Chapter Text
Their third date just ended but Minha still couldn't believe what happened.
She couldn't believe that Yang Gyosunim—the introverted bear who'd rather take the stairs than ride an elevator filled with people—kissed her. And no, it wasn't a sweet innocent peck on the cheeks or a gentle caress on the lips. It was a deep and passionate kiss that HE INITIATED.
It may have taken her by surprise but she gladly reciprocated the gesture, giving him a quick peck before she went ahead and opened the door to her apartment.
She admitted that it was a bold move for Yang Gyosunim to kiss her on their third date but she was still extremely happy to be on the receiving end of it. Even just the sheer image of Seok Hyeong grabbing her by the waist and bringing her closer as their lips slowly crash into one another makes her heart beat go crazy.
The sweet taste of his lips and his pine-scented perfume lingered in her mind. She got so lost in her thoughts about their makeout session, it looked like she was frozen in place. Sensing no movement, her automated lights in the doorway switched off, making her snap out of her daydream.
Finally coming to her sense, she rushed to plop herself down on the living room sofa and grabbed her phone. She wanted to thank Yang Gyosunim for the dinner and movie date, which was really just an excuse to contact him immediately.
"Gyosunim... Thank you for tonight. I had a really great time ☺ Are you home yet? ahhh wait you're probably still driving right now 😅 nevermind this text. Drive safely~" She hits the send button, throws her phone onto the sofa, and resumes the breakdown she was having earlier about their kiss.
A few minutes later her phone starts to ring.
Riiiing riiiiing riiiiing
[Yang Seok Hyeong Gyosunim is calling]
As soon as she sees his name, butterflies start twirling around her stomach. She hastily accepts the call and a warm, sweet voice is heard, "Oh, hi Minha-yah... me too."
Her nose scrunches up and her eyebrows furrow, "Hmmm... me too? What do you mean, Gyosunim?"
"Me too... I had a really great time too, Minha-yah."
Minha felt a sudden rush of blood creep up her cheeks.
Throughout the years she's been under his wing as his mentee, she learned quite a lot about Yang Gyosunim. But today was the day that she learned about the most intriguing fact about him—that not only could Yang Gyosunim deliver babies perfectly but he could also deliver lines that could make a person go into cardiac arrest. It was precious information that not even Dr, Bong would know!
"Yang Gyosunim is truly full of surprises," Minha thought to herself. She chuckles lightly and continues on with their late night conversation; something that has now become part of their nightly routine ever since he called her after their first date.
"Bwoya~ Gyosunim, you're such an expert at making my heart flutter."
Seokhyung laughed at her reply. Minha's blunt personality was one of the few things he loved about her, aside from her cute aegyo of course.
But despite her adorable reply, there was something she said that threw Seokhyung off.
"Oh but, Minha-yah, what's with the 'Gyosunim?' You didn't call me that earlier." He said sulkingly, trying his best to convey his pouting across the phone.
"Hmmm... waeyo?"
"I liked what you called me earlier better than gyo-su-nim." Seokhyung said as he emphasized the last word to make sure Minha understands his message.
Minha rewinds the their entire date in her mind, including the kissing part just for the heck of it, and then it hits her.
"Ahhhh... I like calling you that way too, op-pa."
Seok hyeong smiled at the sound of Minha's gentle voice. To be honest, he was a bit anxious to hear her reply, thinking it would make her feel embarrassed and uncomfortable. But when she uttered the two syllables with ease, his nerves calmed down yet his heart did the exact opposite.
"I should change your name in my phone too then... you know... for uniformity" Minha continues.
His heart skips another beat. He's been single for so long that he's forgotten about how little things like changing nicknames make you feel all giddy on the inside.
It took him a second to regain his senses and think of a reply, "Yeah that makes sense. You should save me as Oppa then."
"Oppa? Hmmm let's see. I know a lot of oppas so it'll be a bit too typical. Ah I know! I'll just save you as 'My Oppa' then."
"Choa..." Seokhyung was at a loss of words. Some may know him to be a man of few words but at that point, he couldn't even think of anything other than the 'choa.'
He continues, "Then should I save you as 'Minha-yah <3 (hearteu)'?"
It baits an immediate reply from Minha, "No! That's too impersonal and boring. Uhmmm... how about 'Honey' like the one that Pooh eats?"
"Oh, that's perfect! I'll save you as 'Honey' then. Is that fine with you, honey?"
"Yes, oppa."
A moment of silence passes between the two but is then swiftly cut by the sound of their laughter with both of them blushing at the thought of calling each other by their new nicknames.
She then continues, "By the way oppa, since we're dating now..." —as she said those words, every part of the sentence she uttered still felt so surreal to her— "...should we discuss about our relationship boundaries at work? I mean, it's not that I'm ashamed of our relationship. I just think it's better for us to separate our personal and professional lives." Minha said in one breath.
"Calm down, Honey. I understand. I agree with anything as long as you're comfortable with it." He's been longing for so long to be able to call Minha something other than 'my resident' and now he finally can. The thought made Seokhyung grin from ear to ear.
"Then... let's start with the first rule: no kissing. Hugging and holding hands are okay as long as nobody is around."
Seokhyung didn't say a word but a very audible grunt was heard. He wanted to contradict the first rule but instead kept quiet for Minha's sake. "I can just wait for our shifts to end and kiss her outside work. It's fine." he told himself.
"Second rule is we can't tell anyone at work about us. Well... except for your friends and Gyeoul-ah. They're the only ones you told about us right, oppa?"
"Ah I still have to tell Junwan and Ikjun but yeah it's just them."
"Okay so... third rule is we can't call each other by our nicknames. I'll call you Yang Gyosunim and you can call me Minha-ssi, Minha-ssaem, or Chu Minha seonsaeng."
"Yes, Honey. I won't call you Honey at work, Honey~"
"Bwoya is this what a bear's aegyo sounds like?" Minha thought to herself. For a moment, she second-guessed herself; could she really follow the rules she's making? How could she stop mooning over her oppa if he's this good at aegyo-ing?
"Yah Chu Minha, you have to focus! Oppa may be cute but you can do it!" She assures herself and quickly reorganizes her thoughts, "Uhmmm... I think that covers it all. So, no kissing, no telling other people about us, and no calling each other by their nickname. Okay, oppa?" Minha lists down the rules as she counts them using her fingers.
"Araso, Honey~. Oppa will make sure to follow those rules at work. I promise!"
Minha smiled and fell silent as she heard Seokhyung's more than enthusiastic reply.
In the end, a lengthy conversation about their nicknames and relationship boundaries was all that Minha needed for her to finally take in the wonderful truth—that she was dating Yang Seokhyung. After waiting for almost 2 years, he finally returned her feelings.
Seok hyeong clears his throat and Minha is once again brought to reality.
"Honey, it's already 12mn. You should rest already. I know you're schedule's been hectic lately. I'll call you tomorrow, okay?" Seok hyeong didn't want their conversation to end but he knew the hardworking resident needed to catch up on sleep since the OBGYN ward has been pretty busy in the past week.
"Okay, oppa. I'll rest now. Good night. You better not forget about the rules tomorrow." Minha says with a light chuckle at the end.
"Yes. I'll make sure to play by your rules, Honey. Good night. See you tomorrow."

I mean, there are only three rules. How hard can they be to follow, right?
