice.”
The video then ends in a comic sans font giving the video editing credit to lead guitarist, Toga Himiko and Video credit to a string of names mostly belonging to the league with standouts like Number 5 hero, Miruko and son of Number 1 hero, Todoroki Natsuo.
Are we to expect more love songs from the League? Who knows, but let’s enjoy this one since we have it.
