Work Text:

Dizzy.

Probably just one way to describe how Yeonjun feels whenever their Math subject is up.

“Beom, I seriously just hate that subject! I don’t even know how people do well in that!” Yeonjun whines to his only-soulmate-best friend-ever, “Hyung, you know I hate it too but the difference with us is that I DO care about my grade in Math and you don’t” He replies playfully. “I used to, but I just gave up that’s why!” Yeonjun cheekily replied. “I just wish someone would be an angel and teach me Math” He added.

They were seated in the cafeteria, waiting for their next class. But the problem is Yeonjun DOES NOT want to go to their next class. This leads us to Beomgyu having to force him to stop being so dramatic because they only have a few minutes left until they’re late for their subject. This also leads us to Yeonjun being more dramatic that also resulted in the both of them being late for Yeonjun’s favorite subject of all time! Math.

Usually, their teacher would just ignore the latecomers and proceed with her lesson for the day. But she was extra bratty today, as Yeonjun says, and decided to make the late comers solve a math problem that they had discussed yesterday. Yeonjun felt the stress wash over him just by looking at the problem that they are supposed to solve. He looked at Beomgyu, the fear visible in his eyes, but his best friend had already started solving. He stared at him and fortunately caught his attention, they communicated with their eyes, Yeonjun telling Beomgyu that he’s gonna pass out anytime soon to Beomgyu telling him to just start doing it. Unfortunately, their teacher caught them staring at each other longer than they intended to and scolded them, “Is the problem on your friend’s face, Mr. Choi?” she asked with that bratty voice she uses every time. And now Yeonjun actually likes the idea of him passing out because their teacher just embarrassed him in front of their whole class. He loves his classmates tho, they probably knew what Yeonjun felt because no one laughed nor chuckled. Eventually, Beomgyu finishes his and moved closer to Yeonjun to help him solve his problem. This leads us to a more annoyed math teacher that told Beomgyu to sit down and told Yeonjun to start answering already because they don’t have all day. Yeonjun started to shake, tears started to fall from his eyes until he heard someone call their teacher’s attention.

“Miss, I think there is something wrong with the problem, may I go there and check?” A very polite classmate of his had asked, and that seemed to lighten up miss bratty math teacher’s mood because she allowed him. He went closer to Yeonjun’s spot and pretended to check the problem, he even faked erasures to make it look like there is something wrong with the problem. It was all fake because the truth is, he taught Yeonjun what to do. He whispered to him the right way to do it, even the final answer before he told their teacher that it’s okay now, and went back to his seat. After what almost felt like an hour, Yeonjun finished his problem with a pale face. His teacher told him to go back to his seat and now Yeonjun feels like he’s going to cry. Probably because of the fact that he was able to finish the math problem or because he can’t forget what the boy told him earlier.

“Hey, it’s okay, just relax. You’re doing well.”

Their math class came to an end which is also their last class, which also means they can go rest or cry at home. He wanted to thank the angel boy that saved his ass earlier. Before he even get to stand, a note was placed on his table, he looked up only to see a (real!) angel above him grinning awkwardly, dimples showing. The said boy gave the note and left quickly after.

“Wait!” Yeonjun tried to call the boy’s attention but it was too late.

He looked at the note, it was cute, written on a sticky note with bunny prints on it. He reads it, “I can help you with math if you want to, no pressure tho, i just wanna help” the note says, ending it with the boy’s name and a smiley face. To say that Yeonjun was blushing and smiling way too hard was an understatement. His best friend might have seen a glimpse of him looking like a lovesick person and asked, “Yeonjun Hyung, what’s wrong with your face? Do you have a fever? Oh gosh, look I know people would eventually forget about what happened today, and I’m sorry because miss made me sit and I didn’t get to help you out please forgi-” Beomgyu rambles, “Hey Beom, I’m okay, also it’s not your fault she got extra bratty today, don’t blame yourself” He chuckled, reassuring his best friend that none of this is his fault. “Anyway, do you know Soobin? Did we ever have a classmate that looks super cute and he even got dimples, gosh he’s perfect!” Yeonjun asked, very interested. “Soobin? The tall guy that looks like the nicest person in the world? Because yeah we do, he is also the best student when it comes to math. Why do you ask?” Beomgyu answered without much enthusiasm like it’s something everyone already knew about.

“YOU KNOW SOOBIN? THEN WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME ABOUT HIM?” Yeonjun gasped dramatically.

“Um, because you never cared? I actually did tell you about him but you just kept on ranting about how hard math is and how a pain it is in your ass.” Beomgyu huffed.

Yeonjun clears his throat, “Well, um, okay, anyway, he helped me earlier. Remember when he told miss that there’s something wrong with my problem?”

“Yeah” Beomgyu answered briefly.

