Work Text:
Victor smiles, pressing his nose against his partner's back. He can smell his body wash and natural scent clearly, along with the faint undertone of the first frost.
It's a cold morning; he can tell based off of the chilly bite on his cheeks. He's warm, though, pressed against the man he loves, who is slowly waking up beside him. A smile makes it's way to his face as he wraps his arms around the other's middle.
A soft chuckle from the other lets him know that his boyfriend is awake, now. Which means two things:
He's going to get attention, and he's going to get breakfast. Even if his lover will leave his side to cook, it's a sacrifice he's willing to make.
"Mornin', Vic," Ben says sleepily, rolling over. "Did you sleep alright?"
Victor takes a moment to appreciate the man Ben's become. He's still a bit chubby, but he's matured and gained muscle. His hard work is paying off, and he seems to be happier.
He has stubble on his chin and cheeks. His jaw has become stronger. And he's taller than Vic, now.
He still remembers the little boy he was that day on the kissing bridge, and the way Vic viewed him.
Eleven years can really do a lot.
"Mhm. Great, actually," he replies, snuggling closer when he feels a chill. "God, it's cold," he complains. "Good thing you're warm."
"I'm glad I'm able to warm you up, sleepyhead." Ben presses a kiss to the top of his head. He pulls away to look into Vic's eyes, and pushes a strand of his blonde hair out of his face. Then he runs his fingers through it.
Victor hums.
"What are you thinking for breakfast?" Ben asks, stilling his hand and simply resting it on the side of Vic's face. "I'm feeling french toast today."
Vic opens his eyes and contemplates for a moment before smiling and nodding.
"That sounds perfect," he replies.
"I'll get it going, then," Ben says. He sits up and stretches, and he yawns. Then he smiles down at Victor. "You'd better not be asleep again by the time it's made."
"No promises," Vic says. He lays his head down, chuckling when he hears Ben sigh.
Today's going to be great.