“Well, there’s actually nothing wrong with it, he just went there to teach me how to solve it. And you won’t believe what I’m about to say next. He also told me to just relax and that I’m doing great! I think he’s my angel!” Yeonjun tells him.

“Woah, Hyung, I can’t believe you actually experienced that. You know, Soobin hates interacting with people, you’re truly one of a kind.” He adds.

“And that’s not all of it, he also gave me this, asked me if I wanted him as my math tutor.” Yeonjun smiled, proud of himself for achieving that Soobin interaction.

“YEONJUN HYUNG YOUR PRAYERS HAVE BEEN HEARD! IT’S TIME TO CELEBRATE YOUR WIN!” Beomgyu shouts dramatically. Yeonjun joined him not long after, and that’s how his day ended.

The next day, Yeonjun approached Soobin and accepted his help. Their first schedule of tutoring was also after their class which Yeonjun looks forward to.

Yeonjun’s classes were surprisingly fast today, or maybe he just stared at Soobin for too long and ended up getting distracted by his beauty.

“Beomie, are you coming with us?” Yeonjun asked his best friend excitedly, “Oh, sorry Hyung, I need to finish some of my paper works that are due tomorrow, can’t stay” He answered, “What a bummer, it’ll be more fun with you, but don’t worry! You can come with us next time!” Yeonjun added.

They part ways there and now Yeonjun and Soobin were left alone together.

“So where’d you wanna go?” Yeonjun asked with his sweet sweet smile.

“Up to you, whatever place makes you comfortable, Yeonjun-ssi” The tall boy answered shyly.

“Call me Hyung! And I’m not even supposed to pick the place since you are already being super nice to me but if you insist, then let’s go to a quiet cafe that I know!” He grabbed Soobin’s wrist and led the way.

Yeonjun IS NOT lying when he tells you that he actually understands math when Soobin was the one to teach him. Maybe because of his very calm voice, or his very cute face, or his tiny compliments to Yeonjun whenever he answered correctly. Or maybe Soobin is just the perfect person to ever exist. During their short breaks, Yeonjun would occasionally flirt with Soobin that made the tall buy a blushing mess. It’s cute, and Yeonjun thinks that he could get used to this.

Days and weeks passed, they still continue their math lessons every Tuesday and Friday after class. Beomgyu would also come with them whenever he’s free and whenever he feels like annoying the two of them. Soobin’s lessons were actually a big help to Yeonjun and Beomgyu because they do understand the lessons now. Yeonjun still curses math for being hard but laughs it off after. The three of them got close and they were all comfortable with each other. However, Beomgyu knows that something is up between the two of them. He also knows that they both know that as well but neither one of the two is brave enough to bring it up. Sure, Yeonjun is indeed a flirty guy. He flirts with his best friend in a joking manner, flirts with their classmates, but it’s different when it comes to Soobin. Whenever he looks at him, endearment is always visible in his eyes. He looks at him like he’s the most valuable person that was ever created. Yeonjun also loved to throw corny jokes to people, so they were both very surprised when Soobin threw one. They didn’t get it at first, poor Soobin, he even needed to explain because they’re both dumb. Turns out, the joke was about their lesson. Told them that since Yeonjun loved jokes, might as well make one so that Yeonjun won’t forget about it. Right after that tutor session, Yeonjun cried his eyes out to Beomgyu. Told him that Soobin was so sweet to do that and that he didn’t deserve him. And yeah, they need to figure their things out before Beomgyu does it first.

That day had come, eventually.

As usual, they were on their math-tutoring-with-the-coolest-person-in-the-world-Soobin, they are currently on their short break before their minds explode. Soobin told them that he’ll just go to the bathroom first. The two best friends agreed and they were both lazing out on the table. Yeonjun got curious about all the little things that he can see on the table, he saw Soobin’s favorite notebook. The one that he always brings around for their tutoring sessions. He then grabbed it and started scanning through the pages of the notebook. It was full of math formulas, notes, and to-do’s, nothing much interesting but he continued. Until he stopped. The shock was visible on his face. Beomgyu saw his reaction and stole the notebook from his hands, and there he saw a whole list of (corny) jokes for confessing and written there in a big font was “For Yeonjun Hyung <3”. Beomgyu chuckled, pleased to see his best friend’s reaction.

Soobin came back, told them that the bathroom line was super long. But something was off. The both of them are looking directly at him with smug smiles on their faces.

“What’s wrong?” Soobin asked, confused.

Yeonjun smiled harder, and asked, “Soobin, you must be a 90° angle, cause you’re the RIGHT person for me.”

And that was enough for Soobin’s face to turn into a tomato.

“I hate you guys!” Was the only response that Soobin gave before snatching his notebook back.

The next few minutes were filled with laughs and a lot of teasing.

“Such a dumb way to confess, but it’s cute. I like you too, my 90° angle.” Yeonjun chuckled before sending winks and flying kisses to Soobin, His Soobin now.
